Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.278 (Rank: 28) — Strikeout Rate: 21.3% (Rank: 21)
Pitchers per PA: 3.84 (Rank: 9)
Analysis: Danks is a pitcher that you never quite feel confident in rostering in daily fantasy baseball. He doesn’t have great command, he has a below-average strikeout rate, and he is on the wrong side of too many successful stacks. He draws a mediocre matchup against the Rays, but he’s not a pitcher that I’m going to target in cash games or tournaments.
Pitcher Rating:42.2
Matt Andriese : FD: $5,000 — DK: $4,500
Pitching Stats:

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.280 (Rank: 25) — Strikeout Rate: 21.2% (Rank: 20)
Pitchers per PA: 3.72 (Rank: 24)
Analysis: Andriese will be making his fourth start of the season tonight. He has pitched well so far, posting a 3.79 SIERA, but the strikeout rate is very low at 13.8%. He had a decent strikeout rate in the minor leagues, but I’ll wait for a bigger sample size in the pros before taking a stance on him. For now, I’ll take a wait and see approach.
Pitcher Rating:55.1

Chicago White Sox
NO ELITE PLAYS – The wait and see approach with Matt Andriese works both ways. When it’s tough to predict what is going to happen in a game, I typically like to avoid the pitcher and the offense (assuming there are other viable options). Jose Abreu and Adam Eaton are both secondary options tonight.

Analysis: I miss the days when Joey Butler was $2,200 on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Although, if he was still cheap at this point, he would be 90% owned tonight. Butler leads all rookies with a .330 batting average. He also has some good power in his bat with a .234 ISO. He draws a favorable matchup tonight against John Danks, who has given up a .369 wOBA to right-handed hitters over the last two seasons.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.311 (Rank: 13) — Strikeout Rate: 22.5% (Rank: 24)
Pitchers per PA: 3.86 (Rank: 8)
Analysis: Wood just can’t seem to find that next gear that he had last season. His strikeout rate is down nearly 8% this season, while his swinging-strike rate is down 3.5%. That’s a bit concerning, but he does draw a favorable matchup tonight against the Mets, who are typically a good remedy for the common pitching cold. The Mets have the fifth-highest strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season and they have the seventh-highest strikeout rate over the last two weeks of play. This could be a sneaky night to target Wood in tournaments or as an SP2 on multi-pitcher sites.
Pitcher Rating:68.4
Bartolo Colon : FD: $7,900 — DK: $8,000
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 278.0 — SIERA: 3.69 — K%: 18.3% — BB%: 3.1% — FB Rate: 39.2% — HR/FB: 9.9%

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.338 (Rank: 5) — Strikeout Rate: 17.9% (Rank: 6)
Pitchers per PA: 3.77 (Rank: 17)
Analysis: Colon got off to a great start this season, but he’s been mediocre since. Over the last month, he has a 4.06 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 16.3%. He throws primarily fastballs at this point in his career and when he’s not locating them on the corners of the plate, it’s basically batting practice for his opponents. He draws a difficult matchup tonight against the Braves, who are ranked 5th in wOBA (.338) and 6th in strikeout rate (17.9%) over the last two weeks of play.

Analysis: Freeman has been swinging a hot bat with a .446 wOBA and a .333 ISO in the last 14 days. He has a good track record against Bartolo Colon, who has given up some big outings recently. Even though Citi Field is a pitcher’s park, Freeman is still in a good spot tonight, especially given his very affordable price on both FanDuel and DraftKings.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.297 (Rank: 18) — Strikeout Rate: 17.7% (Rank: 4)
Pitchers per PA: 3.99 (Rank: 2)
Analysis: Hutchison has pitched very well over the last month with a 2.89 SIERA and a strikeout rate of 23.8%. What may be most impressive is his 3.2% walk rate during that stretch. Hutchison is a high-strikeout pitcher that faces a Red Sox offense that has the lowest strikeout rate of any team against right-handed pitching this season. Something has to give in this matchup, but I’m not sure which side it will be from. Hutchison still offers good value at his price point, but he’s a better tournament play than a cash game play tonight.
Pitcher Rating:59.9
Joe Kelly : FD: $6,700 — DK: $5,000
Pitching Stats:

