Terrelle Pryor

Jacksonville Jaguars
12/19/16, 5:12 PM ET

Terrelle Pryor's Week 16 status depends on pain tolerance

Pryor suffered a torn ligament in his finger against the Bills on Sunday, which will probably require surgery in the offseason. He plans on playing through the injury and coach Hue Jackson said it would be a matter of pain tolerance. We’re guessing he’ll play on Christmas Eve against the Chargers. Last week, Pryor caught 4-of-8 targets for 19 yards as Robert Griffin continued to struggle. He won’t be a great fantasy play with Griffin under center.

Quinton Patton

New York Jets
12/19/16, 5:06 PM ET

Quinton Patton placed on IR

Patton was forced out of Sunday’s game with the Falcons after injuring his foot. It appears to be a serious enough injury to keep him out the rest of the season. Jeremy Kerley should pick up a lot of targets on Saturday, especially if Torrey Smith (concussion) doesn’t return. He’s a potential tournament play but not a great one; it’s hard to trust him anyone in the 49ers offense. They have an implied total of 18.5 points against the Rams in Week 16.

Tom Savage

Detroit Lions
12/19/16, 5:00 PM ET

Tom Savage will start for Texans in Week 16

Savage replaced Osweiler in the second quarter of their Week 15 game with the Jaguars after Osweiler threw interceptions on consecutive drives. Head coach Bill O’Brien thinks Savage gives Houston the best chance to win so he’ll stick with him under center against the Bengals on Saturday. He played well after he replaced Osweiler, posting a 79.2 QBR, according to ESPN, and guided the Texans to a comeback victory. The third-year quarterback hasn’t yet thrown a touchdown in his career, but he should provide an upgrade to DeAndre Hopkins, who’s been a fantasy bust this season with Osweiler throwing to him. Hopkins finished Week 15 with eight receptions for 87 yards on 17 targets. It would appear he’s already Savage’s favorite weapon and will be an interesting tournament option on Christmas Eve.

Eddie Royal

Chicago Bears
12/19/16, 4:36 PM ET

Eddie Royal placed on IR

Royal missed the last three games due to a toe injury and now his season is officially over. Chicago will finish the season with Alshon Jeffery, Cameron Meredith, Deonte Thompson, and Josh Bellamy at wide receiver. Both Meredith and Thompson exceeded 100 yards in Week 15. Jeffery posted a 6/89/1 line on nine targets. While Barkley is certainly turnover-prone, he’s thrown for over 300 yards in two of his four starts this season. Next week they have a favorable matchup with Washington and their 22nd ranked pass defense.

Darren Sproles

Philadelphia Eagles
12/19/16, 3:20 PM ET

Darren Sproles likely to return on Thursday for Eagles

Sproles has missed some time with a concussion but Eagles Head Coach Doug Pederson said he should be good to go for their Thursday night game. He’ll resume his third down/passing down role and split time with Ryan Mathews.

Alfred Morris

New York Giants
12/18/16, 8:28 PM ET

Alfred Morris inactive for Sunday night

McFadden (elbow) will make his 2016 debut tonight and take over Morris’ role as the number two running back. He could potentially take some passing downs from Ezekiel Elliot, but his role shouldn’t be too big. Tampa Bay’s defense has been hot recently. Over the past four weeks, they’ve allowed the third-fewest FanDuel points per game to running backs.

Jacquizz Rodgers

New Orleans Saints
12/18/16, 8:16 PM ET

Jacquizz Rodgers inactive for Sunday night

Rodgers is a healthy scratch. Tampa Bay will roll with Doug Martin and Charles Sims in the backfield. Last week, Martin out-touched Sims 25 to 7. He should be the feature back again tonight against the Cowboys, but it’ll be a tough spot; Dallas ranks 4th in rush DVOA. The Buccaneers are 6.5-point favorites, so the expected game script isn’t on Martin’s side either as he’ll lose some passing down work to Sims. The Cowboys rank 24th against the pass; expect plenty of targets for Mike Evans.

Mark Ingram

New Orleans Saints
12/18/16, 4:17 PM ET

Mark Ingram and Michael Thomas active for Saints, as expected

Ingram (toe) is not in a great spot; he’s in a timeshare and Arizona ranks 7th in rush DVOA. Thomas (foot) may be shadowed by Patrick Peterson, which hurts his fantasy outlook. Still, he’s established himself as Drew Brees’ favorite receiver and should see a nice volume of targets today. The question is how effective he can be with his opportunities. Given his opponent, he’ll definitely come with some risk.

