Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks will travel to Philadelphia for their road opener after defeating the Wizards at home on Thursday. Dwight Howard had an extremely productive game and collected nine of his 19 rebounds in the first quarter. With the Hawks missing Mike Scott and Tiago Splitter as their big men off the bench, Coach Mike Budenholzer staggered Millsap and Howard, making sure one was always on the court. Expect a similar rotation pattern this afternoon, with Scott and Splitter out again. The bench of the Hawks really came through with Dennis Schroder and Kent Bazemore struggling. Schroder picked up three quick fouls in a matter of two minutes in the second quarter and was replaced by Thabo Sefolosha. Tim Hardaway began making an impact in that second quarter with Kyle Korver struggling. Both Sefolosha and Hardaway carried the energy over into the second half, keeping Korver and Bazemore’s minutes low for the game. Malcolm Delaney played 19 minutes and is the only other point guard on the Hawks roster.
The Hawks are seven-point favorites against the Sixers, and pretty much the entire roster is in play. Look for a bounce back game from Dennis Schroder and Kent Bazemore while expecting the dominance of Paul Millsap to continue. Millsap and Howard did not see a price increase on DraftKings, while their salary barely rose $100 each on FanDuel. With the fifth-highest implied team total (106 points) and with a handful of great point guards on the slate, Schroder could go overlooked in an extremely favorable matchup. Millsap and Howard are obvious cash game plays since one of them will always be on the court. Thabo Sefolosha played well enough that he should get 20+ minutes today, but look for Bazemore to bounce back, as well. Bazemore signed a large contract over the summer to stay with the Hawks, and he’ll be hungry to prove he’s did not just have a contract year bump last season. Tim Hardaway is playing much better than Kyle Korver already and saw his preseason success carry over. Expect Hardaway and Korver to split the SG minutes evenly again. Korver was drafted by the 76ers, so maybe we can get a revenge narrative and watch him turn it around, too.

Philadelphia 76ers
The Sixers proved in their first game that they’ll be fun to watch and have a really hyped crowd backing them. Sergio Rodriguez is leading this team like a true point guard should. Rodriguez and Robert Covington led the team with 31 minutes apiece in their home opener against the Thunder on Wednesday. Joel Embiid dominated in his 22 minutes, scoring 20 real points while grabbing seven rebounds and swatting away two shots. Embiid will continue to have his minutes limited and is only a GPP option until he sees more time on the floor. In his 27 minutes, Dario Saric took 12 shots, the second-most shots on the team, but he missed 10 of them. Expect his minutes to remain close to 30, making him a viable tournament option. The Sixers used 11 players against the Thunder and will continue to go deep into their bench, limiting everyone’s upside. Jahlil Okafor and Jerami Grant both took 10 shots each off the bench and will be relied upon for scoring along with Nik Stauskas. Okafor is on a minutes restriction while Grant has never been a great shooter, and Stauskas is either really hot or really cold. Stauskas is min priced on DraftKings and only $200 over it on FanDuel.

Boston Celtics
The Celtics are already playing their third game in this young season. They defeated the Nets on Wednesday and lost to the Bulls in Chicago on Thursday. Head Coach Brad Stevens used 10 players both games and had both Isaiah Thomas and Terry Rozier on the court together at times. Avery Bradley already leads the team in minutes and should see 32+ again tonight. Jae Crowder is also seeing a heavy dose of minutes with rookie Jaylen Brown being used as his backup. Tyler Zeller started the second half over Amir Johnson against the Bulls, and we can continue to expect Johnson’s minutes to be limited. The Celtics will get a tough test tonight against the Hornets in Charlotte.
Avery Bradley is a strong cash game play who has elite tournament upside as well, with his price still under $6k on both sites. He’s slightly cheaper on DraftKings, making him a better play over there. The Hornets were a stout defensive team against point guards last year, and we can expect Isaiah Thomas and Terry Rozier to have their ceilings somewhat capped. Thomas is still a viable tournament option because he is this team’s leading scorer, but there are higher-upside PGs to choose from today. Al Horford has not had a huge performance yet but is expected to see around 30 minutes again tonight. Horford’s salary dipped on both sites and now has some potential upside. Jaylen Brown is $3.1k on DraftKings and min priced ($3.5k) on FanDuel, he should be able to dominate in his limited minutes against the reserves with the Hornets playing on the second night of a back-to-back and Jae Crowder having to deal with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

