Trevor Bauer : FD: $7,700 — DK: $8,000

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.412 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 15.2% (Rank: 2)
Pitches per PA: 3.83 (Rank: 12)

Analysis: Bauer has not pitched well recently and he now has to head to Toronto to take on the Blue Jays, who are ranked first in team wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. There is no fantasy appeal here, as the Blue Jays are the best offensive team in all of baseball.

Pitcher Rating: 45.8

R.A. Dickey : FD: $7,800 — DK: $6,000

Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 389.1 — SIERA: 4.40 — ERA: 3.95 — K%: 17.0% — BB%: 8.0% — HR/9: 1.1

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.347 (Rank: 4) — Strikeout Rate: 18.2% (Rank: 8)
Pitches per PA: 3.91 (Rank: 3)

Analysis: Dickey is a large favorite tonight at home, but that’s not enough to warrant fantasy consideration tonight. He draws a difficult matchup against the Indians, who are ranked 13th in team wOBA and seventh in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. It also doesn’t help that Dickey has to face them at home in the hitter-friendly Rogers Centre. He can be avoided in what is expected to be a shootout.

Pitcher Rating: 46.9

Batter Grind Down

Cleveland

The Indians see a major ballpark boost tonight in the Rogers Centre and they draw a pretty favorable matchup to boot. R.A. Dickey isn’t particularly effective against hitters from either side of the plate. I will be heavily targeting the left-handed hitters in this lineup.

The Blue Jays have one of the highest team totals on the board once again, as they square off against the struggling Trevor Bauer, who has given up a .316+ wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters over the last two seasons. Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.392 (Rank: 2) — Strikeout Rate: 16.3% (Rank: 4)
Pitches per PA: 3.87 (Rank: 8)

Analysis: Nola has enjoyed a nice rookie season, posting a 3.93 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 20.0%. While the Mets have struggled against right-handed pitching this season, they are actually ranked second in team wOBA over the last two weeks of play. Nola does get to face them in the pitcher-friendly Citi Field, but he is the largest underdog on the board. He should be restricted to tournament play tonight.

Pitcher Rating: 48.8

Matt Harvey : FD: $11,500 — DK: $11,900

Pitches per PA: 3.73 (Rank: 27)

Analysis: Harvey has been a BEAST recently, posting a 2.64 SIERA (0.33 ERA) with a strikeout rate of 25.0% and a walk rate of 2.1% over the last month of play. His early season struggles are long behind him and he should be considered a top fantasy option tonight against the Phillies, who are ranked 26th in team wOBA and 15th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. He is the largest favorite on the board and a nice alternative if you are looking to fade Clayton Kershaw for some strange reason.

Pitcher Rating: 94.9

Batter Grind Down

Philadelphia

The Phillies are one of the worst offenses in baseball against right-handed pitching. While they had a huge outing against the Mets last night, expect them to snap back to reality tonight against Matt Harvey, who has held both left and right-handed hitters under a .300 wOBA over the last two seasons.

NY Mets

The Mets are huge favorites tonight, but their matchup against Aaron Nola is mediocre at best. The sample size is still small, but Nola has held both left and right-handed hitters under a .305 wOBA this season. The Mets should be considered secondary fantasy options tonight.

Pitches per PA: 3.70 (Rank: 30)

Analysis: Wolf has actually pitched well recently, posting a 3.73 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 18.5% over the last month of play. The issue here is that he is a bit past his prime and that he draws an awful matchup against the Royals, who are the toughest team to strikeout in the majors. Wolf can safely be avoided in all league formats tonight.

Analysis: Ventura is finally starting to round into form, posting a 3.96 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 23.9% over the last month of play. The issue here is his matchup. On the season, the Tigers are ranked eighth in team wOBA against right-handed pitching. They are also ranked sixth in team wOBA over the last two weeks of play. The price is appealing, but there are better pitching options on the board tonight.

Pitcher Rating: 71.4

Detroit

Even though I won’t be targeting Yordano Ventura tonight, I’m not going to have a ton of exposure to the Tigers’ offense either. While his matchup against the White Sox is a favorable one, it’s hard to trust Milone in any type of league format. He can safely be avoided tonight.

Analysis: Davies is making his major league debut tonight. In 18 minor league starts this season, Davies has a 3.08 FIP with a strikeout rate of 19.3%. He is a nice prospect that the Brewers acquired from the Orioles. While I like the price point, I usually like to give these young pitchers a start or two before targeting them in daily fantasy baseball. Let’s take a wait and see approach on Davies, who is a sizable underdog tonight against the Pirates.

Pitcher Rating: 41.1

Batter Grind Down

Pittsburgh

The Pirates have a high team total tonight, as they take on a rookie right-hander in the hitter-friendly Miller Park. It’s always difficult to predict how these major league debuts are going to go, but the Pirates are sneaky targets in both cash games and tournaments.
