J.A. Happ : FD: $7,300 — DK: $7,000
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 301.0 — SIERA: 4.00 — ERA: 4.07 — K%: 19.3% — BB%: 7.0% — HR/9: 1.1

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.331 (Rank: 11) — Strikeout Rate: 17.3% (Rank: 7)
Pitches per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 23)
Analysis: Happ has been in surprisingly good form recently, posting a 3.41 SIERA (0.60 ERA) with a strikeout rate of 22.8% over the last month of play. While another southpaw (Francisco Liriano) had success against the Reds last night, these two pitchers are not of the same caliber. This is still a fairly difficult matchup, as the Reds are ranked ninth in team wOBA and eighth in strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season. Even though his indicators look good, I will continue to avoid Happ.
Pitcher Rating: 66.0
Keyvius Sampson : FD: $5,200 — DK: $4,200
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 31.0 — SIERA: 4.64 — ERA: 6.68 — K%: 18.8% — BB%: 10.7% — HR/9: 1.2

Pittsburgh Pirates Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.313 (Rank: 16) — Strikeout Rate: 20.6% (Rank: 21)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.316 (Rank: 20) — Strikeout Rate: 19.6% (Rank: 17)
Pitches per PA: 3.79 (Rank: 18)
Analysis: Sampson has really struggled in his last few starts, posting a 5.14 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 15.9% and a walk rate of 11.9%. His matchup against the Pirates is mediocre at best and he has to face them at home in the hitter-friendly confines of the Great American Ballpark. There are better pitching options tonight in both cash games and tournaments.
Pitcher Rating: 44.7

The Pirates see a small ballpark boost tonight playing in Cincinnati and they also draw a favorable matchup against Keyvius Sampson, who has allowed a .333+ wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters this season.

Cincinnati
Even though J.A. Happ has been pitching well recently, I’m not convinced that it will last. Over the last two seasons, Happ has given up a .321+ wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters. A discounted Todd Frazier remains an elite play on FanDuel.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.329 (Rank: 14) — Strikeout Rate: 23.3% (Rank: 26)
Pitches per PA: 3.96 (Rank: 2)
Analysis: Hutchison has been in good form over the last month of play, posting a 3.54 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 19.8%. He draws an awful matchup tonight against the Red Sox, who are ranked seventh in team wOBA and second in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. This game has the highest run total on the board and both pitchers can be avoided in what is expected to be a shootout.
Pitcher Rating: 59.2

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.383 (Rank: 2) — Strikeout Rate: 17.7% (Rank: 9)
Pitches per PA: 3.83 (Rank: 10)
Analysis: Kelly has a 1.65 ERA over the last month of play, but his 4.49 SIERA and 15.9% strikeout rate are mediocre at best. He draws the worst matchup in all of baseball tonight, as he has to face the Blue Jays, who are ranked second in team wOBA and seventh in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Avoid Kelly at all costs tonight.

The Blue Jays haven’t been tearing the cover off the ball in this series, but I believe that they have just been saving themselves for tonight’s matchup against Joe Kelly, who is a reverse-splits pitcher. The Blue Jays have the highest team total on the board and all of the right-handed bats are in play tonight in Boston.

The Red Sox have a tendency to let us down in favorable matchups, but once again, they have one of the highest team totals on the schedule tonight. Analysis: While Pena did make an appearance the other night, this will be his first career major league start. He has shown great strikeout potential in the minors with a K/9 over 9.0 in each of the last two seasons. He may not be the Brewers’ top prospect, but he is in their list of top ten. He draws a favorable matchup tonight against the Marlins, who are ranked 30th in team wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Pena is not a recommended cash game option, but I certainly can’t deny the tournament appeal at his cheap price point.

Analysis: Koehler has not been sharp in his last few outings, posting a 5.27 SIERA with a strikeout rate of only 14.3% over the last month of play. He is an easy avoid tonight against the Brewers, who are ranked fifth in team wOBA over the last two weeks of play. Koehler’s price point may be appealing, but his recent form takes him out of fantasy consideration tonight.

The Brewers may not be playing in the most hitter-friendly ballpark tonight, but they do draw a favorable matchup against Tom Koehler, who has given up a .322 wOBA to right-handed hitters. Jonathan Lucroy has a .395 wOBA over the last month of play and he remains an elite catching option tonight.

Analysis: Medlen is coming off of his worst start of the season. The good news is that the Royals let him throw 98 pitches in that outing, which was 20 pitches more than his previous season high. Without a pitch count to worry about, Medlen becomes a very interesting play tonight against the Twins, who are ranked 26th in team wOBA and 27th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. At a ridiculously cheap price of $4,600 on DraftKings, I have him locked in as my SP2.

Analysis: Tomlin has been a nice addition to the Indians’ rotation down the stretch. Over the last month of play, he has a 3.17 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 24.6%. Those numbers rival those of Corey Kluber during that stretch. He draws a nice matchup tonight against the White Sox, who are ranked 21st in team wOBA and 17th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Tomlin is a bit overpriced on DraftKings, but he is playable tonight on FanDuel.

Pitches per PA: 3.90 (Rank: 3)
Analysis: Samardzija has been a boom or bust fantasy option all season. His form seems to change with each start, which makes it extremely difficult to predict how he is going to perform in a certain matchup. On paper, the Indians present a tough matchup, which is why Samardzija should be restricted to tournament play tonight.
Pitcher Rating: 63.2

Cleveland
The Indians draw a mediocre matchup tonight against Jeff Samardzija, who has given up a .323 wOBA to left-handed hitters over the last two seasons. I don’t see any of the Indians’ bats as elite plays, but Michael Brantley and Jason Kipnis are both viable secondary options.

Chicago White Sox
Even though Josh Tomlin has pitched well recently, he has still given up a .361 wOBA to right-handed hitters over the last two seasons. Jose Abreu makes a nice play here, as he has a .388 wOBA and a .245 ISO against right-handed pitching since the start of the 2014 season.
