DFBC 2013 Preview Part 1: The $10 Qualifiers
In just 7 days, 45 finalists will compete in Las Vegas for a $200K first place prize in the DFBC. All week long we’ll be previewing the games, finalists and more leading up to our live coverage from Vegas next Saturday. In part 1, we take a look at the qualifiers who beat 2000 others to earn their seats from the $10 games.
$10 Qualifiers
Here are the 15 $10 Qualifiers in order of date qualified:
$10 Qualifier Fun Facts

- RG Grind Down+ and Daily Plays Author, HeadChopper, has now qualified for the last 3 main events on FanDuel (FFFC, DFBBC and DFBC)
- Headchopper also tallied the highest score among $10 qualifiers with an 84.5 thanks in part to the Coors Field Factor.
- Grinder Jlove18 posted the second highest qualifier score AND was the only player to earn 2 entries via the $10 games.
- Todd Frazier massive 18.75 point performance was the 2nd largest from any hitter on a qualifying team, and it came in the early going from Ang Bri Bre. The largest belonged to Jonathan Lucroy on Alby71’s qualifying team with a 19 point night.
- Tournament specialist TheBigLombardi had three teams in the top 10 when he qualified.
- Dumbthumb took the biggest contribution from a pitcher, behind Shelby Miller 26 fantasy point performance. Smadog, who always seems to find his way into these big events, followed closely behind with a 25 point outing from Anibal Sanchez.
- 5 of the 15 qualifiers were able to advance despite having a negative score from one of their players.
- The “all-highest scoring players” team would look like this:
SP – Shelby Miller – 26 points (dumbthumb)
C – Jonathan Lucroy – 19 points (alby71)
1B – Lyle Overbay – 15.75 points (dumbthumb)
2B – Jedd Gyorko – 10.75 points (headchopper)
3B – Todd Frazier – 18.75 points (AngBriBre)
SS – Jose Reyes – 8.75 (jaydontpay)
OF – Raul Ibanez – 14.75 (joeyengland98)
OF – Carlos Beltran – 13.5 (jlove18)
OF – Lucas Duda – 12.75 (cmf1994)
I just did the math fairly quickly in my head but that totaled an obscene 140 points (and actually looks like a lineup you could build under the salary cap at FD)
Alright well that does it for part 1. In a day or two we’ll post the $25 qualifiers followed by the $109’s. Then later in the week look for some more strategy-specific posts as we get closer to the main event!
