Chicago places Jay Cutler on IR
Matt Barkley will continue to lead the Bears in Cutler’s absence. They play the Lions in Week 14 and have an implied team total of 17.75 points; they aren’t expected to do much. With limited receiving options, it would make sense for the Bears to feed Jordan Howard, who had a monster three-touchdown game in Week 13. The Lions aren’t as bad as the 49ers against the rush, but they rank 28th in rush DVOA.
As reported by: Field YatesDenard Robinson dealing with high ankle sprain
Robinson had 18 touches and 64 yards before exiting the Jaguars’ game with the Broncos on Sunday. Jacksonville’s backfield is very banged up. T.J. Yeldon (ankle) was expected to be limited in Week 13, but ended with 17 touches because Robinson got hurt. Chris Ivory (hamstring) missed the game and his status for Week 14 is up in the air. It’s definitely a backfield to avoid.
As reported by: Mark LongJohn Brown (sickle cell) will remain limited to 20 snaps per game going forward
Unfortunately, Brown is still dealing with symptoms stemming from his sickle cell trait. He only played 20 snaps on Sunday and that will remain his limit until he’s healthy. Given that were headed into Week 14, that likely means 20 snaps for the rest of the season. He won’t be playable in fantasy. Larry Fitzgerald will remain the only reliable receiver in Arizona’s offense.
As reported by: Mike JureckiRobert Griffin may start Sunday
ESPN’s Pat McManamon said, “all signs point to” him starting, although coach Hue Jackson said it was “too soon” to decide. Griffin is fully cleared to return after breaking a bone in his non-throwing shoulder in Week 1. If he plays, he’ll be stuck behind the worst offensive line in football; they’ve allowed a league-high 45 sacks and several quarterback injuries this season. Griffin won’t be a great fantasy option in his first game back.
As reported by: ESPNDenver places Kapri Bibbs on IR
He was given a 2-4 week timeline to heal and the Broncos needed the roster spot for Justin Forsett. It’s unfortunate as Bibbs had a shot to earn the starting job over a struggling Devontae Booker. With Bibbs done, it’ll be Booker and Forsett going forward and neither have been particularly effective this season. It’s a situation to monitor this week as Forsett should acclimate quickly as he played in Kubiak’s offense back in 2014.
As reported by: Mike Klis Other tagged players: Justin Forsett, Devontae BookerCharles Sims activated from IR, has chance to play in Week 14
Sims (knee) will be available to play Sunday, according to coach Dirk Koetter. With Doug Martin (back) getting banged up this past game, he may get some touches. He won’t be a recommended fantasy option in Week 14 though, unless we hear more positive news, but he could potentially have some PPR value down the stretch depending on how Martin’s injury shakes out.
As reported by: Rick Stroud Other tagged players: Doug MartinAdam Humphries in concussion protocol; Cecil Shorts (knee) out for season
Shorts suffered an awful knee injury on Sunday that may end his career and Humphries was also forced from the game after suffering a concussion. Humphries status for Week 14 is uncertain at this point. With Shorts out and Humphries questionable, look for Mike Evans and Cameron Brate to soak up targets on Sunday. It’s a very favorable matchup against the weak New Orleans’ pass defense.
As reported by: Scott Smith Other tagged players: Cecil Shorts, Mike Evans, Cameron BratePercy Harvin placed on reserve/non-football illness list, ending his season
Harvin has been dealing with chronic migraines, which has kept him sidelined for a couple of weeks. His health concerns are bad enough to end his season, and possibly his career. He made a brief return from retirement with Buffalo that ended with two receptions for six yards. Buffalo will go forward with Sammy Watkins, Marquise Goodwin, and Robert Woods at receiver. Woods has missed the last two games with a knee sprain and could potentially miss Week 14 as well.
As reported by: Buffalo BillsJulio Jones has turf toe injury, expected to play Week 14
The injury had Jones shuffling in and out of Atlanta’s game on Sunday against the Chiefs. He still managed a 7/113/0 line, but four of those catches came on the opening drive. Coach Dan Quinn said Jones’ injury wasn’t serious, but it’s a situation worth monitoring this week.
