Jamaal Williams

New Orleans Saints
11/17/21, 5:52 PM ET

DET RB Jamaal Williams returned to practice Wednesday; RB Jermar Jefferson DNP

Jamaal Williams has returned to practice Wednesday after missing the last two games while Jermar Jefferson logged a DNP ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland browns. Jamaal Williams returning to the Lions backfield would limit some of the upside that D’Andre Swift has enjoyed the last few weeks as the main featured back. Swift will still have his receiving upside this weekend however as the Lions will likely be playing from behind against a solid Browns defense, though his receiving upside could also be affected by who is playing quarterback (Jared Goff is day-to-day).

Hayden Hurst

Los Angeles Chargers
11/17/21, 5:41 PM ET

ATL TE Hayden Hurst listed out for Thursday; RB Cordarrelle Patterson listed questionable

Hayden Hurst has been listed out for Thursday’s game against the New England Patriots. With Hurst unable to suit up, Kyle Pitts could play a few more snaps and would become an even stronger play than he already is. Lee Smith and Parker Hesse will be available to back Pitts up but would not be DFS relevant outside of dart throw punt plays on the Thursday showdown slate. As expected, Cordarrelle Patterson has been listed questionable and will be a game-time decision. Patterson is dealing with an ankle injury which was originally expected to keep him out for this week but after logging a full week of limited practice it seems as though he is trending in the right direction to be able to suit up. If Patterson is unable to play however, Mike Davis and Wayne Gallman would split the backfield work and could both be considered on the showdown slate.

Dallas Goedert

Philadelphia Eagles
11/17/21, 5:37 PM ET

PHI TE Dallas Goedert (concussion) DNP Wednesday

Dallas Goedert logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of the Eagles game on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Goedert is currently in the concussion protocol so his status is extremely uncertain for this weekend. If he were unable to suit up, Jack Stoll and Tyree Jackson would split the tight end snaps with Stoll more likely to see the majority of snaps. He would become a tremendous value option in an offense that relies heavily on its primary tight end. It will be important to monitor how Goedert progresses through the protocol this week and if he is able to be cleared in time for Sunday’s game.

Cole Beasley

New York Giants
11/17/21, 5:32 PM ET

BUF WR Cole Beasley (ribs) DNP Wednesday

Cole Beasley logged a DNP Wednesday as he is still dealing with an injury to his ribs ahead of Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. Beasley has been dealing with the same injury for about three weeks now and has been able to suit up for every game even after missing multiple practices. This could be the case again this week but if Beasley were forced to miss, Emmanuel Sanders and Gabriel Davis could be in line to see increased targets and should see their value increase. It will be important to monitor Beasley’s practice status though he could only need one limited practice Friday to be ready for this weekend.

Chris Carson

Seattle Seahawks
11/17/21, 5:20 PM ET

SEA RB Chris Carson (neck) will not practice Wednesday

Chris Carson will not practice Wednesday ahead of the Seahawks matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. Carson is still dealing with a neck injury and seems to be trending in the wrong direction for this week and possibly the rest of the season. With Carson likely out again this weekend, Alex Collins would be the lead back with Rashaad Penny and Travis Homer available to back him up. Though Penny didn’t play much of a role last week HC Pete Carroll said that this is the time of year that they need to try to get him going so expect more snaps this week. Alex Collins is still the back to roster in this backfield however and he should offer some value with Carson likely still unavailable.

Alvin Kamara

New Orleans Saints
11/17/21, 5:00 PM ET

NOS RB Alvin Kamara returned to practice Wednesday; QB Taysom Hill and WR Ty Montgomery not seen practicing

Alvin Kamara has returned to practice Wednesday while both Taysom Hill and Ty Montgomery were not seen practicing. It seems as though Kamara is set to make his return this weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles after missing last Sunday due to a knee injury. Kamara should assume his normal role with Mark Ingram also mixing in for early down work. Taysom Hill did not log a practice today meaning that most likely Trevor Siemian will make another start at quarterback. It is not looking good for Montgomery’s prospects of suiting up this weekend after missing practice Wednesday. Without Montgomery the receiving corps should be led by Tre’Quan Smith, Marquez Callaway, and Deonte Harris.

Elijah Mitchell

New England Patriots
11/17/21, 4:52 PM ET

SFO RB Elijah Mitchell (finger) not practicing Wednesday but expected to play Sunday; RB JaMycal Hasty (ankle) will not practice

Elijah Mitchell is not practicing Wednesday after having surgery on his finger yesterday but is expected to play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. If Mitchell is forced to miss time, Jeff Wilson would be the next man up and would see the bulk of the carries with Deebo Samuel also mixing in. As of now, it seems pretty likely that Mitchell will be able to tough it out and play this weekend but it will be important to monitor his status as we get closer to Sunday. JaMycal Hasty will not practice and seems like a long shot to play this weekend. If he were able to suit up he would also be in the running back mix and would be expected to handle most of the passing down work.

