Chiefs sign Knile Davis
It’s been a crazy couple of weeks for the running back; he was traded by the Chiefs to Green Bay, cut by Green Bay two weeks later, signed by the Jets, released by the Jets within 24 hours, and now he’s back with the Chiefs. He probably won’t get too many snaps at running back this weekend, if any at all. Unfortunately for Davis, he could be released as soon as Spencer Ware is cleared from the concussion protocol.
As reported by: Kansas City ChiefsPercy Harvin expected to play Monday
Buffalo is really thin at receiver, so they’re going to work Harvin into the game on Monday. He won’t see many snaps though as he’s been away from football for a year and just signed with the Bills on Tuesday. Harvin isn’t worth rostering this weekend, but it will be fun to see how he fits with the team in the coming weeks.
As reported by: ESPNJordan Cameron headed to IR
Cameron is still dealing with a concussion he suffered in Week 3. Unfortunately, he’s had four concussions in his career, and this one could end his career. Miami will start MarQueis Gray this week in Cameron’s absence until Dion Sims returns. Gray won’t have much fantasy value though.
As reported by: Armando Salguero Other tagged players: MarQueis GrayPaul Perkins' role expected to increase "significantly"
The Giants used their bye week to do some self-evaluation and make changes. While they’re not planning huge overhauls, they’re adding some wrinkles. For example, they’re going to use less power running between the tackles and begin attacking the edge more. This will provide rookie Paul Perkins with extra work. Even though he’s only averaging 3.9 yards per carry, he’s leading the team. That’s how bad the Giants’ rushing game has been. In fact, they have the worst rushing offense in the entire NFL, averaging just 70.3 yards per game. So something has to change, and it seems like they’re choosing to get Perkins more involved. He’ll begin cutting into Rashad Jennings’ workload immediately. If he’s effective with his opportunities, he could potentially become the starter before the end of the season. Neither back will have much fantasy value in Week 9, but it’s a situation to keep an eye on. Perkins could present a great value in the coming weeks.
As reported by: ESPN Other tagged players: Rashad JenningsLeSean McCoy practices Saturday
Things continue to trend in the right direction for McCoy. He’s practiced three days in a row, and Rex Ryan said he’s “confident” McCoy will play. He’s officially listed as questionable, but he should start Monday night against the Seahawks. McCoy is not expected to be limited in the game, and the Bills will supply him with a large volume of touches as they’re very thin at receiver. It’s a tough spot for him though, Seattle ranks 2nd in rush DVOA.
As reported by: ESPNTampa Bay "hopeful" Doug Martin can return for Week 10
Coach Dirk Koetter sounds optimistic that Martin can get back to the field soon, saying that he was hopefule Martin had a shot to play Chicago next week. He added that hamstrings are “delicate,” indicating that the running back definitely isn’t back at 100%. He’ll need things to go right over the next week in order to get back on the game field. If he can’t go, the Bucs will probably rely on Peyton Barber to lead their backfield as Jacquizz Rodgers could miss another week with his sprained foot.
As reported by: Sporting NewsRex Ryan believes LeSean McCoy will play Monday
Ryan told the media he’s “thinking he’s going.” It’s certainly a positive sign, but it’s no guarantee. McCoy has been limited in practice all week and the Bills have (probably) learned from their mistake of rushing him back too soon. However, the situation is trending in the right direction. Fortunately, Ryan also said McCoy wouldn’t be limited if he plays. Buffalo visits Seattle in Week 9, so it will be a tough matchup. If he suits up, McCoy will get a ton of volume, including plenty of red zone work, to make up for the bad spot.
As reported by: ESPNJimmy Graham has limited practice Friday
Graham (knee) is still expected to play this weekend. Russell Wilson’s health is a bigger concern to Graham’s fantasy value. Wilson is currently dealing with a several different injuries. He hasn’t thrown a touchdown since Week 4, and he’s only thrown five total this season. Buffalo has done pretty well defending tight ends so far, limiting them to 4.9 receptions, and 40.6 yards per game. Gronk found success against them last week, posting a 5/109/1 line, but he had Tom Brady throwing to him. On the bright side, Wilson was a full go in practice the past couple of days and the Seahawks are at home. Plus, Graham has led the team in targets three of the past four weeks. He should get plenty of opportunities to produce against Buffalo, and with Gronk and Jordan Reed on byes there aren’t many elite options at tight end this week.
As reported by: Brady HendersonMike Evans is in concussion protocol
Evans is expected to practice on Monday, which is a good sign. He went off against the Falcons on Thursday night, posting a 11/150/2 line. Assuming he can play in Week 10, he’ll get another favorable matchup with the banged up Bears’ secondary.
As reported by: Greg AumanJames Starks officially ruled out for Week 9
There’s a decent chance Starks could hit the field next week. This week, with Starks out, the vast majority of the RB snaps will go to Ty Montgomery. As reported earlier, he is an excellent play on full PPR sites this weekend.
As reported by: Rob DemovskyAntone Smith out for season
Smith suffered a season-ending knee injury Thursday night. Tampa Bay is completely depleted at running back, with Doug Martin, Charles Sims, Jacquizz Rodgers, and now Smith, all sidelined at the moment. If Rodgers and Sims can’t come back for their next game, Peyton Barber will get another start. He had 15 touches for 55 yards against the Falcons. Smith had taken eight touches from him, so Barber’s volume would increase next week.
As reported by: Roy Cummings Other tagged players: Peyton BarberTy Montgomery WILL play Sunday
Montgomery has been cleared to play and removed from Green Bay’s injury report. He’ll start at running back and have major PPR value as the Packers have loved throwing a ton of short passes to him out of the backfield. He’s been spending a lot of time working on his actual rushing ability in recent weeks as well. He’ll get a Colts’ defense that ranks 29th in rush DVOA and 31st against receiving running backs, per Football Outsiders. Montgomery has one of the best matchups he can get this week. He’s still relatively cheap too; on DraftKings he’s just $5.8k, which is too low for him.
As reported by: Rob DemovskyT.Y. Hilton removed from injury report
Earlier in the week he was unsure whether he could play or not. He must be feeling better as he’s no longer listed on the Colts’ injury report. He has an excellent matchup with the banged up Packers’ secondary this week. Although Donte Moncrief will cut into his target share, he’s still an elite option at receiver.
As reported by: Adam SchefterTheo Riddick listed as questionable, Marvin Jones removed from injury report
Jones had full practices on Thursday and Friday. Riddick was limited all week, but is still expected to play against the Vikings. It’s a tough matchup for both players, and neither will be strong options this weekend. Fortunately, Riddick’s price is still relatively low since they’re playing Minnesota, he’s just $4.9k on DraftKings this week. At the price, he can be considered for tournaments. Fortunately for him, Minnesota’s primary weak spot is receiving running backs. According to Football Outsiders, they rank 23rd in DVOA against RBs in the passing game, allowing 7.4 receptions per game to the position, the eighth-most in the NFL.
As reported by: Michael Rothstein Other tagged players: Marvin JonesMichael Thomas (illness) has limited practice Friday
Thomas has some type of stomach bug, but he expects to be alright for Sunday’s game against the 49ers. He’s leading the Saints in receptions (42) and plays over 20 yards (8), and he’s second in receiving yards (500) and touchdowns (3). Thomas has better stats than Brandin Cooks on the road; he has more receptions, yards, and yards per catch, although they’re both tied with one touchdown apiece. Thomas is a very interesting tournament option going up against a 49ers defense that’s allowed 15 passing touchdowns this season, which is the 7th-most in the league.
