Lavoy Allen ruled out Monday
Allen will not play Monday due to a sore left knee. In his absence look for Jordan Hill and Myles Turner to potentially take on bigger roles, but neither player is a recommended DFS option against a very tough Spurs defense. Turner has taken a huge step back since Ian Mahinmi returned and hasn’t exceeded double-digit FPs in either of his past two games. Meanwhile, Jordan Hill continues to be a very solid per-minute producer, but he’s not likely to see enough of an uptick on Monday to make him DFS viable.

Jimmy Butler (knee) out on Monday
Jimmy Butler has been ruled out of tonight’s contest with a lingering knee issue. Butler should be evaluated soon but no timetable has been given for his return. E’Twuan Moore will start in his place but his upside is limited with the Bulls healthier than usual.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been putting up huge numbers with Michael Carter-Williams out
Good news for Giannis Antetokounmpo, aka The Alphabet, is that Michael Carter-Williams is out for the rest of the season after undergoing hip surgery. With Carter-Williams off the court, The Alphabet sees a significant boost in minutes as he has essentially been playing the entire game in his last few match ups. Logging 42, 41, and 42 minutes in three of the last four games, he has absolutely been on fire and is arguably the most versatile player in the NBA right now. He has been putting up elite stats including three triple doubles (and was one rebound short of a fourth) in the last seven games. His price has increased quite a bit, but he is still affordable as he is a tier or two down from some of the superstars like LeBron James, Steph Curry, or Chris Paul. His price will likely continue to be on the rise and it would be smart to get him at this price while you can.
Lance Stephenson in line to see a healthy allotment of minutes Monday
As we can see with our Trending Stats page (link at the bottom of the alert), Stephenson has already seen a notable bump in playing time thanks to his trade to Memphis – he’s averaging an increase of 5.88 MPG over the last three weeks (compared to his season average). With Conley and Barnes out (in addition to Randolph and Andersen), Stephenson will act more as a ball-handler and shouldn’t struggle to see 28-30 minutes of court time given how shorthanded the Grizzlies are. He’s now playable in any format tonight.

Tony Allen will return after an eight-game absence tonight and should be expected to start against the Cavs. Allen is not a strong offensive player but he is still a viable punt option with the Grizzlies so depleted. If Memphis can keep it close, Allen could see over 28 minutes tonight. Lance Stephenson should also see an uptick in minutes/usage and will likely play regardless of the score.

Matt Barnes will be resting a sore hamstring tonight and Zach Randolph will miss with a sore knee. The Grizzlies only have eight healthy bodies available for tonight’s game. Tony Allen will likely start for Barnes and Ryan Hollins could start in Randolph’s place. With the Grizzlies playing in the early game tonight, we should expect an update on their starters before lineups lock.

C.J. Miles will miss his ninth consecutive game with a calf injury. Miles should be considered questionable to play in their next game on Saturday. Rodney Stuckey has been confirmed as playing tonight but has not secured over 20 minutes since his own return from injury. Stuckey faces a tough matchup against the Spurs and should be avoided until he secures more minutes.

Mike Conley is dealing with a sore foot and will not be available tonight against the Cavs. Chris Andersen, who has an injured shoulder, has also been ruled out. Both players are technically also out for Wednesday but we can confirm that status on the day of the game. Mario Chalmers will likely start in Conley’s place and makes for an elite punt option on Monday. Chalmers has exceeded 5x on DraftKings in five consecutive games and is in a favorable match-up tonight despite Memphis being heavy underdogs. With Chris Andersen out of the lineup, JaMychal Green should be considered a strong punt option with his salary sub $4k on both major sites.

Kobe Bryant is questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Magic. With Anthony Brown out of the lineup with a stress fracture in his foot, Nick Young will likely start again. Young is not suitable for cash games but could be a viable tournament option if Bryant does indeed sit. Still, Young is a better target for late-slate games as opposed to the full six-game slate.

Neal did not make the trip to Portland with the Wizards and will not play Tuesday. It’s looking unlikely that he returns Friday in Utah and may not make an appearance on this road trip (which spans three games). With Neal out, look for Alan Anderson and Garrett Temple to continue to see most of the run at the SG spot off the bench. Bradley Beal is also out for Tuesday’s game, so it’s possible that Garrett Temple (or Anderson) moves into the starting lineup.

It wouldn’t make much sense for Beal to join the team in Utah if he wasn’t going to play, so it looks at this point like he has an outside shot at returning during this road trip. We likely won’t know more on Beal until later in the week, but we’ll continue to update as news comes in. John Wall will remain an elite play in Beal’s absence and Otto Porter, Garrett Temple and Alan Anderson are all candidates to see an uptick in playing time/usage.

Bradley Beal did not travel with the team for their upcoming three-game road trip. Garrett Temple will start in his Beal’s place and should be a decent tournament option on Tuesday against the Blazers. Temple was producing well earlier in the season when Beal was out of the lineup but has been in a slump lately. With his salary sub $4k on both major sites, Temple could be a viable option if he is able to secure more than 30 minutes.

This news doesn’t have any DFS impact at this point, but if Weems is able to carve out a consistent spot in the rotation he could provide some value later in the season. Christian Wood will try to latch on somewhere else.

Porzingis was limited at today’s practice and is listed as questionable for tomorrow’s game with the Nuggets. He seems to be genuinely questionable after missing Saturday’s game with the Pistons but the fact that his X-rays were negative does seem to suggest he’ll be back sooner rather than later. If he’s unable to go again tomorrow, look for Robin Lopez, Derrick Williams and Kyle O’Quinn to take on bigger roles while Carmelo Anthony could contribute even more than usual offensively.

Olynyk is practicing today and didn’t rule out the possibility of him playing on Wednesday, but he’s still unsure when he’ll be able to return to game action. The fact that he’s back on the practice court is a good sign that a return is imminent, although we may not have word on his status against the Grizzlies until after Wednesday’s shootaround. If he’s able to return, Jared Sullinger (who missed practice today due to an illness) would likely see his minutes trend slightly down as Olynyk gets re-acclimated to the rotation.
