Aaron Brooks : FD: $6,500 — DK: $6,500
Pitching Stats:

Toronto Blue Jays Offense (2015)

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.350 (Rank: 4) — Strikeout Rate: 16.8% (Rank: 4)
Pitchers per PA: 3.82 (Rank: 14)
Analysis: Brooks has been sharp in his last two starts, striking out 12 batters while only giving up two earned runs in 14 innings of work. He is a pitcher that we should keep our eye on for the rest of the season, but like all other pitchers that visit the Rogers Centre, he can be avoided in all league formats. The Blue Jays are ranked third in team wOBA against right-handed pitching and they rarely strikeout. That’s not a great combination for an opposing pitcher.
Pitcher Rating: 43.7
R.A. Dickey : FD: $8,000 — DK: $7,800
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 366.2 — SIERA: 4.35 — ERA: 3.80 — K%: 17.2% — BB%: 8.1% — HR/9: 1.1

vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.305 (Rank: 21) — Strikeout Rate: 17.7% (Rank: 4)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.274 (Rank: 28) — Strikeout Rate: 18.3% (Rank: 6)
Pitchers per PA: 3.87 (Rank: 7)
Analysis: Mark Buehrle was slated to start tonight, but he was pushed back a day, so Dickey will be on the bump for the Blue Jays. Dickey has a 0.99 ERA over the last month of play, but I will trust the more advanced statistics here. During that same stretch, he has a 4.23 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 16.6%, both of which are very close to his numbers over the last two seasons. Dickey is a large favorite tonight, but the strikeout potential is limited against the A’s. I’m going to pass on Dickey, as his recent level of play has led to an inflated price point.
Pitcher Rating: 55.3

Oakland
The A’s offense has disappeared in recent weeks, but they draw a decent matchup against R.A. Dickey and they see a nice ballpark boost playing in the hitter-friendly Rogers Centre. Danny Valencia has been swinging a hot bat and he gets to face his former team. Coco Crisp and Billy Burns are nice value plays that should be hitting at the top of the A’s lineup.

Toronto
The Blue Jays are one of the best offenses against right-handed pitching and they are one of the best offenses at home. Aaron Brooks has pitched well in his last two starts, but it’s hard to envision a quality start from him tonight in Toronto. Once again, all of the one through five hitters in the Blue Jays’ lineup are going to be in play tonight at home.

Pitchers per PA: 3.88 (Rank: 5)
Analysis: De La Rosa has been the only consistent piece in the Rockies’ starting rotation over the last few years. He comes into tonight’s start in less than stellar form, posting a 6.26 ERA (4.16 SIERA) over the last month of play. While he does draw a favorable matchup against the Mets on paper, they are a better lineup now that Yoenis Cespedes is in the mix and now that Michael Cuddyer is back in the lineup. I always avoid pitchers in bad form and that trend will continue tonight.

Pitchers per PA: 3.75 (Rank: 23)
Analysis: deGrom continues to amaze. Over the last month of play, he has a 2.32 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 31.3%. During that stretch, he has struck out ten times more hitters than he has walked. We should expect another strong outing from him tonight against the Rockies, who are a much different offense away from Coors Field. deGrom is my second-favorite pitching option tonight and that’s only because Clayton Kershaw is on the mound.
Pitcher Rating: 88.8

Colorado
The Rockies have scored two runs combined in the first two games in this series. They will likely struggle again tonight, as Jacob deGrom has held left and right-handed hitters under a .280 wOBA over the last two seasons. If you want to give your lineups a chance to win each night, you should avoid taking hitters against elite pitchers such as deGrom.

NY Mets
The Mets may not have the best team numbers against left-handed pitching this season, but that should improve with Yoenis Cespedes and Michael Cuddyer in the lineup. Since the start of the 2014 lineup, Jorge De La Rosa has given up a .330 wOBA to right-handed hitters.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.361 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 21.9% (Rank: 23)

Analysis: Wisler is an easy pitcher to avoid in daily fantasy. He has an above-average SIERA with a below-average strikeout rate. He does draw a favorable matchup against the Rays, but that’s not enough to warrant fantasy consideration. He is one of the largest underdogs on the board tonight and he is pitching on the road.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.296 (Rank: 23) — Strikeout Rate: 14.5% (Rank: 1)
Pitchers per PA: 3.77 (Rank: 21)
Analysis: Odorizzi is slowly starting to recover his early season form. Over the last month of play, he has a 4.08 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 20.7%. He has terrific numbers at home throughout his career and he is facing a Braves’ offense that is ranked 23rd in team wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. The strikeout potential may be limited, but the Braves lack power and they don’t take a lot of pitches, so Odorizzi could end up pitching deep into this game.
Pitcher Rating: 69.5

Atlanta
The Braves have one of the lowest team totals on the board tonight, as they square off against Jake Odorizzi. They are an offense that is easily avoidable against average pitchers, yet alone pitchers that are of the caliber of Odorizzi. I am going out on a limb tonight (sarcasm) and will be fading the Braves in all league formats.

The Rays lefties let us down last night, but they have a shot at redemption tonight against Matt Wisler, who has given up a .420 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season. John Jaso, James Loney, and Grady Sizemore are all cheap and all deserve consideration in this favorable matchup. Jaso is really the only pick of the three that stands out as a cash game option.

Analysis: Sabathia has been a little better recently, but he still has the same problem that has plagued him in the last few seasons. He can’t seem to get right-handed hitters out for the life of him. The strikeout potential is still there for Sabathia, but the Indians have the sixth-lowest strikeout rate against southpaws this season. There is no reason to give yourself the added stress of having to sweat each and every inning that Sabathia pitches. Continue to avoid Sabathia.

Pitchers per PA: 3.89 (Rank: 4)
Analysis: Salazar has been terrific this season, but I haven’t been targeting pitchers against the Yankees all season and I’m not going to start tonight. The Yankees are ranked fourth in team wOBA and seventh in team strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. They also average the fourth-most pitches per plate appearance. Salazar likes to make hitters chase, which may not work tonight against a patient Yankees’ offense.

Even though I won’t be targeting Danny Salazar tonight, I’m not sure that I will be targeting any hitters against him either. Analysis: Garza may have a 2.55 ERA over the last month of play, but don’t buy the fools gold. He has a 4.52 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 19.0% during that stretch. While the Cubs do have the highest strikeout rate of any team against right-handed pitching this season, they also average the most pitches per plate appearance. I’m not very high on Garza tonight in Chicago.

vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.309 (Rank: 15) — Strikeout Rate: 20.4% (Rank: 19)

Pitchers per PA: 3.73 (Rank: 26)
Analysis: Hammel comes into tonight’s start in bad form, posting a 4.58 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 18.1%. The good news is that his price has come down considerably and he is now under $9,000 on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Vegas doesn’t appear to have lost their faith in him, as he is a large favorite tonight against the Brewers. He’s still a little too risky to use in cash games, but I like the upside that he provides for tournaments.

Batter Grind Down
Milwaukee
Even though Jason Hammel may not be in the best form, I will still be avoided the Brewers’ offense tonight. Since the start of the 2014 season, Hammel has held left and right-handed hitters under a .300 wOBA.

Chicago Cubs
The Cubs draw a favorable matchup tonight against Matt Garza, who has given up a .323 wOBA to left-handed hitters over the last two seasons. There are a few viable options in this lineup, but Kyle Schwarber is the only one that stands out as an elite play tonight.
