Fanball NFL Auction Breakdown: Week 7 - Tuesday, October 16th

Hey everyone, welcome to the Fanball NFL Auction breakdown. If you haven’t played on this site before, it’s a product unlike anything you’ve ever seen before in DFS. They will be offering an Auction-style format drafting with four players on the board at all times, meaning you have to be on your toes and be aware of what is going on, because split-second mistakes can be costly.

Each team must draft 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, and 1 TE. No player can be left on the board at the end of the draft, so if you are the last player not to draft a TE, then when the last TE goes on the board you will autodraft them for $1.

RG Exclusive Offer: Deposit $20 on Fanball and get a $20 bonus!

There are four players up for auction at all times, so you need to be able to adlib on the fly if someone goes drastically over or under what you are projecting to pay for them. You can find the full scoring system for Fanball NFL here.

Be sure to check out Kevin Cole’s overall look at his projected values before my breakdown below.

Tuesday, October 16th

Quarterback

Andrew Luck – $1
Cam Newton – $2
Carson Wentz – $2
Jameis Winston – $2
Deshaun Watson – $1
Matthew Stafford – $2

QB is by far the easiest position to figure out on this slate for Fanball. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO YOU GET! Just pick your favorite guy and bid one or two dollars on him. That’s my strategy here, and if you really want to, you can pay up, but there’s not a huge difference in my opinon here from the top to bottom like there is with every other position. Spend your money elsewhere and let the rest bid up QBs to high levels.

Running Back

Todd Gurley – $32
Christian McCaffrey – $25
Alvin Kamara – $22
Joe Mixon – $17
Kareem Hunt – $17
James White – $10
Tarik Cohen – $10
LeSean McCoy – $10
Adrian Peterson – $6
Duke Johnson – $2
Corey Clement – $1
Kerryon Johnson – $1

While with QB there isn’t a drastic difference between the top guy and the bottom guy and they will likely end up in a bunch around 20 points this week, RB is a completely different story. There is a very real possibility that Gurley ends up scoring 30 more points than any of the bottom three RBs here.

Gurley – Pay up for him if you can, but make sure that you can still get serviceable options at the rest of the positions. If you end up blowing your entire bankroll on Gurley and end up getting stuck with two bad WRs and a bad RB2, there is very little chance you end up coming in the money this week.

McCaffrey, Kamara, Mixon, Hunt – This next tier here is a giant upgrade over the likes of Duke Johnson, Corey Clement, and Kerryon Johnson. It may be my hatred of all of them, but it could also be that these four are great PPR backs, and this is a PPR site. I’m lower on Kamara because of the split backfield they have going now, but if you really think he’s a better option than McCaffrey, you can pay up for him, but to me Mixon and Hunt are probably going to get close to the same points.

White, Cohen, McCoy, Peterson – To me, I’m spending up a little bit for White and Cohen considering that this is a full point PPR site. Getting White or Cohen as an RB2 here is a great option and should be your go to if you want some decent WRs. McCoy and Peterson aren’t great, but they are a pretty decent amount better than the bottom tier to me.

Johnson, Clement, K.Johnson – Do what you can to avoid drafting these guys. I do not want them on any of my teams, and you should plan throughout your draft not to get stuck with these guys.

Wide Receiver

Michael Thomas – $23
Tyreek Hill – $22
Deandre Hopkins – $17
Mike Evans – $17
Robert Woods – $16
Alshon Jeffery – $8
Golden Tate – $8
Julian Edelman – $8
Kenny Golladay – $6
Devin Funchess – $4
Albert Wilson – $1
Cole Beasley – $1

Thomas, Hill, Hopkins, Evans, Woods – You should be doing what you can to make sure you get one of these guys in your lineup if you don’t end up with Gurley or two top RBs in your lineup. I give a bump to Thomas, but realistically it could just as easy be any of these guys as the number one WR out of this pool.

Jeffery, Tate, Edelman, Golladay, Funchess – This is the next tier to me and you need to make sure you have one of these guys in your lineup if you don’t have two guys from the top tier in there. These guys probably aren’t going to score a ton of points, but they are drastic upgrades to what we’ve got coming up next.

Albert Wilson and Cole Beasley – If you’re reading this, that probably means you’re thinking of settling for one of these guys in one of your drafts. Either stop thinking that or quit DFS. I get these guys had huge weeks this week, but they are not going to repeat (or at least the odds are way worse than the guys above them). Plan on getting someone else. If for some reason these two guys actually get bid on early in the draft, you can punt your WR2 for whoever is left at the end.

Tight End

Zach Ertz – $20
Travis Kelce – $18
Trey Burton – $7
Eric Ebron – $7
Jordan Reed – $4
O.J. Howard – $1

Ertz and Kelce – Either of these two guys are the top plays, but there aren’t really any terrible TEs in today’s player pool. Don’t get me wrong, Ertz and Kelce are clearly way ahead here, but they aren’t going to score double-digit points over the field. The smart move here is to see where they end up going in the draft and plan accordingly. With everyone else focusing on these stud RBs, you may be able to get one of these guys at a huge discount.

Ebron, Burton, Reed – Honestly I may be lower on Ebron and Reed than most and higher on Burton, but Doyle might come back and I really like Burton this week. You should try to make sure that you get one of these guys if you aren’t paying up for Kelce or Ertz, and earlier on in the draft you probably can snag one for cheap. This is a spot you need to play by ear, but make sure you don’t get stuck with the next guy.

O.J. Howard – Look, this isn’t as much as a downgrade as it is with the bottom WRs or RBs, but its still a bit of a downgrade. Try not to get stuck with him, but if you have a choice of getting stuck with him and a decent WR or a different TE and one of the bottom WR/RBs, then you make sure to get a better WR/RB instead.

Remember guys, keep an eye out for whats happening in your draft and if guys are going for way less than they are projected for here, you should know that some of these prices may be too low. Likewise, if guys are going for higher than the above price early on, you can get a lot of these guys at a huge discount.
