Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.335 (Rank: 4) — Strikeout Rate: 23.5% (Rank: 26)
Pitchers per PA: 3.85 (Rank: 8)
Analysis: The Blue Jays winning streak came to and end last night and if Matt Harvey has anything to say about it, the Mets will hand Toronto their second straight loss. Copeland will be making his second career major league start. He has been an effective pitcher in the minors, but he has had a very low strikeout rate throughout his career. Even in a favorable matchup against the Mets, he can safely be avoided in all league formats.
Pitcher Rating:48.9
Matt Harvey : FD: $10,400 — DK: $10,800

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.368 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 15.7% (Rank: 2)
Pitchers per PA: 3.79 (Rank: 15)
Analysis: Harvey has had a few bad outings this season, but he still has one of the best SIERA and one of the best strikeout rates in all of baseball. In just over 79 innings of work this season, Harvey has posted a 2.99 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 25.9%. He draws a tough matchup against the Blue Jays, but he gets to face them at home playing under National League rules. Harvey is right there with Jake Arrieta as the top pitching option on the board tonight.
Pitcher Rating:84.9

Toronto
NONE – Even though Matt Harvey has given up a few big outings this season, he is still the Dark Knight. He has one of the highest strikeout rates in all of baseball and the Blue Jays have to face him in the pitcher-friendly Citi Field.

Analysis: Flores has played well over the last two weeks with a .357 wOBA and a .261 ISO. He has been hitting 5th in the Mets’ lineup, which is a great spot for a player at his price point. He draws a favorable matchup against the inexperienced Scott Copeland. The Mets are a sneaky offense to target, as they have some of the cheapest hitters on the board tonight.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.323 (Rank: 11) — Strikeout Rate: 21.3% (Rank: 17)
Pitchers per PA: 3.80 (Rank: 13)
Analysis: Anderson has pitched well over the last month of play with a 3.55 SIERA and a strikeout rate of 17.3%. The biggest concern here is that he is pitching away from Dodger Stadium. Globe Life Park is a much better park for hitters than it is for pitchers. Anderson is a reverse-splits pitcher, which actually hurts his appeal tonight, as the Rangers’ lineup is full of batters that hit from the left-side of the plate.
Pitcher Rating:59.4
Chi Chi Gonzalez : FD: $6,900 — DK: $5,400

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.333 (Rank: 5) — Strikeout Rate: 20.2% (Rank: 13)
Pitchers per PA: 3.91 (Rank: 4)
Analysis: In his first three starts, Gonzalez has posted a 0.42 ERA. Hopefully a lot of DFS players will see that ERA and jump on board tonight. I’m not falling for it though, as his peripheral statistics tell a completely different story. He has a 5.62 SIERA with a walk rate that is higher than his strikeout rate. He draws arguably the worst matchup on the board, as the Dodgers are ranked 1st in wOBA (.348) against right-handed pitching this season.

Last 14 Days: PA: 58 — wOBA: 0.420 — ISO: 0.391 — wRC+: 172
Analysis: As mentioned above, we shouldn’t put any stock into Chi Chi Gonzalez’s 0.42 ERA. He has had some great luck in his first three major league starts and he’ll likely regress here soon. That could start as early as tonight, as the Dodgers have the highest team wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Pederson has terrific upside and he sees a nice ballpark boost tonight playing in Globe Life Park.

Analysis: As usual, shortstop is one of the thinnest positions on the board. Andrus looks like the best value at the position though. He will likely be hitting in the heart of the Rangers’ lineup and he draws a favorable matchup against Brett Anderson, who has not pitched well on the road this season. At his price point, it’s hard to find a better value tonight at shortstop.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.323 (Rank: 8) — Strikeout Rate: 21.6% (Rank: 23)
Pitchers per PA: 3.99 (Rank: 1)
Analysis: Bauer is looking to bounce back after a rough outing against the Mariners. He has really pitched well this season, but that last outing did hurt his ERA and SIERA. He draws a decent matchup against the Cubs, who strike out at a high rate against right-handed pitching. The Cubs have a lot of power in their lineup though, and they average the most pitches per plate appearance of any team this season. There are better pitching options tonight.
Pitcher Rating:61.4
Jake Arrieta : FD: $9,800 — DK: $9,000

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.317 (Rank: 11) — Strikeout Rate: 17.5% (Rank: 4)
Pitchers per PA: 3.92 (Rank: 3)
Analysis: Arrieta has been dominant over the last month of play, posting a 2.54 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 27.1%. He has one of the lowest walk rates among starters during that stretch and he produces a high ground ball rate. The Indians are a very competent offense that doesn’t strike out often, but he gets to face them in a National League park. It also helps that the wind is blowing in tonight at Wrigley Field. You can make the case that Arrieta is the top pitching option on the board tonight.

Cleveland
NONE – Since the start of 2014, Jake Arrieta has held left and right-handed hitters under a .265 wOBA. He has one of the lowest SIERA’s in all of baseball and the Indians will be playing this game under National League rules. There are better matchups to exploit tonight.

Analysis: Young is an easy pitcher to avoid in daily fantasy. Since the start of 2014, he has a 5.15 SIERA and a low strikeout rate of 16.1%. He has even worse numbers in the last month of play. Even though the Brewers’ offense continues to struggle to score runs, they should be able to get it going tonight against Young.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.251 (Rank: 30) — Strikeout Rate: 19.5% (Rank: 9)
Pitchers per PA: 3.66 (Rank: 29)
Analysis: Garza’s strikeout rate continues to lower, as he has only struck out 15.5% of the batters that he has faced over the last month of play. Without a high strikeout rate, Garza is an average right-handed pitcher. He can safely be avoided tonight against a Royals’ offense that may finally be coming out of their slump.

He draws a terrific matchup against Chris Young, who has given up a .332 wOBA to left-handed hitters. I expect this game to be higher scoring than the total that is set at 7.5 runs.

Analysis: Hellickson is typically a pitcher that we like to target hitters against. While he has pitched better recently, he has still given up a .329+ wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters since the start of last season. His strikeout potential isn’t high enough to overcome the few mistakes that he’s likely going to make. He can safely be avoided against a surging Angels’ offense.

Analysis: Most of the talk will be about Matt Harvey and Jake Arrieta tonight, but Garrett Richards isn’t far behind. He is coming off of one of his best fantasy outings of the season, striking out seven batters in a win over the Rays. While the Diamondbacks do have a potent offense, Richards gets to face them at home. He is a large favorite and he is cheaper than both Harvey and Arrieta on FanDuel. He deserves a look in cash games and tournaments tonight.

Arizona
NONE – Garrett Richards is rounding into form, as he is coming off of one of his best starts of the season. Since the start of 2014, he has held left and right-handed hitters under a .275 wOBA. I’ll be avoiding the Diamondbacks in lieu of offenses with better matchups.

Analysis: Trout has been red-hot over the last two weeks with a .460 wOBA and a .404 ISO. He has great power against left and right-handed pitching and he is also a threat to steal. He is the top outfield option on the board tonight, as he squares off against Jeremy Hellickson, who has given up a .363 wOBA to right-handed hitters since the start of 2014.