As reported by: ESPNDenver claims Justin Forsett off waivers
Signing Forsett makes sense as the Broncos are thin at running back now that Kapri Bibbs is expected to miss some time with an ankle sprain. Forsett played for coach Gary Kubiak in 2014 when Kubiak was the Ravens’ offensive coordinator. He rushed for 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns that year. Forsett won’t be a viable fantasy option this week, but he should be able to pick up the offense quickly and if Devontae Booker continues to struggle, he could carve out a decent touch-share should Bibbs remain sidelined.
As reported by: Mike Klis Other tagged players: Devontae BookerBroncos LB Brandon Marshall not expected to play Sunday
Marshall tweaked his hamstring on Sunday and it seems like he’ll miss Denver’s Week 14 game with the Titans. The Broncos were already weakest defending the run, ranking 24th in rush DVOA, and Marshall’s absence will set up an easier matchup for DeMarco Murray. Murray has been dealing with a toe injury but he took advantage of the Titans’ bye week to rehab. It’s reportedly doing much better. The bigger concern is Derrick Henry, who picked up eight touches, 60 yards, and a touchdown in their last game. He should take away some snaps again this week, but Murray will still be the lead back and has a high floor as he’s always involved in both phases of the offense.
As reported by: Mike Klis Other tagged players: Derrick HenryTrevor Siemian out of walking boot, considered day-to-day
In Siemian’s absence against the Jaguars, Denver got the win. Paxton Lynch struggled though, completing 50% of his passes for 104 yards and zero touchdowns. According to ESPN, he had a QBR of 19.4. Denver is hopeful Siemian will return this week and coach Gary Kubiak said he was “doing a lot better.” We’ll get more information as the week progresses.
As reported by: Nicki Jhabvala Other tagged players: Paxton LynchKapri Bibbs dealing with ankle sprain, wearing walking boot Monday
Bibbs left the Broncos’ game with the Jaguars yesterday after injuring his ankle. He had rushed for 49 yards on five carries before he was forced out. He should be considered doubtful for Week 14 as he’s reportedly dealing with a high ankle sprain, which typically takes multiple weeks to heal. Devontae Booker will be the feature back for Denver, but he struggled against the Jaguars, only rushing for 35 yards on 18 carries (1.9 ypc). They face Tennessee in Week 14, who rank 14th against the rush. Booker will get the volume, but will have trouble being effective with his opportunities; he’s averaging 3.5 ypc on the season, and he’s running behind a poor offensive line.
As reported by: Nicki Jhabvala Other tagged players: Devontae BookerChiefs "optimistic" Jeremy Maclin will play Thursday
Maclin (groin) has missed the past four games. He was able to practice last week though and it looks like he’ll be ready to go for the Chief’s Thursday night game with the Oakland Raiders. Maclin wasn’t having a great season before his injury, failing to exceed 78 yards and only scoring twice, despite being the Chiefs’ number one receiver. It’s a decent matchup with Oakland, who rank 22nd in pass DVOA, but it’ll be hard to trust him as a great fantasy option. His return will take some targets from Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce, who has put together three 100-yard games in a row. Kelce led the team in targets over those three weeks and has a good shot to do so again this week even with Maclin in the lineup. He’s a solid tight end option in Week 14.
As reported by: Adam Schefter Other tagged players: Tyreek Hill, Travis KelceJosh Bellamy emerges as viable receiving threat with Marquess Wilson injury
Marquess Wilson was a DFS darling heading into Week 13 but suffered an injury early and ended up seeing only 4 snaps. This led to Josh Bellamy seeing 39 snaps (third on the team at WR behind Deonte Thompson’s 45 and Cameron Meredith’s 49) but was the most targeted player on the Bears with six of Matt Barkley’s 18 attempts heading his way. He converted four of those for 93 yards and is a player to keep an eye on if Wilson is going to miss any time due to the injury he incurred.
