Sammy Watkins appears to be fully back
There was some concern about Watkins heading into this week after being limited in week 12 but Watkins was 2nd of all WR’s on the Bills in snaps yesterday with 49 (of 72 offensive plays) and while he only put up 3 receptions for 38 yards he was targeted nine times. He’s going to be a viable option moving forward, especially in positive match ups.

Josh Hill suffers broken fibula
Hill had been taking over as the dominant TE in terms of number of snaps seen with the Saints offense but broke his fibula yesterday and will likely miss the remainder of the season. Coby Fleener will obviously see an increased role with Hill out.

Seattle’s elite defense is healthy again, they’ll get Michael Bennett back for his first game since Week 7. It’s bad news for a Carolina offense that’s banged up on the line. The Panthers will also be without safety Kurt Coleman, linebacker Luke Keuchly, and defensive end Mario Addison (leads team with 6.5 sacks). Seattle will enter the Sunday night game as 8-point favorites. Although Carolina ranks 5th in rush DVOA, given their injuries, expected game flow, and Thomas Rawls’ expected workload, it’s a good spot for Rawls. Carolina has an implied team total of just 17.75 points, which is a bad sign for Cam Newton and their skill players.

John Brown active, Tyrann Mathieu inactive for Cardinals Sunday
Brown (illness) could end up being severely limited today. He’ll be the fourth receiver on the Cardinals today and isn’t a viable fantasy option. Larry Fitzgerald has been the only consistent receiver on the team and he should avoid Josh Norman in the slot today. He’s a viable option in all formats. Mathieu’s absence is a boost to Jamison Crowder. Kirk Cousins has been excellent and should pepper Crowder and Pierre Garcon with targets all afternoon with DeSean Jackson stuck under Patrick Peterson’s shadow and Jordan Reed out.

Williams will play through his shoulder injury. He faces a Tampa Bay defense that ranks 10th in pass DVOA, They’re coming off a great game against the Seahawks last week, when they held Russell Wilson to 151 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. Williams has averaged 12.5 targets over the past two games and is clearly the Chargers’ number one receiver. Given his injury and matchup, he’s better suited for tournaments this week, as he may be limited.

Clay stayed back in Buffalo for the birth of his child. Nick O’Leary will be the primary tight end, but he’s not a viable play. Robert Woods and Percy Harvin are also inactive, leaving Buffalo without many receiving options. While this should provide a slight boost in volume for Marquise Goodwin and Sammy Watkins, both players are banged up. Watkins is expected to be limited, although the absence of Clay, Woods, and Harvin may force him to play extra snaps. LeSean McCoy stands to benefit the most. Oakland’s defense ranks 27th against the rush in DVOA, while Buffalo’s offense ranks 2nd in rushing DVOA and has the most yards per carry in the NFL (5.3). Oakland is only favored by three points, so the game should stay competitive. It would make sense for the Bills, who are severely thin at receiver and tight end, to feed LeSean McCoy as much as he can handle. Mike Gillislee is active and will spell McCoy during the game, but McCoy’s workload will remain high. He’s a nice pivot off chalkier options Le’Veon Bell and David Johnson in the 4pm tournaments.

Confirming what we expected, Lynch will get his second start today. Jacksonvilles pass defense has been tough all season, allowing the third-fewest yards per game (204). The last time Lynch played, he was sacked six times behind Denver’s 29th-ranked offensive line. He will likely be under pressure quite a bit and will have his work cut out for him. The Jaguars rank 23rd against the rush; it would make sense for Denver to feed Devontae Booker all day. He’s the safest option on the Bronco’s offense.

Yeldon should be the lead back, but will split time with Denard Robinson. Denver’s defense ranks 24th in rush DVOA. Still, it’ll be hard to trust Yeldon, who’s been ineffective all season, to take advantage of the matchup. Jacksonville has an implied team total of 17.5 points, the second lowest on the board. Their Blake Bortles led offense will most likely be overmatched today.

This is actually bad news for Julio Jones as Philip Gaines has been bad all season, most recently getting destroyed by Emmanuel Sanders last Sunday night. Jones still has a plus matchup as offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan will keep him away from Marcus Peters, who stays on the left side of the field. Jones projects as our WR3 on both FanDuel and DraftKings.

Royal (toe) wasn’t expected to play after missing practice all week. He was a non-factor last week, only getting one target. Marquess Wilson led the Bears with 11, following by Deonte Thompson and Cameron Meredith with nine each. Those three will be the primary receiving options again today, but running back Jordan Howard is probably the best fantasy play on Chicago. They face the 49ers today, who have the league’s worst rush defense. San Francisco has allowed a startling 171.8 rushing yards per game this season. In this matchup, with Matt Barkley under center, it would make sense for the Bears to give Howard all the work he can handle. The game has a one point spread (49ers favored), so it should stay competitive, which helps Howard from a game flow perspective.

Nelson Agholor will be active, but given his recent mental struggles on the field and general poor performance, he isn’t a recommended fantasy play. Dorial Green-Beckham will be the leading receiver and he’s a solid target. With Matthews in and out of their last game against the Packers, Green-Beckham caught 6-of-10 targets for 82 yards. He had a 5/54/1 line on eight targets the week prior. Zach Ertz should also see an uptick in volume against a Cincinnati defense that ranks 25th in TE DVOA.

Jones (thigh) is inactive for the Lions today. Stafford will spread his targets around to Golden Tate, Anquan Boldin, Eric Ebron, and Theo Riddick. They have a great matchup in the Superdome with a 53.5-point total. All four players project as high-ranking points-per-dollar options at their positions.

This is surprising. Apparently he did well during warm ups and stated his case to play, Parker will suit up today. He’s averaged 8.0 targets over the past three games. Given that Baltimore has a tough rush defense ranking 1st in DVOA, the Dolphins may struggle to establish a running game with Ajayi, causing them to air it out. However, Miami’s coaches will be monitoring Parker and he’s at risk of having a reduced snap count today or being used as a decoy. He’ll also have to deal with Jimmy Smith on at least a third of his routes. Parker is a risky play. Jarvis Landry should avoid Smith’s coverage in the slot, and could see an uptick in targets with Parker banged up and a tough rushing outlook for the Phins. He’s a solid option on full PPR sites today.

RotoGrinders player props are posted for the 1:00 PM games and the 4:00 PM props are starting to trickle in. One player that really stands out is RB Jordan Howard. We don’t have a prop yet for some of the later RBs but Howard currently has the highest yardage total on the board at 95.5. The matchup couldn’t be better for Howard against a historically bad 49ers run defense. The only concern is whether or not the Bears can keep things close long enough to establish a running game.
