The Predators wrap up their two game road trip with a visit to Madison Square Garden this afternoon to take on the New York Rangers. Nashville came away with a 1-0 victory in Philadelphia on Thursday night on a goal by none other than Colton Sissons. He skates with Kevin Fiala and Craig Smith while the top line of Filip Forsberg, Ryan Johansen and Viktor Arvidsson were held to just two shots by Arvidsson. That doesn’t mean that we discount them here this afternoon as Forsberg does lead the team with five goals and nine points while Arvidsson has found the score sheet five times so far this season. It was more of maybe the Flyers playing better defensively than the top line not producing. Scott hartnell feels like a one-off here as he skates on the third line but has been able to light the lamp as well as assist on three other goals so far this season. P.K. Subban has been lighting it up from the blue line as he has seen four of his seven points come when the Predators have the man advantage. Roman Josi is off to a sluggish start as he has only tallied three points through the first seven games. The win on Thursday night gave Nashville their first road win of the season and look to make it two in a row this afternoon.

The Rangers will go with the same line up they used on Thursday night in their 4-3 shootout loss against the Islanders on home ice. Mika Zibanejad will center Rick Nash and Mats Zuccarello on the first line while David Desharnais skates with Chris Kreider and J.T. Miller on the team’s second scoring line. Pavel Buchnevich has been dropped out of the top six for now but is still afforded the extra time on the power play as he skates with the top line and defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk. The Desharnais line accounts for the other power play unit along with defensemen Ryan McDonagh and Anthony DeAngelo. The Rangers use their power play units evenly so pairing any of them together may be the way to go for your early game plays. New York has gotten off to a haphazard start as they are just 1-5-2 through the first eight games. Nashville has only given up 17 goals in the first seven games so maybe sticking with the top skill players is the way to go here. Shattenkirk leads the team along with Zuccarello and Miller as they have all found the score sheet seven times through the first eight games. Look for the New Yorkers to have a little problem this afternoon against a team that is usually pretty sound defensively night in and night out.
