Erasmo Ramirez : FD: $7,000 — DK: $6,000
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 185.2 — SIERA: 4.17 — ERA: 4.27 — K%: 18.5% — BB%: 8.1% — HR/9: 1.1

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.299 (Rank: 24) — Strikeout Rate: 21.1% (Rank: 17)
Pitchers per PA: 3.87 (Rank: 8)
Analysis: Ramirez has pitched well recently, but he is still someone that I have a hard time using in cash games. His strikeout rate is below the league average and tonight he faces an Astros’ offense that leads the majors in home runs. Ramirez is a large underdog tonight on the road. He can safely be avoided in all league formats.
Pitcher Rating: 45.7
Scott Kazmir : FD: $9,200 — DK: $10,000
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 326.0 — SIERA: 3.71 — ERA: 2.95 — K%: 21.2% — BB%: 7.0% — HR/9: 0.7

Tampa Bay Rays Offense (2015)
vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.327 (Rank: 5) — Strikeout Rate: 21.7% (Rank: 20)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.366 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 20.2% (Rank: 10)
Pitchers per PA: 3.85 (Rank: 10)
Analysis: Kazmir may have a 1.05 ERA over the last month of play, but his indicators suggest some regression. During that same time period, he posted a 4.49 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 15.7%. He may be a popular target tonight, given the fact that he is a sizable favorite in what is expected to be a low scoring game, but I’m not completely sold. The Rays are actually one of the best hitting teams against left-handed pitching this season.
Pitcher Rating: 69.6
Batter Grind Down
Tampa Bay
The Rays have the fifth-highest team wOBA against left-handed pitching this season. They draw a difficult matchup tonight against Scott Kazmir, but they get to face him in the hitter-friendly Minute Maid Park. Evan Longoria and Logan Forsythe are both in play as secondary options at their respective positions.

Houston
The Astros draw a favorable matchup tonight against Erasmo Ramirez, who has given up a .335 wOBA to right-handed hitters. That’s not to say that we can’t target the left-handed bats in this lineup, but Ramirez is clearly a reverse-splits pitcher. Carlos Correa is an elite play tonight at the very thin shortstop position.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.286 (Rank: 28) — Strikeout Rate: 21.8% (Rank: 23)
Pitchers per PA: 3.72 (Rank: 26)
Analysis: Nicolino has not fared that well in his first 16 major league innings of work. The sample size is still extremely small, but he has only managed to strikeout 5.9% of the batters that he has faced. He is an easy avoid tonight against the Brewers in Miller Park. If you are looking for a value pitcher tonight, scroll down to the game being played in Petco.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.292 (Rank: 25) — Strikeout Rate: 17.2% (Rank: 4)
Pitchers per PA: 3.72 (Rank: 27)
Analysis: Garza may have a 2.56 ERA over the last month of play, but his peripheral statistics suggest that he has been the same pitcher that he has been all season. During that stretch, he posted a 4.60 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 18.3%. Garza does draw a favorable matchup against the Marlins, though, and he should see plenty of run support. He could be worth a look as an SP2 on multi-pitcher sites.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.315 (Rank: 15) — Strikeout Rate: 20.7% (Rank: 14)
Pitchers per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 20)
Analysis: Heston has not been sharp in his recent outings, posting a 5.05 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 14.5% over the last month of play. To make matters worse, he draws a bad matchup against the Cardinals, who are ranked 12th in team wOBA and eighth in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Heston is more risk than potential reward tonight on the road.

Pitchers per PA: 3.75 (Rank: 24)
Analysis: Wacha has pitched well in his recent starts, posting a 3.56 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 25.6%. The biggest issue tonight is his matchup against the Giants, who are ranked fourth in both team wOBA and strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. At this price point, I prefer Gerrit Cole, but Wacha could be a nice pivot in tournaments. He has a great chance to pick up another win tonight at home.

San Francisco
The Giants draw a difficult matchup tonight against Michael Wacha, who has held both left and right-handed hitters under a .295 wOBA over the last two seasons. The Giants are one of the best offenses in baseball against right-handed pitching, but their hitters are overpriced for their matchup against Wacha.

Analysis: Rodon may have a 6.75 ERA over the last month of play, but his low SIERA and high strikeout rate suggest that he could be in for a very strong finish to the regular season. He dominated this same Angels lineup in his last start, although tonight he has to face them in Los Angeles. It’s always difficult to pitch well against the same team in two straight starts. While I like his upside that he provides, I’m not sure that tonight is the best time to target him.

Analysis: Heaney is another impressive young left-hander. He has cooled off after his great start to the season, but he still has a 3.98 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 17.1% since the start of 2014. He draws a favorable matchup tonight against the White Sox, who are ranked 30th in team wOBA and 17th in strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season. Heaney is going to get overlooked tonight, which makes him an intriguing tournament play at home.

Analysis: Perez may be pitching in Petco Park tonight, but that’s about all that he has going for him. Over the last month of play, he has a 6.15 SIERA with a walk rate (11.5%) that is much higher than his strikeout rate (6.9%). Perez should be avoided in all league formats tonight.

Analysis: Rea only threw 75 pitched in his major league debut, but he had four strikeouts in five innings of work in a win over the Reds. The Padres will likely stretch him out a bit tonight and at his price point, he doesn’t have to do a whole lot to reach value. If he can give us six innings and pick up a win, he will be the best value on the board tonight. Obviously, that’s a big IF, but he’s a favorable at home with a nice matchup against the Braves.

Atlanta
Even though Colin Rea is only making his second career major league start tonight, I’m still not a fan of the Braves’ offense. They lack power and they lack an ability to score runs. They can be avoided tonight in the pitcher-friendly Petco Park.

The Padres draw a favorable matchup against the struggling Williams Perez, but after coming off of a series in Coors Field, they are way too expensive for Petco Park. Justin Upton and Matt Kemp are both decent tournament plays, but the Padres’ offense can be avoided in cash games.
