Devin Funchess did not practice Wednesday

Funchess has been a regular attendee on the missed practice report for the last few weeks of the season, so we should not take much stock of him missing today. Cam Newton will need all available weapons on deck this weekend, and Funchess should suit up to play.

Julio Jones

Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman both are expected to practice on Wednesday

As expected, both Freeman and Jones returned to practice today. At this point in the season, players will often take an early week practice off to rest injured body parts. Freeman and Jones will both play this week and remain top options at respective positions for your wildcard DFS rosters.

Marqise Lee

San Francisco 49ers

Marqise Lee and Marcedes Lewis are both not expected to practice on Wednesday

The Jaguars are hopeful to have all healthy bodies available for this weekend’s wild-card game vs the Bills. Marquise Lee has not practiced in week’s and should be considered questionable until further notice. The addition of Lee to the field would obviously help Blake Bortels and the Jaguars passing game, as Lee has been a go-to guy for this team throughout the season. We should know more about the true status of Lee as the week progresses. Lewis has typically missed early-week practices in recent weeks and is expected to suit up for Sunday’s game against the Bills

LeSean McCoy

LeSean McCoy won't practice on Wednesday

No major surprises here, as McCoy suffered a pretty nasty injury in Sunday’s win vs the Dolphins. Still, we can expect that each day to have McCoy’s injury status updated as this is the biggest piece of news on the week. X-ray’s came back negative on on his ankle, and the team is hopeful that he can play at less than 100% this weekend. Marcus Murphy and Mike Tolbert were left to finish the game in McCoy’s absence. For now, the news coming out of Bills camp has McCoy listed as being a close call to play on Sunday. Each passing day should provide us with a clearer picture of McCoy’s chance to play this weekend.

DeMarco Murray

Tennessee Titans

DeMarco Murray doesn't practice Tuesday

It looks like a repeat from last week, as the Titans are still holding out hope to get Murray back for wild card weekend showdown vs the Chiefs. Murray should be considered questionable at best for this week, and it looks like Derrick Henry could once again be the featured back for the Titans. Henry racked up 51 yards on 28 carries last week but was able to take a short screen pass to the house for a 66-yard score. For now, we are in a holding pattern in regards to the Titans plan for this week, but you would have to suspect that Murray will have a hard time getting back on the field.

Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman both miss practice Tuesday, but Taylor Gabriel was able to participate in a limited in practice

Both Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman missed Tuesday’s practice ahead of this weekend’s wild-card showdown vs the Rams. Both superstars should be ready to play on Sunday, and at this point in the season, a missed early week practice is more about rest than anything else. Gabrial was able to practice in a limited fashion on Tuesday, so there is a chance that he plays this weekend. On paper, Gabrial is a nonfactor in terms of DFS, but the Falcons would certainly like to have all talented and healthy hands on deck for this week’s game.

Chiefs sign place Akeem Hunt on IR

The morning news of C.J. Spiller signing with the team makes more sense now, as the Chiefs announced today that backup running back Akeem Hunt suffered a season-ending ankle injury on Sunday.

Falcons place left guard Andy Levitre on IR

The Falcons announced today that Andy Levitre won’t suit up for the playoffs as he has been put on IR. Ben Garland will take his place against the Rams this weekend and should have a tough matchup against Aaron Donald. Overall the Rams defense ranks 22nd in DVOA vs the run and 3rd against the pass. The Falcons will be more than happy to try and attack the Rams on the ground, as they have shown the propensity to run the ball quite a bit this season.

LeSean McCoy

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

LeSean McCoy trending towards a game time decision for Sunday

LeSean McCoy’s injury status will most likely be the biggest piece of injury news this week. McCoy was carted off the field in Sunday’s win vs the Dolphins and did not return to the game. We will know more about the true status of McCoy following Wednesday’s practice.

Chiefs sign C.J. Spiller

The Chiefs signed veteran running back C.J. Spiller as insurance policy ahead of a wild card matchup vs the Titans this weekend. With both Charcandrick West ( Illness) and Akeem Hunt ( Ankle) both on the injury report, the team signed Spiller to add depth in case of an emergency. Kareem Hunt will continue to work as the Chiefs’ featured back for their Wild Card matchup against the Titans

Jonathan Stewart

New York Giants

Jonathan Stewart should be ready to go this weekend

When asked about the status of running back Jonathan Stewart, Coach Ron Rivera expressed no concern and expects him to be fine heading into wild-card weekend. If healthy Stewart could see action in both short yardage situations as well as goal-line work but does not have a ton of value moving forward.

LeSean McCoy has a chance to play against the Jaguars

McCoy was carted off the field in yesterday’s win vs the Dolphins and did not return to the game. X-ray’s came back negative on on his ankle, and the team is hopeful that he can play at less than 100% this weekend. Marcus Murphy and Mike Tolbert were left to finish the game in McCoy’s absence. Melvin Gordon

Baltimore Ravens
12/31/17, 5:07 PM ET

Melvin Gordon (ankle) active Sunday; RB Russell Hansbrough a healthy scratch

Gordon is active and will suit up, as expected, for today’s game against the Oakland Raiders after previously being listed as questionable on the Los Angeles Chargers’ injury report with an ankle injury he sustained during last week’s contest. Even though he’s active, it’s certainly possible that Gordon could see a limited workload with Branden Oliver absorbing more offensive snaps. That said, the fact that the Chargers opted to deactivate recent practice squad call-up Russell Hansbrough could bode well for Gordon’s workload and their confidence in his ability to be effective with those touches. Gordon has been one of the most volume-driven fantasy running backs this season, so if he even sees a small dip in snaps or touches it could spell trouble for his projected fantasy value this afternoon.

DeSean Jackson

Baltimore Ravens
12/31/17, 4:57 PM ET

DeSean Jackson (ankle) inactive Sunday; Chris Godwin (ankle) and Cameron Brate (hip) active

Jackson is inactive and won’t suit up for today’s game against the New Orleans Saints after previously being listed as questionable on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ injury report with an ankle injury that has now kept him sidelined for two consecutive games. Meanwhile, Cameron Brate and Chris Godwin are bot active following their earlier questionable designations, and the latter will continue working as the number two wide receiver opposite of Mike Evans on the outside in Jackson’s absence. The matchup is difficult against a Saints team that ranks fifth in pass DVOA, but Godwin could be an interesting tournament option with Evans likely drawing shadow coverage from Marshon Lattimore, Pro Football Focus’ eighth-ranked cornerback this season.

Jonathan Stewart

New York Giants
12/31/17, 4:49 PM ET

Jonathan Stewart (back tightness) inactive Sunday

Stewart is surprisingly inactive and won’t suit up for today’s game against the Atlanta Falcons due to back tightness despite never appearing on the Carolina Panthers’ at any point leading up to Sunday’s contest. His absence should lead to a bigger workload for Christian McCaffrey, who already has a great matchup against a Falcons defense that ranks 25th in rush DVOA and surrenders the 11th-most fantasy points to running backs out of the backfield. Cameron Artis-Payne and Fozzy Whittaker figure to mix in on some of the early-down running back snaps but neither will see enough playing time to become fantasy relevant.
