Congratulations to Jeff Collins, aka JeffElJefe for winning the 2018 DraftKings Fantasy Baseball World Championship. The long-time and well-known member of the DFS community held off a late Red Sox infused charge from reigning RG TPOY winner ChipotleAddict to take home the $500,000 first-place prize and title as DraftKings Champion. Congrats Jeff!

It’s almost over… or is it? Only one game is left in action – the Red Sox/Orioles game – and JeffElJefe has seen his once comfortable lead cut down to just 11 points after a J.D. Martinez home run helped move ChipotleAddict quite a bit closer. Two of his batters in Martinez and Devers just hit, but he does have some hope as Jackie Bradley will get an at bat in the top of the 9th. Can the impossible happen?

Baseball always loves to drag things out, doesn’t it? The Mets/Marlins game has gone into extra innings and the Red Sox and Orioles are tied at three after eight innings. JeffElJefe is still sitting pretty with a 26 point lead, but stranger things have happened.

Barring some unforeseen late rally, it looks as if JeffElJefe is finally going to get the monkey off of his back and win a live final after countless attempts prior to tonight. He holds over a 20 point lead with everyone down to 15 PIR or less. BaeRuth is currently in 2nd place with ChipotleAddict in 3rd. We’ll be back with the final standings and winning lineup as soon as the last game has finished (or before then if a miracle happens for someone to overtake Jeff).

The popular Indians stack finally did some work with Jose Ramirez and Michael Brantley both hitting a home run. That was enough to push JeffElJefe to the top as he did a 5-3 stack of Cardinals-Indians bats to go along with Jack Flaherty and Yefry Ramirez on the mound. He’s got a bit of a cushion right now as the games start to enter the later innings. PetrGibbons is now in second and ChipotleAddict still has two lineups in the top 10 as does BRORANNOSAURUS_FLEX.
In looking at the RG people taking part, CEO and co-founder Cal Spears is struggling with no team in the top 80. STLCards is faring a bit worse with his one lineup. Ihaveareputation also does not have any top 80 lineups. It’s a little bit better for Erik Beimfohr who has a top 30 lineup from one of his two entries and ezellmt is hanging out in the top 65.

PetrGibbons is the new leader as we approach the two hour mark with a slim lead over one-time RG personality JeffElJefe. The man from Office Space holds the lead thanks in part to a Cardinals stack and great production from a 3.7% owned Julio Teheran.

Last years RotoGrinders Tournament Player of the Year, ChipotleAddict, is currently in the lead benefiting mainly from a Mets stack and 18 fpts from a low owned Todd Frazier. Plenty of big names lurking in the top 10 including moklovin and ehafner (and an additional lineup from the burrito love).

We’re nearly an hour in and the current leader is knickgilman who leads a top 10 that includes some of the biggest names in the industry in ChipotleAddict, awesemo, scout326, and youdacao. He’s at the top mainly on the strength of a Ronald Acuna home run (at 8% ownership). Still a LONG way to go though – all it takes is one big inning for everything to turn upside down.

And it looks like all the ownerships are in now. Some other notable high owned players are Jack Flaherty at 33.3%, Marcell Ozuna at 31.1%, and Yadier Molina at 25.9%. For full ownership data, check out the ResultsDB link at the top of the page.
We’ll be updating every 30 minutes or so with updates until the last hour where we’ll start updating with every major leaderboard change.

Some more ownerships trickling in. Trevor Bauer and Dan Straily are the chalk options at pitcher as both come in at greater than 40% ownership with Bauer owned by nearly half the entrants. That leaves Corey Oswalt (26.7%) and Charlie Morton (16.3%) as the only other pitchers owned higher than 10% thus far.
For the hitters, Yonder Alonso is clearly the massive favorite at nearly 38% ownership. Brandon Guyer, Mike Moustakas, Amed Rosario, Francisco Lindor, and Alex Bregman all top 20%. The Indians are certainly a popular choice as they have three topping that number and the next two highest owned players are also Indians bats (Michael Brantley at 19.3% and Jose Ramirez at 18.5%).

The contest has finally locked and there are some ownerships from the first couple of locked games. Jace Peterson at 16.3% ownership is the highest of the group with Mookie Betts, Brock Holt, J.D. Martinez, and Chris Davis all topping 10%. Yefry Ramirez is the only pitcher owned thus far and he comes in at 9.63%.
The DraftKings MLB live final is set to get underway. Plenty of big names including some of RG’s best. We’ll be back in a few moments with ownerships and a deeper look at the contest and will be following all night long until a winner is crowned!
