The Arizona Coyotes won their second game of the year Saturday night as they beat the Carolina Hurricanes in overtime by a score of 2-1. Clayton Keller continues to be almost the only viable option on this team for fantasy purposes as he collected his 10th goal of the season which only padded his points lead over Max Domi for the team lead by a score of 16-10. Keller has Derek Stepan and Brendan Perlini as his line mates while Domi skates with Christian Dvorak and Christian Fischer on the team’s second line. Arizona has been able to rack up 39 goals so far this season so the obvious problem they have is the 62 goals they let get by their goaltender. That really doesn’t matter to us as long as we don’t target whatever sieve that Arizona decides to throw between the pipes. On the back line it may not matter who we choose as Jason Demers and Oliver Ekman-Larsson have registered eight points so far this season while Alex Goligoski and his one goal and six assists trail them by just one point. Outside of the players named above not much is going on where the scoring is concerned. This would make either Keller as a decent one-off selection or pairing Domi and Dvorak could produce some points for your GPP tournaments this evening.

Washington has won three of their last four games s they too are another team that had gotten off to a sluggish start. The Capitals have been running Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Devante Smith-Pelly as the top line while Nicklas Backstrom has been centering Jakub Vrana and T.J. Oshie on the second line. The third line that features Chandler Stephenson and Lars Eller has been the most productive over the last six games as they have combined for four goals and five assists over the last six games which bests Ovechkin and Kuznetsov by one assist over that same time frame. This by no means is an endorsement to use the third line in cash games but against a weak Arizona team they are certainly worth a look as a GPP pairing. Ovechkin and Kuznetsov are the mega-chalk here as they lead the team with 16 points apiece which would make Oshie and Backstrom very good secondary plays in either cash or GPP formats. John Carlson is the play from the blue line as he is the only defenseman with more than four points while quarterbacking the team’s top power play unit. Carlson will look to improve on his nine assists he has tallied so far this season. The Capitals should have a field day tonight against a team that has been struggling mightily all season.
