Rams release K Cairo Santos

The Rams have released K Cairo Santos, which suggests that Greg Zuerlein is healthy and ready to make his return Week 7.

Larry Fitzgerald

Arizona Cardinals

Larry Fitzgerald (back) limited in practice Tuesday

As has been the case with almost all of his early week practices this season, Larry Fitzgerald was limited in practice Tuesday due to a back injury. While it appears his hamstring may finally have healed up, he is now dealing with a back injury as well. There is nothing to indicate his status for Week 7 is in jeopardy, although thus far he has had a very minimal impact in the Cardinals’ Rosen-lead offense.

Robert Woods

Pittsburgh Steelers

A Larger Target Share?

With Cooper Kupp likely out this week for the Rams, expect Woods to draw more targets once again as the safety valve receiver for Jared Goff. He posted a 7/109 line on ten targets last week against the Broncos, and this is a more favorable matchup against a weak 49ers defense. Woods is one of my favorite receiver targets of the week, and he brings a great combination of safety and upside to the table.

Rob Gronkowski

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

A Strong Game Theory Play

Gronkowski has disappeared since Week 1, largely because teams have schemed to take him out of the game plan. That’s not going to be possible as often going forward now that Julian Edelman is back and Josh Gordon is getting healthy. This is no doubt a tough matchup for Gronk against a Bears team that is solid defensively, but I expect him to get some looks in this game. Fire him up as a contrarian option, especially since the masses will likely flock to Ertz in a more favorable matchup. This is a game theory play.

Tarik Cohen

New York Jets

On the Rise

Matt Nagy knows what he has in Tarik Cohen, and that is an explosive playmaker who can be deployed in a number of different settings. His snap and touch count have been steadily on the rise of late, and Cohen is basically even with Howard in the pecking order when it comes to Chicago running backs right now. I love the upside that he provides in GPP formats, and the price tag is still too cheap. Cohen has been the better option for the last two games now, and it would be no surprise if that continues in a sneaky potential shootout with the Patriots here.

Blake Bortles

New Orleans Saints
10/16/18, 4:44 PM ET

Cheap Options

I don’t necessarily LOVE the Jaguars offense this week, but I do love the dirt cheap price tags we can get on Bortles and his receivers. This is a week where we are going to want to spend some money on high-end players, especially at RB, so getting the salary savings here works out well. Houston currently ranks 2nd in DVOA against the rush and just 25th against the pass, so there’s solid upside at a very reasonable cost with a Bortles/Cole or Bortles/Westbrook pairing this week. Look for this team to get back on track after two very bad losses.

Todd Gurley

Atlanta Falcons

An Absolute Beast.

I faded Gurley last week and won’t make that mistake twice in a row. He’s a touchdown and yardage machine. In addition, the Rams are double digit road favorites against a bad team and have an implied team total of 31 points. Look for Gurley to find the end zone multiple times once again. This guy is far and away the top running back in the NFL right now, and the system will keep him rolling — especially against the 49ers.

Devonta Freeman

Baltimore Ravens

Falcons placing RB Devonta Freeman on IR

Freeman has been week-to-week for some time now so the Falcons’ former lead back elected for groin surgery today. Atlanta will move forward with Tevin Coleman and Ito Smith. Prior to last week, Coleman was operating as the 1A to Smith’s 1B, however, Smith had been steadily making ground in snaps and this past Sunday, the backfield was nearly an even timeshare with Smith actually out-touching Coleman. Expect close to a 50-50 split between the two backs in the coming weeks with Smith being the better value for the time being as the rookie is substantially cheaper across sites.

Matt Breida, George Kittle and Pierre Garcon active Monday night for the 49ers. Dante Pettis and Trent Taylor inactive.

All in line with reports throughout the day, Matt Breida, George Kittle and Pierre Garcon are active Monday night for the 49ers, while Dante Pettis and Trent Taylor are inactive. C.J. Beathard will have the majority of the starting offense active, with Marquise Goodwin healthy as well. Look for all active parties to see their usual workloads in a game the 49ers figure to be trying to keep up with the Packers offense.

Rod Streater

Browns WR Rod Streater (neck) out for the season

An already thin Browns receiving corps gets thinner as WR Rod Streater has been ruled out for the season due to a neck injury. With the loss of Derrick Willies to IR as well, new signee Breshad Perriman may get an opportunity sooner than expected to make an impact on this Browns passing attack. Jarvis Landry will continue to be the primary target, with David Njoku and Antonio Callaway seeing a healthy amount of targets as well.

Matt Breida

San Francisco 49ers
10/15/18, 5:36 PM ET

Matt Breida (shoulder/ankle), George Kittle (knee), and Pierre Garcon (shoulder/knee) are all expected to play Monday night

Matt Breida (shoulder/ankle), George Kittle (knee), and Pierre Garcon (shoulder/knee) are all expected to play Monday night against the Packers. Breida’s activation comes as a surprise, as he was originally expected to need to miss more time due to the ankle injury that forced an early exit from his Week 5 matchup with the Cardinals. Kittle’s status was also brought into question earlier with the promotion of TE Ross Dwelley from the practice squad, but it appears he is good to go as well. With Garcon also active, C.J. Beathard will have all of his passing weapons at his disposal for the Monday night showdown.