Editor’s Note: Roy Hibbert has been ruled OUT tonight.
Roy Hibbert was injured four minutes into the game against the Heat last night, but the Hornets were still able to prevail. Kemba Walker continues to be their hero and will lead this team in usage all season. The bench showed up against the Heat with Jeremy Lamb contributing 16 points and 8 rebounds and Spencer Hawes contributing 10 points and 9 rebounds. Hibbert had a high projection across the industry but showed up poorly in CourtIQ. We mentioned Spencer Hawes as a viable replacement, and he should see 24-28 minutes tonight if Hibbert can’t go. Marvin Williams and Nicolas Batum both played over 30 minutes last night and should approach that again against the Celtics.
We have been targeting PFs against the Celtics since last season and this makes for an elite spot for Marvin Williams. With Hibbert likely not playing tonight, Marvin Williams can be used as a small ball 5 against the undersized frontcourt of the Celtics. Cody Zeller should start in place of Hibbert and is a viable tournament option as a punt. Zeller has reached 20 fantasy points in both games so far this season, and he should be able to exceed value on both sites. Batum has been playing great in this young season and fills up the stat sheet. He’ll be a viable option, but there is a slight concern with this being the second night of a back-to-back.

Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzlies have a new coach this season and will try to push the pace a little more than they have in the past. They beat a strong Timberwolves team on Wednesday at home and now travel to New York to play the Knicks in their home opener. Zach Randolph dusted off a vintage performance with JaMychal Green dealing with foul trouble early. Randolph will continue to come off the bench to keep Marc Gasol healthy or in place of Green. Chatter started in preseason that ZBO was going for the Sixth Man of the Year Award, and he should be able to dominate reserve big men all season long. He likely won’t see more than 28 minutes most nights, but with a new and improved three-point shot, Randolph should be able to exceed value as long as his salary stays at or under $6k on both sites.
Andrew Harrison played 38 minutes as the starting shooting guard and should see that many minutes again tonight with Tony Allen already ruled out. He is not a high-upside play, but with his salary at the minimum on both sites, Harrison should be able to at least make value. The Grizzlies don’t really have any depth right now, and Mike Conley should be considered an elite option tonight. He is a safe cash game play with a mid-range salary on both sites and has some potential upside in a matchup with Derrick Rose in the Mecca. James Ennis has carried his strong play over from the preseason but will have to deal with Carmelo Anthony tonight. If Ennis gets into foul trouble against Anthony, which is very possible, we could see a huge dose of Vinsanity. Vince Carter played 28 minutes on Wednesday and is a min-priced punt play on DraftKings.

New York Knicks
The Knicks will make their home debut after losing to the Cavaliers on Tuesday night. Carmelo Anthony was cookin’ against the Kings and will look to put on a show tonight. Vegas projects this to be a low-scoring, close game, which could lead to 34+ minutes of Anthony. His price is slightly better on DraftKings, and he could easily go overlooked with LeBron, PG13, The Claw, and Jimmy Buckets on the slate. Kristaps Porzingis is similarily priced to Anthony but shot pretty poorly against the Cavs on Tuesday. He should also turn it around tonight at home. Most users will see the Grizzlies and look to avoid the Knicks, but Porzingis fills the stat sheet, and having played 33 minutes on Tuesday, we can project to see KP6 for 32+ again tonight.
Derrick Rose is a viable option, but he was already complaining after the loss that he comes down every time and looks for pick-and-roll and not to run the triangle. He has a playable price on both sites, but he’s too risky to consider a legit option with so many good PG options on a full slate. Joakim Noah was noted by Carmelo Anthony as a dog that is ready to get loose out there. His price is playable, but with an inept offensive game, his upside is limited to scrappy plays and rebounding. Courtney Lee, their other addition to the starting five, saw 20 minutes against Cavs but should be in line for a bump tonight at home. He’s a viable deep GPP flier, but don’t expect much. There are better plays cheaper than him in the player pool at guard. Justin Holiday showed up against the Cavs instead of Lee, but he is a risky cheap play ($3k at DK, $3.8k at FD) in what vegas projects to be a close low-scoring affair.

