Austin Carr Inactive Monday Night for Saints
Austin Carr has been ruled inactive for Monday night. This is a slight surprise, as Carr had seemed ahead of Deonte Harris on the depth chart. Harris will be the 5th WR and should have a very limited role.

Keke Coutee and Logan Paulsen will be inactive for the Houston Texans tonight. Paulsen was low on the TE depth chart and his absence is not significant.
Coutee had been working back from an ankle injury and appeared on track to play. Instead, Kenny Stills and DeAndre Carter should be given larger roles in the offense. Stills was acquired less than two weeks ago from the Dolphins and has big play upside, as he has averaged 16 yards per catch in his career.

It has been confirmed that Sterling Shepard does have a concussion and he has been entered into the concussion protocol. This certainly puts his Week 2 status in jeopardy. Continue to monitor his status as the week progresses.

Coach Kyle Shanahan announced that Coleman will miss Week 2 and will be week-to-week after that, a promising development for the RB.

Devin Funchess underwent surgery for his injured clavicle on Monday and was placed on IR. However, the injury is not season ending and Funchess could return later this season. Until then, Parris Campbell and Deon Cain should gain more targets. T.Y. Hilton remains the top option in the offense, but the loss of Funchess will probably allow the opposing defenses to focus even more on Hilton.

According to coach Kliff Kingsbury, Michael Crabtree is expected to play Week 2 for the Arizona Cardinals. Crabtree has not been dynamic in recent years, averaging 37.9 yards per game, 11.2 yards per reception with a catch rate of just 54% last season with the Ravens. However, the Arizona offense promises to be more pass heavy than Baltimore was last season and there are plenty of targets to go around. In Week 1, the Arizona Cardinals passed it 54 times and the Air Raid will continue to see the Cardinals play at a fast pace with plenty of 3, 4 and 5-WR sets.

Sterling Shepard is being evaluated for a concussion and might be entered into the protocol this week. It’s not clear exactly when this happened, as Shepard got the most snaps of all the Giants’ skill position players. The Giants are already without Golden Tate for the next 3 weeks as he finishes serving out his suspension, so their WR depth is shallow.
Evan Engram got 14 targets Week 1 and will be leaned on even more if Shepard is out. Cody Latimer (8 targets) and Bennie Fowler (5 targets) will also take on larger roles in the offense. It will also be interesting to see if the Giants give Saquon Barkley more touches after his extremely efficient week one, with 11 carries for 120 yards.

Baker Mayfield’s x-ray on his wrist came back negative, clearing the way for him to practice this week. The Browns fell apart late against the Titans Week 1, being outscored 31-7 in the 2nd half with Baker throwing 3 picks in the 4th quarter. Baker will have an extra day to rest with the Browns playing the Jets on Monday night.
As reported by: Scott PetrakJoe Mixon (Ankle) Could Play Week 2
Mixon got good news on his MRI and he might be able to play Week 2. It will be important to watch his practice participation, but either way Mixon should not be out long. The Bengals did nearly all their damage through the air Week 1, throwing for 418 yards and rushing for 34 yards. Giovani Bernard should see a higher work load if Mixon is out, but the offense seems unlikely to focus on the ground game either way.

JuJu Smith-Schuster suffered a minor toe injury late in Week 1 but is expected to play Week 2. He will likely be limited in practice and we should get more updates later this week. He is now the number 1 WR for the Steelers with Antonio Brown gone, and the results were mixed. While the Steelers played poorly, Smith-Schuster finished with 6 catches and 78 yards on 8 targets.

Derrius Guice had an MRI on his knee this morning and is likely to miss some time. The talented RB has not been able to stay healthy, and this injury comes right as he was in line to start for the Redskins. In fact, the coaching staff trusted Guice enough to make Adrian Peterson a healthy scratch, the first time in Peterson’s career he’s had that designation. Now, it looks like Peterson will move back onto the active roster and resume a role similar to the one he had last season, when he rushed for 1,042 yards on 251 attempts.

Nick Foles had surgery on his injured clavicle and was placed on the IR with the designation of eligible to return. That means Foles could return for the Jaguars Week 11, if healthy. In the mean time, Gardner Minshew takes over as the starter. He put together a fantastic stat line in relief of Foles, completing 22 of 25 passes for 275 yards, 2 TD’s and 1 pick. Joshua Dobbs was aquired Monday from the Steelers for a 5th round pick and will serve as the backup.

Tyreek Hill is recovering from his injured clavicle and the Chiefs are going to take a few days before deciding his fate. The options range from missing a few games to being placed on the IR with the designation to return. The IR option would mean the earliest he could return would be Week 9. Either way, the Chiefs will have to live without one of their top weapons for several weeks. The immediate beneficiary appears to be Sammy Watkins, who put up 9 catches, 198 yards and 3 touchdowns on 11 targets. Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman combined for 0 yards, so it remains to be seen if any other Chiefs WR’s will receive a boost.

Devin Funchess suffered a broken collarbone Week 1, leaving little depth at WR behind T.Y. Hilton. Funchess received the second most targets (5) and finished with 3 catches and 32 yards. The only other WR’s to receive targets were Deon Cain (2) and Parris Campbell (1). Instead, the Colts leaned heavily on the run game and passing to their TE’s and RB’s. Expect Marlon Mack to continue carrying a heavy load.

Tevin Coleman is likely to miss multiple games after suffering a foot injury Week 1, leaving Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert as the currently active RB’s for San Francisco. Breida received the heavier work load (15 carries, 37 yards, 1 target, 0 catches) but Mostert was more effective (9 carries, 40 yards, 1 target, 1 catch, 0 yards). Expect a split work load for the two backs in Week 2.
