Strong Matchup
Max Fried has a great matchup against the Giants. This season, the Giants are 29th in wOBA and ISO to left handed pitching. Fried gets to pitch in a good pitcher’s ball park, facing a team with no real dangerous righties. I really think this could be a ceiling game for Fried.
Sneaky Pitching Option In GPPs
Rich Hill is a great low-owned pitching option on today’s slate. Hill goes up against the Rays, who have really struggled to left handed pitching. The Rays have a 30% strikeout rate this season to left handed pitching, while Hill is coming off his best start of the season, where he had ten strikeouts. I really like his price tag on FanDuel at $8,300, but he is still in play for me across all sites in GPPs.
Favorite One Off
Freddie Freeman is one of my favorite plays today. He gets a matchup against Jeff Samardzija, who has some serious splits to left-handed hitters. This season, Samardzija has a .263 ISO, 55% fly ball rate, and a 46% hard hit rate to lefties. I love the matchup today for Freeman and think we will get him at low ownership.
High Upside Value Play
It’s tough to use Renato Nunez on DraftKings at first base, but I really like this FanDuel price. Sabathia has looked a lot different this season, and I think some of these cheap Baltimore bats are in play. He has a .325 wOBA with a .229 ISO and a 43.7% hard-hit rate against righties this season. Nunez has a .240 ISO with a .371 wOBA and a 92.2 average exit velocity against left-handed pitching this season. It’s a small sample but at this price, I’m willing to take a shot on him at this price.
Positive Regression Is Coming
The Yankees draw another great matchup tonight, and Kendrys Morales is a top value option if he’s back in the lineup. Dan Straily has a .400 wOBA with a .295 ISO and a 13.3% strikeout rate against left-handed hitters. He has a 48.1% fly ball rate with a 44.4% hard-hit against lefties this season. Kendrys Morales has a .085 ISO with a .263 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. He does have a 41.7% hard-hit rate with a 91.4 average exit velocity and a .387 CXwOBA. With the massive fly balls Straily allows, this is a nice upside spot for Morales.
Keep Playing The Young Prospect
I really like this spot for Max Fried tonight. He has a 3.16 xFIP with a 22.4% strikeout rate and a 5.4% walk rate. He has a very good hard to soft contact ratio and a high ground ball rate. He’s getting a really good ballpark shift, and this team has really struggled with left-handed pitching. The Giants rank 29th in wOBA against left-handed pitching and they have the lowest wRC+. He’s coming off two good starts in a row, and I like his chances to keep it rolling in this spot.
xFIP Tells A Difference Story
It’s been a rough start to the season for Jon Gray. He has a 4.73 ERA with a .351 wOBA on the season. His 3.65 xFIP suggest he’s been getting a little unlucky and pitching a little better than what’s showing on the surface. He has a 26.8% strikeout rate on the season, and a 12.7% swinging strike rate. This is a massive ballpark bump for Gray, and he has a really good price tag on FanDuel. The Pirates don’t strikeout a lot, but they don’t have a lot of power bats in this lineup, which lowers the risk a little for Gray.
Christian Yelich (back) scratched Tuesday; Ben Gamel replaces
Yelich has been scratched from the Milwaukee Brewers original confirmed lineup and will not start in Tuesday’s matchup against the Cincinnati Reds due to back spasms. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Ben Gamel, who will now play right field and slot into the seventh spot in the order, which bumps Mike Moustakas, Yasmani Grandal, and Eric Thames up to second, fourth and fifth, respectively. However, the remainder of the Brewers lineup will stay intact offensively as they face off against right-hander Sonny Gray at home this evening.

The game between the Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday evening has been postponed due to forecasted severe weather throughout the remainder of the day and evening hours. The teams have already announced that today’s previously scheduled game will be made up on Wednesday, May 22 at 7:45 pm EST as part of a day-night, split-admission doubleheader. Players from this matchup will not accrue fantasy points on Tuesday’s daily fantasy slates across the industry, so be sure to remove them from lineups as soon as possible.

David Hess ranks last in the league among pitchers with at least 40 innings allowing 3.12 HR/9, giving up 14 HRs this season in only 40.1 IP. That could spell trouble tonight against a Yankees lineup that is starting to get its power back. Aaron Hicks has returned from injury and is hitting near the top of the lineup, Luke Voit should be hitting right behind him, and Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres both went deep last night at Camden Yards. All of these hitters are righties, however Hess has shown some reverse spits this season, allowing a .649 slugging percentage to right-handed hitters compared to a .426 slugging mark to lefties.

The Tigers are unlikely to be a popular stack, with team’s offense ranking 27th in wOBA and 2nd in K%, but they may be worth a look if looking for a cheaper, under-the-radar play. Despite the team’s poor overall numbers, they are actually above average against left-handed pitching, ranking 12th in ISO and 10th in wOBA against lefties. I’ll be targeting the right-handed hitters near the top of the lineup such as Niko Goodrum, Nick Castellanos, Miguel Cabrera, and Ronny Rodriguez.

Chris Archer’s season has fallen off a cliff with a 1-3 record and a 5.58 ERA, but his SIERA sits at a more respectable 4.56, and removing his starts right before and right after his stint on the Injured List, he has a much better 2.74 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 23 innings. If he is fully recovered from the thumb inflammation that caused him to miss time, he could be a high-upside bargain at a lower price for GPPs facing a Rockies offense that ranks 28th in the league in road wOBA.
