The Next Place To Be
Of course the Dodgers going into Coors Field are the top offense tonight, but you’re really being asked to pay a premium. On most sites, we can save a lot of salary by shifting to the Milwaukee right-handed bats against Cole Hamels. Hamels is not a bad pitcher, but this Brewers team is loaded and it starts up top with the elite plate skills of Lorenzo Cain, who walks more than he strikes out against lefties. Hamels is also prone to stolen bases which adds to Cain’s value tonight.
Going Right Back Here Tonight
Ryan Braun came through against the lefty last night and gets another one tonight and he’ll be going right back in my lineups. Cole Hamels has slightly more strikeout ability than Quintana last night, but Hamels also allows a lot of hard contact to righties. To reiterate what I said here yesterday, Braun had the highest hard hit rate in all of baseball against left-handed pitching in 2018, and on top of that he makes a lot of contact and hits in the middle of one of the best lineups in the league.
Get In Play Here
We finally have a Coors Field game on the main slate, and it’s going to be tough to get away from the Dodgers side. Both pitchers in this game have some skills, but this Dodgers lineup is so loaded they are a worse case scenario for an opposing righty. Corey Seager is not the best hitter in the lineup, but he fills a tough position and has strong contact skills at the top of the lineup. If you can fit Cody Bellinger or Joc Pederson, great, but if not, Seager keeps you involved in this Dodgers lineup at a bit of a discount.
Paying Down At Pitcher
Kyle Wright is someone that I will be looking at for a cheap pitcher option. His price on Fanduel is insanely low at 6100. His first time out this season he had to face the Phillies, one of the top 3 lineups in baseball. He started off a little shaky with some walk issues but settled down and pitched better after. Tonight, he gets a matchup against the Miami Marlins who have a bunch of strikeouts in their lineup. He should be a little more comfortable this time and be able to have a better outing.
High K Upside
Corbin Burnes is a guy in GPPs I am looking at. His first start of the season was up and down, racking up 12 strikeouts but also allowing 3 home runs. In tournaments, we love guys who can pile up the strikeouts and if he can keep the ball in the park, he could have a good outing. I also think that even though his first start was decent, his ownership might be down, especially since he is going up against a solid Cubs lineup that people might not want to pick on.
Load Up The Brew Crew
After putting up 13 runs last night against the Cubs, you would think that the Brewers would be chalk tonight. This would be true if there wasn’t a game being played in Coors Field. The lefty Jose Quintana gave up 8 earned runs last night, and tonight they go up against another lefty in Cole Hamals. With the Brewers having four guys with an ISO over 200 and the fact that Hamels’ hard hit rate to righties is just over 43%, we should be able to load up these bats and get pretty decent ownership on them in GPPs. The four guys I am most interested in are Cain, Yelich, Braun, and Aguilar.

Top Of The Mound
It was not a good opening start for Happ against these Orioles, but there is no reason to start fearing Baltimore at this point. Other than Walker Buehler who is pitching at Coors Field, Happ had the best skills of anyone on this slate in 2018 with a 26.3% K rate and 7% walks. The bad luck HR/FB in his first start will not last with his ability to limit hard contact. There are so many strikeouts in this Baltimore lineup it raises both his floor and his ceiling.
All The A's Righties
Oakland is a team that I will definitely be looking at stacking tonight. Oakland has a ton of right-handed power bats to use against the lefty Wade Miley. Miley is someone who doesn’t have a high strikeout rate, but does have an extreme ground ball rate around 55%. Still, Miley just isn’t a pitcher that scares me and with these Oakland righties playing well right now, I think you could load up on guys like Khris Davis, Matt Chapman, Chad Pinder and Stephen Piscotty. They are all in play today.

High Hard Hit Rate vs RHB
Cole Hamels struggled big time generating soft contact against righties last season allowing a 43.7% hard hit rate over 157 IP. Unsurprisingly, as a result he also struggled keeping the ball in the yard with a career high 1.55 HR/9 to right handed bats. Hamels first start in 2019 was much of the same allowing five earned runs and a HR to the Rangers over five innings pitched. Things don’t get much easier on Saturday for Hamels as the Cubs take on a red hot Brewers offense in hitter friendly Miller Park. Enter Ryan Braun who has dominated left handed pitching throughout his career, posting a 164 wRC+ and .286 ISO against southpaws. Braun is priced too low for this matchup and is a strong piece to start with when selecting your OF for cash games on Saturday night.
Nats Bats a Good Way to Get Contrarian on Early Slate
Steven Matz isn’t a bad pitcher by any means, but there are certainly spots to stack against him as he is prone to blow ups. He is much worse vs. RHB with a .329 xwOBA against since 2017, and posted a 1.66 HR/9 vs. RHB in 2018. The Nats have stacked their lineup with righties vs. Matz and a few have some particularly impressive numbers vs. LHP. Ryan Zimmerman (.439 xwOBA vs. LHP in 2018), Anthony Rendon (.423), Yan Gomes (.366) are all in play. Juan Soto (.351) has a tough matchup as a lefty but will be sandwiched in the middle of the order and is always a threat. Brian Dozier is coming off a down 2018, but owns a .363 wOBA and 129 wRC+ vs. LHP for his career and will bat 2nd in the Nats’ order. The Nats have just a 3.74 implied total today and figure to be low owned across the industry.

Gordon has been scratched from the Seattle Mariners original confirmed lineup and will not start in Saturday’s matchup against the Chicago White Sox due to groin tightness. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Dylan Moore, who will now play second base and slot directly into Gordon’s vacated ninth spot in the order. However, the remainder of the Mariners lineup will stay intact offensively as they face off against right-hander Lucas Giolito on the road this afternoon.
