Analysis: Hudson will draw the start for the Giants tonight, as they take on the Diamondbacks in Arizona. Hudson has been a serviceable starter over the last two seasons, posting a 3.86 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 14.2%. The red flag here is his low strikeout rate. That really caps his upside in daily fantasy. He should be avoided in all league formats tonight on the road.

Analysis: Anderson has been one of the most hittable pitchers in baseball this season. He has an average SIERA, a below-average strikeout rate, and he struggled with hitters from both sides of the plate. He is an easy pitcher to avoid tonight, as the Giants are ranked eighth in team wOBA and fifth in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season.

The Giants see a favorable ballpark boost tonight playing in the hitter-friendly Chase Field. They also draw a favorable matchup against Chase Anderson, who has given up a .320+ wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters over the last two seasons. Don’t be afraid to use a few Giants’ hitters in this one.

Analysis: Kershaw is the top pitching option on the board yet again. If you have been fading him recently, then you know as well as anyone how dominant he can be, because when he is doing his thing, it’s tough to cash if you don’t have him in your lineups. Over the last month of play, he has a ridiculous 1.79 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 37.2%. He draws a favorable matchup tonight against the Angels, who have the third-lowest team wOBA against left-handed pitching this season. Once again, fade Kershaw at your own risk. I will personally be starting both my FD and DK cash game lineups with Kershaw and then will work in whatever hitters I can.

Analysis: After a nice start to the season, Heaney has been an average pitcher at best recently. Over the last month of play, he has a 4.34 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 16.4%. He draws a difficult matchup against the Dodgers, who are ranked fourth in team wOBA and 12th in strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season. With Clayton Kershaw pitching opposite him, Heaney should be avoided in both cash games and tournaments tonight.

LA Dodgers
The Dodgers draw a mediocre matchup tonight against Andrew Heaney. While he has been tough on left-handed hitters, he has allowed a .336 wOBA to right-handed bats. Justin Turner is underpriced across the industry and has been making some great contact recently. It’s only a matter of time before those line drives turn into extra base hits.

Analysis: Kazmir has been in relatively good form recently, posting a 3.77 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.4% over the last month of play. Cue narrative street up, because Kazmir gets to face his former team tonight. While the A’s may not strikeout at a high rate, they also don’t hit left-handed pitching very well, ranking 20th in team wOBA this season. Kazmir is an intriguing tournament play against his former ball club, but I won’t be using him in any cash games tonight.

Analysis: Gray’s strikeout rate has been down recently, which is a big red flag. Over the last month of play, he has a 3.91 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 14.8%. Those numbers are mediocre at best. We always say that we don’t like to target pitchers in bad form, especially when that form isn’t accompanied by a significant price drop. Gray is overpriced right now and I will be looking elsewhere at pitcher tonight.
Pitcher Rating: 72.7

Even though I’m not thrilled with the way that Sonny Gray has been pitching recently, he is still a very tough pitcher to score runs on. Over the last two seasons, he has held both left and right-handed hitters under a .270 wOBA. Avoid both the pitcher and the offense in this one.

While he does draw a favorable matchup against the Padres, he should be restricted to tournament play tonight. The price point is appealing, but he still carries too much risk to use in a cash game.

He draws an interesting matchup against the Rockies, who are a much different offense away from Coors Field. Batter Grind Down
Texas
Even though the Rangers hit right-handed pitching well as a team, they have a low team total tonight against Taijuan Walker, who has held both left and right-handed hitters under a .310 wOBA over the last two seasons. The Rangers are secondary fantasy options tonight.

Seattle
The Mariners draw a difficult matchup against Cole Hamels, who seems ready for a breakout performance. Nelson Cruz and Franklin Gutierrez would both make nice tournaments plays if they are in the lineup, but the rest of the Mariners can safely be avoided tonight.
