Darius Slayton

New York Giants
12/30/21, 3:25 PM ET

NYG WR Darius Slayton placed on COVID list

Darius Slayton has been placed on the COVID list ahead of the Giants matchup with the Chicago Bears. With Slayton likely sidelined this weekend the Giants wide receiver depth could be tested. Kadarius Toney, John Ross, and Collin Johnson all would be expected to play larger roles in Slayton’s absence but all three did not practice today putting their status in question. Kenny Golladay seems to be the only healthy receiver at this point and will remain the top pass-catching option along with Evan Engram also likely to play an increased role. It is tough to trust any members of the New York offense at this point due to the quarterback play of both Jake Fromm and Mike Glennon.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Kansas City Chiefs
12/30/21, 2:50 PM ET

KCC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (shoulder) DNP Thursday

Clyde Edwards-Helaire (shoulder) logged another DNP Thursday ahead of the Chiefs matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday. CEH seems to be trending in the wrong direction to suit up this weekend as he is dealing with a collarbone injury. If he were to miss, Darrel Williams and Derrick Gore would likely split the backfield work with Williams being the more appealing DFS option due to his pass-catching ability.

Saquon Barkley

Philadelphia Eagles
12/30/21, 2:46 PM ET

NYG RB Saquon Barkley and TE Kyle Rudolph returned to practice Thursday; WR Kadarius Toney, WR John Ross, and WR Collin Johnson all DNP

Saquon Barkley and Kyle Rudolph returned to practice Thursday, while Kadarius Toney, John Ross, and Collin Johnson all logged DNPs ahead of the Giants matchup with the Chicago Bears this Sunday. Saquon Barkley and Kyle Rudolph seem to be trending in the right direction to suit up this weekend where they should slot back into their usual roles. Barkley will be expected to lead the backfield with Devontae Booker available to back him up. Rudolph should back up Evan Engram at the the tight end position. Toney, Ross, and Johnson all seem to be trending in the wrong direction, with Toney having the most impact if he is forced to miss. With no Toney, Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton would be the top receivers for the Giants and would see an increase in expected volume. It is tough to trust many members of the New York offense at this point due to the quarterback play of both Jake Fromm and Mike Glennon.

Antonio Gibson

New England Patriots
12/30/21, 1:33 PM ET

WAS RB Antonio Gibson DNP Thursday

Antonio Gibson logged a DNP Thursday ahead of Washington’s matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Gibson is likely using today as a maintenance day for his toe injury after suiting up this past weekend. This will likely be the norm for Gibson as the season comes to a close for Washington, but if he were to be ruled out Jaret Patterson and Jonathan Williams would likely split work in the backfield. Patterson would likely see much of the early down work with Williams playing a role in the passing game, though both could be considered in DFS contests as value options.

Jimmy Garoppolo

Los Angeles Rams
12/29/21, 6:58 PM ET

SFO QB Jimmy Garoppolo DNP Wednesday; RB Elijah Mitchell returned to practice

Jimmy Garoppolo logged a DNP Wednesday, while Elijah Mitchell returned to practice ahead of the 49ers matchup with the Houston Texans. Garoppolo went through stretches with the team before leaving the field, signaling that his hand is still bothering him too much to give it a go at this point. He will try again to practice tomorrow with the hope of suiting up this weekend. If he were unable to go, Trey Lance would draw the start and would need to be considered in DFS contests due to the safe floor he provides with his rushing ability. Elijah Mitchell seems to be trending towards a return which would move Jeff Wilson back to a more complimentary role. The return of Mitchell combined with Lance at quarterback could also potentially hurt Deebo Samuel. Samuel could lose some of his rushing opportunities to Lance and Mitchell and would see his expected production as a pass-catcher decrease as well. It will be important to monitor Garoppolo’s status as the week progresses

Chris Moore

Washington Commanders
12/29/21, 6:40 PM ET

HOU WR Chris Moore placed on COVID list; WR Phillip Dorsett placed on IR

Chris Moore has been placed on the COVID list, while Phillip Dorsett has been placed on IR ahead of the Texans matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Neither Moore or Dorsett were expected to play major roles this weekend with Danny Amendola and Brandin Cooks set to return so their absences shouldn’t be considered DFS relevant. Brandin Cooks remains the one Houston pass-catcher that provides enough consistency to be played in DFS contests and can be considered in most formats.

Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens
12/29/21, 6:49 PM ET

BAL QB Lamar Jackson returned to practice Wednesday; WR Devin Duvernay and FB Patrick Ricard DNP

Lamar Jackson returned to practice Wednesday, while Devin Duvernay and Patrick Ricard both logged DNPs ahead of the Ravens matchup against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday. Jackson was limited in his return to practice and their is video going around showing him with a visible limp, so Jackson should still be considered questionable for this weekend’s game. If Jackson were to miss, Tyler Huntley would likely draw the start as long as he is cleared from the COVID list in time. If Duvernay were to miss Sunday, Sammy Watkins would likely step in as the third receiver behind Marquise Brown and Rashod Bateman. If Ricard were to be ruled out, the Ravens would likely opt to forego a fullback. It will be important to monitor Jackson’s status as the week progresses

Tyler Conklin

Los Angeles Chargers
12/29/21, 6:36 PM ET

MIN TE Tyler Conklin (hamstring) DNP Wednesday

Tyler Conklin (hamstring) logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of the Vikings Sunday night football matchup with the Green Bay Packers. Conklin would be expected to play an important role in the passing game with Adam Thielen out for the rest of the season. If Conklin were unable to suit up, Chris Herndon would likely step into the primary tight end role and would need to be considered on the showdown slate as great value option that should play a large number of snaps. It is also worth noting that Ben Ellefson has been designated to start practicing from IR and has a chance to be activated this weekend. He could also help fill Conklin’s absence if he is unable to go.

12/29/21, 6:30 PM ET

NOS QB Taysom Hill and TE Adam Trautman activated from COVID list

Taysom Hill and Adam Trautman have been activated from the COVID list ahead of the Saints matchup with the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Hill should reclaim his role as the starting quarterback for the Saints and all pass-catchers should be expected to see a slight increase in expected production. Hill will need to be considered in DFS contests due to the safe floor he provides due to his rushing ability. Trautman should slot back in as part of the Saints tight end unit, though he will likely not see enough volume to be considered in DFS contests at this time.

James O'Shaughnessy

Chicago Bears
12/29/21, 6:16 PM ET

JAC TE James O'Shaughnessy (hip) DNP Wednesday

James O’Shaughnessy (hip) logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of the Jaguars matchup against the New England Patriots this Sunday. O’Shaughnessy is dealing with a hip injury and would be expected to be the primary tight end this weekend if he is able to suit up. If not, the only other tight end on the active roster is Kahale Warring who has just recently joined the team. Warring would need to be considered as a punt option with upside based on expected volume.

Nelson Agholor

Baltimore Ravens
12/29/21, 6:10 PM ET

NEP WR Nelson Agholor (concussion) DNP Wednesday

Nelson Agholor (concussion) logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of the Patriots matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Agholor is expected to serve as the secondary receiver to Jakobi Meyers this weekend but is still dealing with some issues stemming from a concussion. If he were to miss this weekend’s game, Kendrick Bourne and N’Keal harry would be asked to step up and play a larger role in the New England passing game. It will be important to monitor Agholor’s status as the week progresses.

Jared Goff

Detroit Lions
12/29/21, 5:52 PM ET

DET QB Jared Goff (knee) DNP Wednesday

DET QB Jared Goff (knee) logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of the Lions matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Goff has been cleared from the COVID protocols but is still dealing with a knee injury and labeled himself as day-to-day. If Goff is unable to suit up this weekend, Tim Boyle would once again draw the start. Boyle had a much better showing last week than he did in his first game but would still be considered a step down from Goff. All pass-catchers would take a hit in expected production. It will be important to monitor Goff’s status as the week progresses.
