Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.304 (Rank: 19) — Strikeout Rate: 18.9% (Rank: 16)
Pitchers per PA: 3.77 (Rank: 19)
Analysis: Eovaldi has been a serviceable pitcher for the Yankees this season, but he comes into tonight’s game in less than stellar form. Over his last 25 innings, he has a 4.22 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 15.9%. He draws a decent matchup against the Angels, but he’s not a pitcher that is really on my radar tonight. He doesn’t have great strikeout potential and he is a small underdog on the road.
Pitcher Rating:50.2
Matt Shoemaker : FD: $7,900 — DK: $7,200

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.372 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 15.1% (Rank: 3)
Pitchers per PA: 3.88 (Rank: 5)
Analysis: The Angels have been frustrated with Shoemaker’s inconsistency this season. I have to agree! He has not been able to string together quality starts this season, which generally makes him a better tournament play than a cash game play. He should be avoided tonight though, as he draws a very tough matchup against the Yankees. On the season, New York is ranked third in wOBA (.329) against right-handed pitching and first in wOBA (.372) over the last 14 days.

The Angels draw a favorable matchup against Nathan Eovaldi tonight at home. Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.320 (Rank: 16) — Strikeout Rate: 17.4% (Rank: 6)
Pitchers per PA: 3.72 (Rank: 25)
Analysis: Lohse has been one of the most hittable pitchers in baseball this season. His strikeout rate is down and his wOBA allowed to left and right-handed hitters is up. That’s not a great combination for a pitcher. The good news is that he gets to face the Phillies, who are ranked dead last in wOBA (.279) against right-handed pitching. If there was ever a matchup for Lohse to break out of his slump, this would be it.
Pitcher Rating:54.2
Aaron Harang : FD: $6,800 — DK: $6,300

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.323 (Rank: 14) — Strikeout Rate: 16.0% (Rank: 4)
Pitchers per PA: 3.72 (Rank: 28)
Analysis: Harang has not been sharp in his recent outings, posting a 4.89 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 14.1% over the last month of play. He draws a favorable matchup against the Brewers, but I will side with Milwaukee’s offense in this one. They have been much better recently, ranking 14th in wOBA (.323) and fourth in strikeout rate (16.0%) over the last 14 days.

The Brewers face a very hittable Aaron Harang tonight, who hasn’t been particularly effective against left or right-handed hitters this season. The left-handed bats of Adam Lind and Gerardo Parra have the splits in their favor, but don’t count out the right-handed hitters in this lineup.

Philadelphia
This is a classic case of a bad offense against a bad pitcher. The most likely scenario is that both Kyle Lohse and the Phillies’ offense will both look better than their season averages thus far. This is one of the few times this season that I don’t mind targeting a few Phillies’ hitters.

Analysis: Burnett has pitched well this season, but don’t let the 2.01 ERA fool you. He is not in that elite category of starting pitchers. He’s an above-average pitcher with decent strikeout potential. At his price point, he should be avoided tonight. Burnett draws a very difficult matchup against the Tigers in Comerica Park.

Analysis: Simon has seen a spike in his strikeouts recently, but he still has a below-average strikeout rate to go along with a 4.24 SIERA over the last two seasons. The Pirates are ranked below the major league average in wOBA (.303) and strikeout rate (19.9%) against right-handed pitching, but they are still a scary offense to target pitchers against. The Pirates also get to utilize the DH tonight in the American League ballpark.

The Tigers are favored in tonight’s game against A.J. Burnett, but they don’t exactly have the lineup to take advantage of his splits. Burnett gives up a higher wOBA to left-handed hitters than he does to right-handed hitters. I see the Tigers as secondary fantasy options tonight.

Doug Fister : FD: $6,900 — DK: $6,600
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 216.0 — SIERA: 4.15 — K%: 13.9% — BB%: 4.0% — FB Rate: 34.2% — HR/FB: 10.0%

Atlanta Braves Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.307 (Rank: 18) — Strikeout Rate: 16.8% (Rank: 3)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.275 (Rank: 27) — Strikeout Rate: 18.5% (Rank: 14)
Pitchers per PA: 3.77 (Rank: 17)
Analysis: Fister has never been a high strikeout pitcher, but he used to be a lot more efficient than he has been this season. With a SIERA well over 4.00 and a low strikeout rate, he provides very little fantasy appeal. Even against a depleted Braves’ offense, Fister is not on my radar tonight.
Pitcher Rating:55.6
Matthew Wisler : FD: $5,400 — DK: $6,000

Washington Nationals Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.319 (Rank: 14) — Strikeout Rate: 20.3% (Rank: 21)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.346 (Rank: 5) — Strikeout Rate: 16.9% (Rank: 5)
Pitchers per PA: 3.73 (Rank: 24)
Analysis: Wisler is making his third career start tonight. Do you know how many strikeouts he accumulated in his first two outings? Get ready for it! Two strikeouts in 12 innings of work. A strikeout rate that low will get you the lowest pitcher rating of the night.
Pitcher Rating:22.6

Washington
The sample size is way too small for us to consider Matthew Wisler a reverse-splits pitcher after only two starts. For now, I will continue to favor the left-handed hitters that are facing him. Denard Span is a great cash game play, while Bryce Harper and Clint Robinson are also worth a look.

Atlanta
Even though Doug Fister has a very low strikeout rate, he has still held left and right-handed hitters under a .310 wOBA over the last two seasons. A Freddie Freeman-less Braves’ offense is not very appealing. Jace Peterson and Nick Markakis are secondary options tonight.