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.364 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 17.2% (Rank: 2)
Pitchers per PA: 3.79 (Rank: 14)
Analysis: Kelly was striking batters out left and right at the beginning of the season, but he’s back to his career norm now. Over the last month of play, he has a 4.04 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 15.4%. He draws one of the worst pitching matchups on the board tonight, as the Blue Jays are ranked 3rd in wOBA (.330) against right-handed pitching and 1st in wOBA (.364) over the last two weeks. Kelly can safely be avoided in all league formats.

Last 14 Days: PA: 31 — wOBA: 0.254 — ISO: 0.154 — wRC+: 57
Analysis: Encarnacion is working his way out of a slump right now. While that’s not exactly promising, it does mean that his price is a little lower than when he is tearing the cover off the ball. This could be a great opportunity to buy low, as he draws a favorable matchup against Joe Kelly in the hitter-friendly Fenway Park. The Blue Jays are likely going to give the Green Monster plenty of work in this series.

Analysis: If you had Ortiz last night, you were likely very disappointed after his first three at-bats and then very happy after he hit a home run in his fourth at bat. He’s still not hitting for a high average, but at $2,400, it’s hard to pass up the value on FanDuel. He draws a favorable matchup against Drew Hutchison and he gets to face him at home in the hitter-friendly Fenway Park.

Analysis: Milone is making his second start in the last month. He gave up nine hits against the Red Sox in only five innings of work in his last outing. He has had a very low strikeout rate (13.7%) over the last two seasons and he has to face a surging Ragners’ offense tonight. Milone can safely be avoided in all league formats tonight in Texas.

Analysis: I’d like to believe in the resurgence that we are seeing from Rodriguez, but I’m still not going to be targeting him in daily fantasy anytime soon. He still has an average strikeout rate and he hasn’t been particularly efficient against left or right-handed hitters. He’s a small favorite tonight against the Twins, but this game has one of the highest run totals on the board.

He draws a favorable matchup against Wandy Rodriguez and he sees a positive ballpark shift tonight playing in the hitter-friendly Globe Life Park.

Analysis: King Felix takes the mound for the Mariners tonight. After a few nights of no aces, we now have our pick of the litter with David Price, Madison Bumgarner, and Clayton Kershaw all on the bump. Hernandez may have the best matchup in terms of strikeout potential, as the Astros have the second-highest strikeout rate (25.4%) of any team against right-handed pitching this season. Hernandez has proven that he can dominate against any opponent in any ballpark and he certainly deserves consideration tonight against the Astros.

Analysis: Oberholtzer has struggled in his first three starts of the season, posting a 5.28 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 13.8%. He is still working his way back from injury and the rust has shown in his command with a walk rate of 12.1%. He can safely be avoided tonight against the Mariners, who are ranked 6th in wOBA (.326) against left-handed pitching this season.

2014-15 vs. LH Pitching: PA: 205 — wOBA: 0.466 — ISO: 0.329 — wRC+: 208
Last 14 Days: PA: 53 — wOBA: 0.299 — ISO: 0.082 — wRC+: 94
Analysis: Cruz held himself out of yesterday’s game, but it sounds like he should be able to play tonight. He is too cheap on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Dollar for dollar, he is my top outfield play on both sites, assuming he is in the lineup. He is facing a struggling left-handed pitcher in a home run-friendly ballpark. Cruz has a .466 wOBA and a .329 ISO against left-handed pitching over the last two seasons and he should be targeted in all league formats tonight.

NO RECOMMENDED PLAYS – Since the start of 2014, Felix Hernandez has held left and right-handed hitters under a .260 wOBA, which rivals that of any starter in all of baseball. Avoid the Astros tonight against the King.
