Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.336 (Rank: 8) — Strikeout Rate: 22.8% (Rank: 21)
Pitches per PA: 3.79 (Rank: 19)
Analysis: Jimenez has not been as sharp as he was earlier in the season, posting a 4.52 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 17.1% over the last month of play. While he does get to pitch in a National League ballpark tonight, this isn’t the most ideal matchup on the board. The Nationals are ranked eighth in team wOBA over the last two weeks of play and are listed as sizable favorites tonight at home.
Pitcher Rating: 57.3
Gio Gonzalez : FD: $9,600 — DK: $9,600

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.332 (Rank: 10) — Strikeout Rate: 22.6% (Rank: 20)
Pitches per PA: 3.82 (Rank: 17)
Analysis: Gonzalez has been in good form recently, posting a 3.52 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 28.3% over the last month of play. He draws a favorable matchup against the Orioles, who have been surprisingly awful against left-handed pitching this season. They are ranked 25th in team wOBA and 28th in strikeout rate on the season. On a short slate, Gonzalez is a viable SP2 on multi-pitcher sites.
Pitcher Rating: 74.8

The Orioles draw a tough matchup tonight against Gio Gonzalez, who has held both left and right-handed hitters under a .310 wOBA over the last two seasons. The right-handed hitters have the edge over the left-handers in this lineup, but the Orioles are secondary options at best tonight.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.362 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 18.9% (Rank: 7)
Pitches per PA: 3.85 (Rank: 10)
Analysis: Warren had a mediocre start in his last time out, but he only threw 65 pitches. He has not thrown more than 65 pitches in a single appearance in nearly three months. He will likely be on a pitch count again tonight, which limits his fantasy appeal. To make matters worse, he has to face a Blue Jays’ offense that is ranked first in team wOBA and seventh in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season.
Pitcher Rating: 55.3
David Price : FD: $12,000 — DK: $12,400

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.294 (Rank: 27) — Strikeout Rate: 19.8% (Rank: 9)
Pitches per PA: 3.91 (Rank: 3)
Analysis: Price is the premier pitching option on the board tonight. He has been in excellent form recently, posting a 2.70 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 31.3% over the last month of play. While he has had some historically bad outings against the Yankees, overall he has a pretty solid track record against them. He is a large favorite at home and the Yankees are in the middle of a hitting slump — 27th in team wOBA over the last two weeks of play.

Analysis: Johnson has been a serviceable value play here, but a 5.36 SIERA with a walk rate of 11.3% over the last month is nothing that jumps off the page. He should be avoided tonight against the Tigers, who are ranked eighth in team wOBA and 15th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Analysis: Wolf is past the prime of his career — well past it. He has been a serviceable starter for the White Sox, but we are starting to see some leaks. Over the last month of play, he has a 4.55 SIERA (6.48 ERA) with a low strikeout rate of 15.9%. Even though the White Sox are one of the worst offenses in baseball against left-handed pitching, Wolf is not a recommended play tonight. This one is expected to be a shootout.

Pitches per PA: 3.88 (Rank: 6)
Analysis: Miller has been in decent form recently, posting a 4.16 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 20.0% over the last month of play. The issue tonight is his matchup against the Mets. New York is ranked eighth in team wOBA over the last two weeks and they also average the sixth-most pitches per plate appearance this season. The price point is appealing, but run support from the Braves’ offense is a rare sight these days.

Analysis: Niese has not been in the best of form recently, posting a 5.32 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 11.2% over the last month of play. While I generally don’t like to target pitchers in bad form, the combination of price and matchup has me intrigued. The Braves are ranked 28th in team wOBA against left-handed pitching this season and Niese’s price has come all the way down to $5,800 on DraftKings. He is on my radar as an SP2 tonight, even in cash games.

If this was any other offense, there would be some hitters to target against Jon Niese. Unfortunately, this is the Braves that we are talking about. They are huge underdogs tonight on the road and they are one of the worst hitting teams in baseball against left-handed pitching.

The Mets are large favorites tonight at home against Shelby Miller, but their bats seem a bit overpriced for this matchup. There are better matchups (TOR, DET, PIT, COL) to exploit tonight, so limit your exposure to the Mets in this one.

Boston Red Sox Offense (2015)

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.348 (Rank: 2) — Strikeout Rate: 20.3% (Rank: 12)
Pitches per PA: 3.96 (Rank: 2)
Analysis: Archer has pitched well recently, posting a 3.43 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 29.0%. The biggest issue that he has had recently is his pitch count. He has throw a lot of pitches per inning in his recent starts, which makes it tough to pitch more than six innings. He draws a tough matchup tonight against the Red Sox, who are ranked eighth in team wOBA and second in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. At his price point, Archer should be restricted to tournament play tonight.
Pitcher Rating: 80.1
Eduardo Rodriguez : FD: $7,400 — DK: $8,300
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 109.2 — SIERA: 4.15 — ERA: 3.94 — K%: 19.0% — BB%: 7.3% — HR/9: 1.0

Tampa Bay Rays Offense (2015)
vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.323 (Rank: 7) — Strikeout Rate: 22.6% (Rank: 24)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.320 (Rank: 17) — Strikeout Rate: 23.1% (Rank: 23)
Pitches per PA: 3.83 (Rank: 14)
Analysis: Rodriguez may have a 1.93 ERA over the last month, but during that stretch he owns a 4.02 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 20.0%. This is a matchup that should suit him well, as he is a reverse-splits pitcher. The Rays hit southpaws well, but most of that damage comes off of the bats of the right-handed hitters. Rodriguez is not my favorite pitcher on the board, but he provides nice strikeout upside at a fair price.
Pitcher Rating: 58.5

Tampa Bay
As mentioned above, Eduardo Rodriguez is a reverse-splits pitcher. Unfortunately, the Rays don’t have any left-handed hitters that excel against southpaws. The recommended plays here are still the right-handed hitters, although they are secondary options tonight in Fenway Park.

Boston
The Red Sox draw a difficult matchup tonight against Chris Archer, who has held both left and right-handed hitters under a .285 wOBA over the last two seasons. David Ortiz has had some success against Archer though, making him an intriguing tournament play tonight at home.
