Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.317 (Rank: 20) — Strikeout Rate: 24.5% (Rank: 27)
Pitches per PA: 3.96 (Rank: 2)
Analysis: Buehrle has one of the lowest strikeout rates of any starting pitcher in baseball, which immediately takes him out of fantasy consideration. Over the last two seasons, he has only struck out 12.8% of the batters that he has faced. Throw in a difficult matchup against the Red Sox and there is absolutely no reason that he should be on your radar today.
Pitcher Rating: 37.3
Rick Porcello : FD: $8,000 — DK: $6,300

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.393 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 16.4% (Rank: 4)
Pitches per PA: 3.84 (Rank: 11)
Analysis: Porcello has actually been very sharp since coming back from injury, posting a 2.10 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 32.1%. Granted, the sample size is small, but it’s at least promising if you are a Red Sox fan. The issue today is his matchup. The Blue Jays are ranked second in team wOBA against right-handed pitching and first in team wOBA over the last two weeks of play. Porcello also has to face them in the hitter-friendly Fenway Park.
Pitcher Rating: 51.0

Toronto
Even though the Blue Jays are not playing at home, they still have one of the highest team totals on the board. They draw a mediocre matchup against Rick Porcello, who has given up a .311+ wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters over the last two seasons.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.308 (Rank: 22) — Strikeout Rate: 15.8% (Rank: 2)
Pitches per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 21)
Analysis: Bauer’s strikeout rate has remained consistent throughout the season, but his overall form has been very and and down. At the moment, it’s in the downswing. Over the last month of play, he has a 4.69 SIERA (7.33 ERA) with a strikeout rate of 21.0% and a walk rate of 12.9%. He draw a mediocre matchup against the White Sox, but he’s not a pitcher that is on my radar. There are better options in his price range.

Pitches per PA: 3.90 (Rank: 3)
Analysis: Sale is the top rated pitcher on the board tonight. He has been absolutely dominant over the last month of play, posting a 2.03 SIERA with an insane strikeout rate of 38.4%. While the Indians have one of the lowest strikeout rates in baseball, that’s usually not a concern for a pitcher like Sale. He can make even the best of hitters look foolish at the plate. Sale is the top pitching option on the board and he will be the chalk play in cash games.
Pitcher Rating: 97.9

Analysis: Haren is always an easy pitcher for me to avoid. He has an average strikeout rate and he has given up as many home runs as anyone over the last few seasons. He draws a difficult matchup today against the Cardinals, who are ranked 12th in team wOBA and tenth in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Nothing to see here, moving on.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.343 (Rank: 11) — Strikeout Rate: 28.2% (Rank: 30)
Pitches per PA: 4.00 (Rank: 1)
Analysis: Lynn may have a 2.39 ERA over the last month of play, but his peripheral statistics tell another story. During that same stretch, he has a 4.86 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 16.0% and a walk rate of 10.9%. While the Cubs do strikeout at a high rate, they also have plenty of power in their lineup. The Cubs also average the most pitches per plate appearance, which could be an issue for Lynn, who tends to throw a lot of balls.

Analysis: Fiers has been a terrific addition to the Astros’ pitching staff. He has been sharp over the last month of play, posting a 3.67 SIERA (0.67 ERA) with a strikeout rate of 23.5%. He draws a mediocre matchup against the A’s, who are ranked 20th in team wOBA and fourth in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. The biggest issue that I have here is his price tag. He is a little too expensive for a pitcher that has struggled with consistency this season.

Analysis: Corbin has pitched well over the last month of play, posting a 3.24 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 23.6% over the last month. The issue with Corbin isn’t form, it’s his matchup. The Giants are one of the toughest teams to strikeout in all of baseball and Corbin has to face them at home in the pitcher-friendly Chase Field. I prefer Corbin over Mike Leake, but neither pitcher is on my radar in this full slate of games.

San Francisco
The Giants draw a mediocre matchup against Patrick Corbin, but they do see a favorable ballpark boost playing in Chase Field. The right-handed hitters have the edge in this matchup, as Corbin has allowed a .357 wOBA to hitters from that side of the plate.

The Diamondbacks are small favorites today at home against Mike Leake. While he has been effective against hitters from the right side of the plate, he has given up a .331 wOBA to left-handed hitters over the last two seasons. David Peralta and Ender Inciarte are both in play.