James Robinson

New Orleans Saints
11/17/21, 4:48 PM ET

JAC RB James Robinson DNP Wednesday

James Robinson logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of Jacksonville’s matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. Robinson is still nursing a heel injury that he was able to play through last week and is now also dealing with a knee injury. Today was most likely a maintenance day as Robinson’s status is not yet in question for this weekend. However, if he were to be ruled out Carlos Hyde would lead the backfield with Dare Ogunbowale and Devine Ozigbo available to back him up. Hyde would need to be considered as a value option based on expected volume even in a tough matchup. It will be important to monitor Robinson’s status the rest of the week and ultimately what he is listed as on the injury report released Friday.

Curtis Samuel

Buffalo Bills
11/17/21, 4:42 PM ET

WAS WR Curtis Samuel DNP Wednesday

Curtis Samuel logged a DNP Wednesday ahead of the Washington Football Team’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers. It seems as though the groin injury that has plagued Samuel all season still has not fully healed as he missed another practice. If Samuel is once again unable to suit up this weekend, the receiving corps will be led by Terry McLaurin, DeAndre Carter, and Adam Humphries. McLaurin would remain the top play here and would be expected to see a high volume of targets in a heavy passing attack for Washington, though it would still be a very tough matchup against the Carolina defense.

Cam Newton

Carolina Panthers
11/17/21, 4:20 PM ET

CAR QB Cam Newton "trending" towards starting this Sunday

Cam Newton is “trending” towards starting this Sunday according to HC Matt Rhule. As expected, it seems as though Newton will take over the starting job for the Panthers and it will be his to lose going forward. Newton was effective this past weekend during limited snaps throwing for a touchdown as well as rushing for one which exemplifies the type of dual threat upside Newton should offer going forward. Newton can be considered this weekend for tournaments, though there are some unknowns regarding how much of the offense Cam is comfortable with after only being with the team for a couple of weeks.

Kareem Hunt

Kansas City Chiefs
11/17/21, 1:45 PM ET

CLE RB Kareem Hunt (calf) ruled out Sunday

As expected, Kareem Hunt has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. The Browns hope to get back both Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton from the COVID list this week which would mean Chubb would lead the backfield with D’Ernest Johnson and Felton available to back him up. Johnson will likely play a bigger role going forward as he has performed admirably both times he was asked to lead the backfield. Chubb will still be the Browns running back to roster as he figures to see a heavy workload in a game the Browns are expected to be leading on Sunday.

Ricky Seals-Jones

Indianapolis Colts
11/17/21, 1:40 PM ET

WAS TE Ricky Seals-Jones (hip) DNP Wednesday; "Optimism" TE Logan Thomas could return this week

Ricky Seals-Jones logged a DNP Wednesday due to a hip injury while HC Ron Rivera said that there was “optimism” TE Logan Thomas could return this week against the Carolina Panthers. If Thomas is able to return Seals-Jones status won’t be too important but If Thomas were once again to be out Seals-Jones would be in line to continue to play a massive role in the offense and offer a value option at the position. If both were to be out, John Bates and preseason standout Sammis Reyes would likely split time at the position. It will be important to monitor the status of both Seals-Jones and Thomas as the week progresses.

Baker Mayfield

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
11/17/21, 1:07 PM ET

CLE QB Baker Mayfield, WR Jarvis Landry, and WR Anthony Schwartz will not practice Wednesday

Baker Mayfield, Jarvis Landry, and Anthony Schwartz will not practice Wednesday ahead of the Browns matchup with the Detroit Lions. Mayfield believes he will be ready to go by this weekend but is managing soreness in his shoulder so it is not surprising that he will take today off. Landry is in a similar situation dealing with lingering knee pain, and is expected to be ready by this weekend. Schwartz is in the concussion protocol so his status is the most uncertain but he is only expected to lay a minor role if available. Tomorrow and Friday should give us more clarity on each player’s availability for Sunday.

Jared Goff

Detroit Lions
11/17/21, 12:25 PM ET

DET QB Jared Goff (oblique) will not practice Wednesday

Jared Goff, who is currently considered as day-to-day according to HC Dan Campbell, will not practice Wednesday ahead of the Lions matchup against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Tim Boyle will see the starter reps at practice and this opens the door for him to draw the start this weekend. If Boyle gets the start the already poor Lions offense will take another hit and will likely be less efficient. At this point, the only players that are DFS relevant are D’Andre Swift and T.J. Hockenson who will both have their expected production lowered if Goff is unable to suit up. It will probably be best to avoid any and all Detroit Lions this week regardless of who plays quarterback as they draw a tough matchup against the Browns defense.

Latavius Murray

Buffalo Bills
11/17/21, 12:19 PM ET

BAL RB Latavius Murray returns to practice Wednesday

Latavius Murray has returned to practice Wednesday ahead of the Ravens matchup with the Chicago Bears on Sunday. This was expected after Le’Veon Bell was released yesterday and it seems as though Murray should be healthy enough to take back his role in the Baltimore backfield alongside fellow members Devonta Freeman and Ty’Son Williams. Freeman and Murray should be expected to see the bulk of the carries with Williams mixing in as well, though not playing nearly as many snaps. At this point, it is still best to avoid all members of the Ravens backfield due to the unreliable split of the work and Lamar Jackson’s rushing ability. This remains true in a tougher matchup against the Chicago Bears defense who is 10th in fantasy points allowed to running backs.