Jermaine Gresham

Arizona Cardinals
12/18/16, 4:09 PM ET

Jermaine Gresham and John Brown active for Cardinals

Brown (illness) will likely be limited to 20-25 snaps again this afternoon, which keeps him off of the fantasy radar. Gresham (knee) has been more involved with the offense recently, averaging 7.7 targets over the past three games. He’s had exactly five receptions in each game during that stretch and caught a touchdown. With Brown limited and Michael Floyd no longer with the team, Gresham is an interesting option at tight end. New Orleans ranks 25th in TE DVOA.

Chris Ivory

Buffalo Bills
12/18/16, 1:03 PM ET

Chris Ivory is active Sunday

He’ll split the backfield work with T.J. Yeldon against the Texans today. Jacksonville has a low implied total of 18 points; they aren’t expected to move the ball well this afternoon. Ivory won’t get enough touches to be a solid fantasy option and neither will Yeldon. It’s another backfield to avoid Sunday.

As reported by: Michael Fabiano Other tagged players: T.J. Yeldon

Shane Vereen

New Orleans Saints
12/18/16, 12:58 PM ET

Shane Vereen officially active Sunday

Vereen will steal some passing down work from Rashad Jennings and Paul Perkins, making the Giants’ backfield one to avoid. They already have one of the worst rushing games in the league, averaging 78.7 yards per game, the 3rd-fewest in the NFL. Detroit plays at the 3rd lowest pace in the league and their defense has been playing well in recent weeks. The Giants RB committee is an easy fade this week.

Theo Riddick

Las Vegas Raiders
12/18/16, 12:52 PM ET

Theo Riddick officially INACTIVE Sunday

Riddick (wrist) missed last week as well. Dwayne Washington had 17 touches for 74 yards in that game and is set to lead Detroit’s backfield again today. Zach Zenner (concussion) is active and take some touches (9 last week). New York ranks 5th in rush DVOA and they’ve allowed the 3rd-fewest yards per attempt this season (3.6), while Detroit’s offense has gained the 7th-fewest yards per attempt (3.8). It’s not a great spot for Washington, but he should get a solid volume of touches and some red zone opportunities, which puts him in play for tournaments.

DeAngelo Williams

Pittsburgh Steelers
12/18/16, 12:43 PM ET

DeAngelo Williams is INACTIVE Sunday

Williams (knee) was expected to play. His absence won’t make much of a difference as he wasn’t going to cut into Le’Veon Bell’s workload. Bell projects as our RB1 this week and he’s our top points-per-dollar play on FanDuel.

It's Cold Outside - The Week 15 Weather Report

It’s going to be below freezing in Denver and Cincinnati and under 10 degrees in Kansas City and Chicago today. Since 2008, there have only been five regular season games played when the temperature was 10 degrees or lower. In those games, teams passed for an average of 252.5 yards, 2.2 touchdowns, 1.1 interceptions, and a 93.63 passer rating. Offenses have also rushed for 127.8 yards and 0.9 touchdowns per game, and seven of ten teams have exceeded 100 yards on the ground. We aren’t expecting a dip in fantasy production due to cold weather alone. In Baltimore, it’ll be warmer, around 53 degrees, but they’ll be dealing with rain and winds gusting up to 30 mph. It’s enough to bump down the kicking game for sure but make players like Mike Wallace interesting contrarian tournament options. In Wallace’s case, he’s averaged 7.25 targets over the past four games and faces a struggling secondary. He’ll see a lot of Nolan Carroll, who has a poor 46.4 PFF grade this season. Due to weather concerns, his ownership should be quite low. For a complete forecast, visit our NFL weather page.

RotoGrinders NFL Player Props are posted

RotoGrinders Player Props for the 1:00PM ET games are posted as well as most of the 4:00PM ET games. Props are useful way to identify value plays as well as make last minute decisions. At RB this week, the props agree that Le’Veon Bell, David Johnson and LeSean McCoy are the top options. Bell checks in with the highest yardage prop at 107.5. If you are trying to fit two or more of the top options you’ll need to identify some value elsewhere.

Jordan Matthews and Taylor Grabriel are two such value options at WR. Matthews has a reception prop of five and a yardage prop of 62.5. Gabriel has a yardage prop of 67.5 with a reception prop of four.

Last but not least, Carson Palmer has not been an exciting option this season but has an intriguing matchup today. Vegas has Palmer’s yardage prop set at 299.5 against the Saints. He’s worth a look along with several other cheap QB options.
