WR Josh Gordon practicing with Patriots today
The Patriots’ newest addition is expected to play in Week 3, though how much is unclear at this time. With WR Julian Edelman still serving his suspension and the Pats coming off a Week 2 loss, perhaps they rush to get him out there. It would be a favorable matchup right off the bat against a weak Lions secondary potentially missing their best cornerback in Darius Slay (concussion) who remained out at practice today. At $6,300 on FanDuel and $5,500 on DraftKings he could be a high risk/high reward play.

Marvin Lewis confirmed that RB Joe Mixon won't play this week vs. Panthers
No surprise here, as Mixon had surgery to remove a small particle from his knee on Saturday. His timetable for return still sits at 2-4 weeks, with Gio Bernard benefitting greatly moving forward.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn said Freeman would be day to day this week
Quinn denied the report on Monday that Freeman would miss multiple weeks, and reiterated on Wednesday the running back would be evaluated daily going forward. The initial timetable for Freeman was a return a few weeks from the knee injury he suffered in Week 1, though Quinn’s comments suggest a swifter return. Freeman himself would be difficult to insert into lineups this week given the health concerns and the main fallout would be a huge decrease in Tevin Coleman’s value. If Freeman remains out for Week 3, Coleman maintains significant volume and will be firmly in play against New Orleans.

Joe Mixon is out for several weeks. Giovani Bernard will take over the top Running Back spot for the Bengals. Rawls is just injury insurance for his new team.

Sean Payton Hints at More Tre'Quan Smith Touches.
Michael Thomas has 28 catches for 269 yards through 2 games. The Saints might be looking for a way to take transfer some of that load to another WR. Smith is a big play threat and a large field tournament option.

This move might end up having ramifications to Nelson Agholor. Jordan Matthews has played primarily the slot position in his Eagles past, a spot Agholor is finding a great deal of success in right now. Agholor has lined up in the slot 56% of the time this season and racked up most of his 16 receptions from the slot. A move to the outside could be detrimental to the Eagles best receiver.

I was surprised to see the price tags on Matt Ryan this week, as he sits at a very affordable salary on virtually every DFS site. He accounted for four touchdowns a week ago (two rushing, two passing) and should be asked to do more heavy lifting with Devonta Freeman on the shelf. The Saints have shown in the early going that they likely aren’t going to be all that good defensively this season, and I’ll happily pounce on Ryan as a value quarterback option on a week where it looks like we can definitely use some salary relief at the position.
The Clear-Cut Top RB Option
Kamara was a disappointment a week ago against the Browns, but this is a fantastic spot for a rebound performance. The Falcons’ defensive scheme is very much susceptible to pass catching running backs, especially now that Deion Jones is out. Christian McCaffrey torched them for 14 RECEPTIONS for 102 yards a week ago, and this is the type of performance that we might also see from Kamara. Hope that others jump ship after Kamara’s Week 2 dud, as he is far and away my favorite high-end RB option on the board this week.
A Boom/Bust GPP Wideout
Thomas has scuffled a bit over two games with Case Keenum under center, but there is a bit of a small sample size factor at play with him. His size makes him the type of receiver that can hurt the Ravens, just like A.J. Green did on Thursday Night Football in Week 2. This feels like a better matchup for Thomas than it is for Sanders, and I like Thomas’ odds of finding the end zone in this game, especially if the Broncos are playing from behind.
An Under-Rated WR #1
Adam Thielen doesn’t get the national recognition he deserves, but he is turning into a consistent WR #1 option on a weekly basis. He has 18 catches on 25 targets through two weeks, and he has topped 100 receiving yards in each game. The good vibes should continue to roll in a great matchup against a Buffalo team that is devoid of any talent on defense, and Thielen should roll to his third straight 100 yard game. Take advantage of a player that is perpetually overlooked in GPPs here.
The Production Will Eventually Come for this Value Play
Jack Doyle has been frustrating for his DFS supporters over the first two weeks, failing to find the end zone in two games, while backup tight end Eric Ebron vultured a touchdown grab last week. The good news is that Doyle has been on the field for well over 90% of the total offensive snaps, and he has logged 15 targets over the first two games. His price tag remains dirt cheap, and ownership will start to flock toward other options here in Week 3. This could be a great spot to buy in at a low cost and at lower ownership in GPPs in a matchup against an Eagles team that allowed 96 yards and a touchdown to O.J. Howard a week ago.
RB Rob Kelley placed on IR
Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson have a stranglehold on all the backfield touches where the former gets fed in positive gamescripts and the latter sees most of the work in negative gamescripts and on third downs. Samaje Perine would now take over Peterson’s role if the veteran’s wheels fall off at some point this season.

The Eagles are desperate for help at wide receiver following Mike Wallace’s injury on Sunday, who will now join fellow wideouts Alshon Jeffery and Mack Hollins on the weekly inactives list. WR Deandre Carter was also released today to make room for RB Josh Adams, leaving the Eagles with 2 healthy receivers behind Nelson Agholor. A deal seems logical as Matthews is only 26 years old, had his best season in this Eagles offense, and is familiar with Carson Wentz. For these reasons, he could quickly see meaningful snaps if re-signed and push for playing time in 2-WR sets until Jeffery returns, though Agholor may be forced back outside in this scenario given their similar skill sets.
