Ted Ginn Jr. Inactive Week 2

Ginn is a surprising inactive this week, as it would appear he is a healthy scratch. His absence could open up some opportunities for the lower level WRs on the Bears, such as Cordarrelle Patterson, Darnell Mooney or Javon Wims, although all three should be considered extremely risky options at best.

DeVante Parker, Lynn Bowden Active Sunday

Parker has been dealing with a hamstring injury, but is officially active Sunday for the Dolphins. It is still probably not the best situation for Parker, and an injury like a hamstring always carries risk. Lynn Bowden Jr. is also active, but it is hard to see him have a real role in the passing game this week.

Golden Tate

Tennessee Titans

Golden Tate Active, Wayne Gallman Inactive Sunday

As expected, Golden Tate is active Sunday, and will make his season debut. The Giants are underdogs against the Bears, and an early deficit would force Jones into passing frequently all game. With Tate back, the Giants should have all their top weapons, which could help an offense that scored just 16 points in week 1 while gaining just 291 total yards.

Courtland Sutton

Denver Broncos

Courtland Sutton Active Week 2

Courtland Sutton is active Sunday. He was reported to have a good chance to play today, and his pregame workout clearly went well enough for him to suit up. Sutton gives Drew Lock his top weapon back in the passing game, and will take both targets and defense attention away from the rest of the Broncos’ passing game.

Phillip Lindsay

Indianapolis Colts

Phillip Lindsay (toe) out 2-4 weeks

Lindsay, who had already been ruled out for Week 2, is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with a toe sprain. This will give Melvin Gordon an opportunity to take on a heavier work load, with Royce Freeman working in the backup role.

Julian Edelman, N'Keal Harry expected to play; Courtland Sutton has "good chance", will workout pregame

Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry are both expected to play Sunday night, neither of which is a particular surprise. Courtland Sutton has a “good chance”, but will need to workout pregame before being cleared. Sutton missed Week 1 and was considered 50/50 to play as of a few days ago, so he is clearly progressing. He also worked out pregame last week before being scratched, so he will definitely need to be monitored. Fortunately, the Broncos are in the morning wave of games, giving you time to make any needed adjustments. Drew Lock would benefit from the return of his top weapon, while Jerry Jeudy would see fewer targets but also less focus from the opposing defense.

Schefter Late Night Tweets: Duke Johnson, Michael Pittman Jr. not expected to play; Brandin Cooks, Golden Tate, Zach Pascal, Gerald Everett all expected to play

Per Adam Schefter, the Texans won’t have Duke Johnson on Sunday, clearing the way for David Johnson to continue leading Houston’s backfield. They will have Brandin Cooks in action, although he’s still a shaky play given the matchup. The Colts won’t have Michael Pittman Jr. on Sunday but will have Zach Pascal active. With Jack Doyle also out, Parris Campbell could benefit from added looks over the middle with Mo Alie-Cox set to see an uptick in snaps at the TE spot. T.Y. Hilton has plenty of bounce-back appeal against a Vikings secondary that was just shredded by the Packers. As for the Giants, they are expected to get Golden Tate back, which is a plus for their depth but sieves some value from Sterling Shepard. Tate shouldn’t be expected to log a heavy snap count in his debut. Schefter has also noted that Gerald Everett is expected to play while the Chargers won’t have Justin Jackson, potentially affording Josh Kelly some extra work.

Equanimeous St. Brown Placed on IR

Equanimeous St. Brown has been placed on IR, meaning he will miss at least three games before he can return. He was inactive last week, so the Packers’ offense should look similar to Week 1.

Michael Thomas

New Orleans Saints
9/19/20, 4:26 PM ET

Michael Thomas (Ankle) Out Monday

The Saints have ruled Michael Thomas out for Monday night with an ankle injury. There had been reports he may miss multiple weeks, so this is not particularly surprising. It does make it easier for fantasy players to plan, and Thomas’ absence opens up significant targets. Emmanuel Sanders and Tre’Quan Smith should see an increase in targets, while the rest of the offensive pieces could also see small bumps.

Henry Ruggs (Knee) Questionable for Monday Night

Ruggs is officially listed as questionable for Monday night, and was able to be a limited participant in practice Saturday. This was a big step forward for his availability after not practicing Thursday or Friday. He will still need to be monitored Monday, but this news significantly increases his chances of playing.

Josh Adams

New Orleans Saints
9/19/20, 3:54 PM ET

Josh Adams Promoted to Active Roster

The Jets have promoted RB Josh Adams to their active roster for Sunday. He should see a small role in the offense while also taking some snaps on special teams. The low number of expected touches limits his upside, although he did manage to rush for a TD on one of his two attempts Week 1, while also catching both his targets.

Chris Godwin

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
9/19/20, 3:18 PM ET

Chris Godwin Ruled Out for Sunday

Chris Godwin has been officially ruled out for Sunday. Mike Evans should be in line for a massive target share, while Scotty Miller could see the biggest boost in target share from Godwin’s absence. Justin Watson is also in a better situation now as the third WR option for the Bucs. The matchup with the Panthers is a good one for the Bucs, and the Godwin injury has opened up some good value options.

George Kittle

San Francisco 49ers
9/18/20, 5:08 PM ET

George Kittle (knee) won't play Sunday

Kittle wasn’t able to participate in practice all week, and he’s officially been ruled out of Sunday’s Week 2 matchup against the New York Jets due to a knee injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan even admitted to reporters on a Zoom conference that Kittle was always considered unlikely to play, but the team didn’t want to rule him out too early since they view Kittle as an “abnormal” human being. With Kittle set to be inactive, his absence should open up additional route running opportunities for Jordan Reed, who was referred to as the starting tight end by Shanahan in his aforementioned presser, which makes Reed a potential tournament punt option in daily fantasy formats this weekend, even if he ends up splitting time with third-string tight end Ross Dwelley on passing downs.

Brandin Cooks

Buffalo Bills
9/18/20, 4:15 PM ET

Brandin Cooks (quad) and Duke Johnson (ankle) officially listed as questionable for Sunday

Cooks and Johnson were limited participants in practice all week but still appear to be on track to suit up for Sunday’s Week 2 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens despite officially being listed as questionable on the Texans’ injury report due to their respectful ailments. Cooks only managed to accumulate a 2-20-0 stat line on five targets in last Thursday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, so he’ll likely need to get full clearance before he can seriously be considered in daily fantasy formats since he was only on the field for 57.1% of snaps in Week 1’s contest. Even if Cooks plays limited snaps again, his presence in the wide receiver corps essentially renders himself and Kenny Stills useless in fantasy since they’d essentially be splitting a full-time starting role.

Kenny Golladay

New York Giants
9/18/20, 4:56 PM ET

Kenny Golladay (hamstring) officially ruled out for Sunday

Golladay has been a non-participant in practice all week and has officially been ruled out of Sunday’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints due to a hamstring injury that’s now kept him sidelined for two games. With Golladay on track to be inactive once again, Marvin Jones Jr. becomes a stellar daily fantasy option at an increased target volume despite a lackluster Week 1 fantasy performance, while Danny Amendola and T.J. Hockensen will also likely see a few more passes headed their way. Surprisingly, Quintez Cephus played 81.7% of snaps and recorded a whopping 24.4% of the target market share from quarterback Matthew Stafford in last Sunday’s win over the Chicago Bears, and while those numbers are unlikely to be sustainable with all the other weapons in the Lions’ offense, it still makes him an intriguing tournament flier for daily fantasy formats this weekend.