Orlando Magic
The Magic looked bad in preseason, and so far this season, they have proved as much, losing to Miami at home in their opener and then getting dismantled by the Pistons in Detroit last night. It does not get any easier tonight against the champs. Aaron Gordon was having a poor preseason but looks to be turning it on now that regular season has started. He was dealing with ankle soreness, so it looks like he is over that issue now. New head coach Frank Vogel wants to use Gordon like he used Paul George. Not sure Gordon’s ball handling skills are on the level of George, but it’s worth a shot to develop with this team going nowhere. Evan Fournier is the only player who is interesting in this game, but we can do much better. Bismack Biyombo is a viable low-end option if this game gets out of hand early. Don’t expect much there either because he has no offensive game.

Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavs are coming off a hard-fought game last night against the Raptors in Toronto, and now they fly back home to take on the Magic. This looks like a prime let-down spot after LeBron James and Kyrie Irving played 38 minutes last night. The other three starters also saw over 33 minutes and could be slightly gassed. Kevin Love had a strong showing against the Raptors front line but has been really inefficient to start the season. While he has started poorly in his last two games, he’s salvaged both nights and exceeded value. He’s still the cheapest option out of this “Big 3” but does carry some risk. Still, with the Cavaliers currently projected to win by 12, someone has to score. Speaking of scoring, Kyrie Irving is averaging 27.5 ppg in this young season and is also a viable option anytime his salary stays under $8k.
LeBron James has been happy to take the back seat to Love and Irving and will likely continue to do so again tonight. He’s always in play because his ceiling is so high, but in a projected blowout and playing on the second night of a back-to-back after 38 minutes, he’s too risky to pay up for. We should see the bench pick it up here, and we should see Kay Fedler and Jordan McRae tonight. It’ll be tough to project which one is the better play since we don’t have any in-season data, and both players did their damage in the preseason with Irving and James out. Mike Dunleavy and

Indiana Pacers
The Pacers will continue their roadtrip, and after playing in Brooklyn last night, they will play in another high-paced game against the Bulls tonight. Jeff Teague and Monta Ellis were disappointments but could turn it around tonight. The Pacers let the Nets have too many easy cuts to the basket for dunks. Most came in the pick-and-roll, and that could be a problem moving forward; let’s see if that issue continues tonight. Paul George is getting the minutes but has been highly inefficient in his time and gets to deal with Jimmy Butler tonight. With a handful of other SF options on the slate, PG13 looks like a player we should avoid. Myles Turner has been playing well since the end of preseason, but his upside is priced in now. He’s a viable option, but carries considerable risk since his salary is somewhat inflated. Thaddeus Young got his revenge game and will now have to deal with Taj Gibson. His price makes him playable, but he only has upside if he sees the court with Nikola Mirotic.
Vegas has this projected as a high-scoring close game, so there has to be some fantasy-worthy players here.C.J. Miles deserves a look with Rodney Stuckey having gone down with a hamstring injury last night. Aaron Brooks missed last night due to a sore knee and could be a viable cheap option against his former team, if he plays. We might not find out until after lock if he’s playing, but with a minimum salary on both sites, he deserves to be on the radar on a full slate. Al Jefferson also has a playable salary but has not seen the floor much to start the season. That could change here tonight, but he is still too risky for cash games.

Chicago Bulls
The Bulls enter this game pretty healthy and shocked the world when their “Big 3” hit nine triples in their home opener: Wade had four, Butler had four, and Rondo had one. I don’t expect that amazing shooting to continue from distance, but it’s definitely something to note that this team is comfortable shooting threes, even though the chatter all offseason was that they could not. Wade, Rondo, and Butler were the only starters to see over 30 minutes and should see that again tonight. Wade and Rondo have their salaries, sitting under $7k on DraftKings but over $7k on FanDuel, making them better plays on DK. This team is going to shoot a low percentage all season long, making for a ton of offensive rebounding opportunities. They slaughtered the Celtics on the boards for 18 offensive rebounds. Robin Lopez led them with six, and a five other players grabbed an offensive rebound.
RoLo is only $4.8k on DraftKings and deserves consideration there because he could easily get a cheap 10/10 and get that double-double bonus with some blocks. He’s more expensive on FanDuel, and with only one center position available and no utility, Lopez is not an option there. Michael Carter-Williams is also a strong upside option because the Pacers have struggled against guards off the bench since last season. With Stuckey likely out, they’ll have to go deeper into their bench, leaving MCW with more exploitable matchups.
