Nathan Peterman

Denver Broncos
10/30/18, 5:10 PM ET

Nathan Peterman expected to start in Week 9

Nathan Peterman is expected to start Week 9 for the Bills after Derek Anderson sustained a concussion in their week 8 loss to New England. Peterman has been picked apart by opposing DSTs, and this week finds himself facing the Chicago Bears. No one from the Bills offense is viable in this matchup with Peterman under center, and the Bears DST will be a popular play for week 9.

C.J. Beathard

Detroit Lions
10/30/18, 3:47 PM ET

CJ Beathard (wrist) won't practice Tuesday

CJ Beathard won’t practice Tuesday due to an injury to his throwing wrist. This is the second consecutive DNP for Beathard, who appears truly questionable to be able to take the field on a short week vs the Raiders Thursday night. Nick Mullens is the second-string QB per the 49ers depth chart, though they did just pick up veteran Tom Savage as well. If Beathard is unable to suit up, it would be considered a downgrade for the 49ers passing attack as a whole. Keep an eye on his practice status tomorrow to get a clearer picture of if he will be able to suit up Thursday.

Terrelle Pryor

Jacksonville Jaguars
10/30/18, 3:15 PM ET

Terrelle Pryor expected to sign with the Bills

Terrelle Pryor is reportedly expected to sign with the Bills after being let go by the Jets. The situation is hardly encouraging for Pryor outside of collecting a paycheck, however, as the Bills have arguably the worst offense in the league. Should Pryor get decent usage in the offense, it would mean a decrease in looks for the likes of Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones.

Brandon Marshall

New Orleans Saints
10/30/18, 3:08 PM ET

Seahawks released WR Brandon Marshall

The writing was on the wall after the veteran wideout played only 2 snaps in Week 8 coming out of the Seahawks bye week. They’ll move forward with Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett, and David Moore in 3-WR sets. Moore’s stock has actually been on the rise in the past few weeks which included a 97 yard, 1 touchdown performance this past Sunday. He remains below $4K on DraftKings.

Eagles acquire WR Golden Tate from Lions for third-round pick

The 30-year old possession receiver should make an instant impact with an Eagles offense that’s had disappointing production overall from their wide receiver group so far this season. Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay are the biggest winners from a fantasy perspective as Tate’s departure now leaves nearly a 30 percent target share void in the Lions pass-happy offense. With the Detroit tight ends being largely ignored and Theo Riddick still on the shelf, both wideouts should see an immediate increase in targets and come in at $5,500 or less on DraftKings and $6,500 or less on FanDuel this week, making them very solid values.

Demaryius Thomas

New York Jets
10/30/18, 1:44 PM ET

Broncos officially trade WR Demaryius Thomas to Texans for fourth-round pick

The teams also swapped 7th-round picks, completing perhaps the biggest deal of today’s trade deadline. The move makes sense for the division-leading Texans who just lost WR Will Fuller for the season and are still awaiting the return of Keke Coutee from a lingering hamstring injury. The biggest fantasy impact here is the instant increase in value rookie Courtland Sutton should now see for the rest of the season. He’s only $3,900 on DraftKings and is bound to be the most popular target at wide receiver on Sunday’s main slate. Though not as drastic, Thomas should also see a boost in production as he moves to an improved quarterback situation with Deshaun Watson, who has proven to be liberal throwing the ball downfield. With Case Keenum at QB, Thomas was only averaging a meager 7.2 yards per attempt. The Broncos and Texans face off with each other in Week 9.

Texans nearing deal for WR Demaryius Thomas

The Texans are expected to finalize a deal by the end of today for the veteran wideout in exchange for a mid-round draft pick. This move would make sense for the division-leading Texans who just lost WR Will Fuller for the season and are still awaiting the return of Keke Coutee from a lingering hamstring injury. The biggest fantasy impact here would be the instant increase in value rookie Courtland Sutton would see for the rest of season. He is only $3,900 on DraftKings this week.

Greg Olsen

Carolina Panthers
10/30/18, 11:47 AM ET

Healthy and Thriving

Greg Olsen appears to have two healthy feet for the first time in a while, and he is coming off a strong 4/56/1 performance against the Ravens where he played on 97% of the offensive snaps. He should be able to continue the positive trends in a great matchup against Tampa Bay, and he’s a logical pairing with Newton if you want to go a QB/pass catcher stack in a GPP. Olsen is a top three option overall at the position in Week 9.

Tre'Quan Smith

Detroit Lions
10/30/18, 11:44 AM ET

Hello, Value!

The Saints/Rams game is our most obvious game stacking spot of the season so far, as we have basically a pick’em spread and a 60 point Vegas total. Both teams have explosive offenses and some leaks on the defensive side of the ball, and this game should absolutely turn into a shootout. The key will be finding the right value pieces, as we obviously have the expensive pieces like Brees, Goff, Gurley, and Thomas. The value lies in guys like Tre’Quan Smith, who is quietly becoming the reliable #2 wide receiver the Saints need. He’s been playing on more and more snaps over the last few weeks, and the price tag is surprisingly affordable on all sites. Give him a long look as a value this week.

Kareem Hunt

Kansas City Chiefs
10/30/18, 11:36 AM ET

The Best GPP Pivot Of The Week

A ton of attention is obviously revolving around Patrick Mahomes, who has played like an MVP over the first half of the season. However, this is the week that I will be pivoting away in GPP formats. The Browns are allowing 139 yards per game on the ground and have allowed a league-worst 12 rushing touchdowns on the year. Their advanced metrics are much better against the pass than the run, and this could be a spot where we see Hunt carry the offensive load. He has been solid of late and has been much more involved in the passing game, and he is my favorite RB play on the slate.

Case Keenum

Chicago Bears
10/30/18, 11:32 AM ET

Still a Value QB Target

It’s not like Case Keenum is a slate-breaker, but he continues to be a viable salary saving option at the QB position. He managed 262 yards and a pair of scores last week against the Chiefs, and passing game services will likely be needed again this week against a Houston team that has been solid against the run this season. This is a sneaky spot for the Denver passing attack, as the Texans haven’t played great passing offenses of late (MIA, JAX, BUF, and DAL have been their last four games). Stack up Keenum and Sutton in a GPP and roll with the solid salary savings.

Cam Newton

Carolina Panthers
10/30/18, 11:29 AM ET

His Week To Show Off Massive Upside

This is a fantastic matchup for Newton, who draws the league’s softest pass defense in Tampa Bay in this week’s slate. His rushing potential always gives him a nice combination of floor and ceiling, and he is coming off a fine game against a much tougher Baltimore defense a week ago. The Panthers quietly have a team total that rivals that of the Saints and Rams on this slate, and Newton carries amazing upside in this game. Tampa Bay continues to be woefully horrendous on defense. They have given up at least 21 points in every game, and they don’t rank above 20th in the league in DVOA against #1 WR’s, #2 WR’s, #3 WR’s, or tight ends. It’s no wonder that Carolina has been pegged with a 30 point implied team total this week.

Rob Gronkowski

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
10/29/18, 6:56 PM ET

Rob Gronkowski (back) active Monday night

Rob Gronkowski is active Monday night despite his back injury. Though the injury prevented him from traveling with the team to Chicago for week 7, Gronk appears healthy enough to give it a go on Monday night football against the Bills. Look for Gronkowski to see his normal workload, although if the game gets out of hand don’t be surprised if New England limits his reps somewhat should they jump out to a big lead.

Josh Gordon

Tennessee Titans
10/29/18, 6:53 PM ET

Josh Gordon (hamstring) active Monday night

Josh Gordon is active Monday night despite his hamstring injury, but is expected to see less than a full workload as a result of team discipline due to his tardiness. Gordon is expected to sit out for the first quarter as a disciplinary measure, and then see his normal workload from there. Look for Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski and Chris Hogan to possibly see a few extra looks when Gordon is on the bench.

LeSean McCoy

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
10/29/18, 6:57 PM ET

LeSean McCoy (concussion) active Monday night

LeSean McCoy has cleared concussion protocol and is active Monday night against the Patriots. That said, he is about the only viable piece of the Bills offense with QB Josh Allen inactive, so McCoy will have his work cut out for him in a matchup where New England will certainly focus their attention on containing him out of the backfield.
