Analysis: Bauer is a pitcher that I rarely consider in cash games, unless the matchup is too good to pass up. He has too many of those bad outings where he gives up 4-5 runs. He draws a decent matchup tonight against the Reds, but they actually have the sixth-lowest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Daily fantasy sports are all about options and there are better options at Bauer’s price point tonight.

Analysis: Leake pitched well before the All-Star break, posting a 3.03 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 21.2%. He draws a decent matchup tonight against the Indians, who have really dropped off the map offensively. They are now ranked 22nd in wOBA (.303) against right-handed pitching on the season. The issue with the Indians is that they don’t strikeout often and they have taken the third-most pitches of any team. Leake is cheap, but he’s a tournament play at best tonight.

The Indians actually have a decent matchup tonight, as Mike Leake has given up a .344 wOBA to left-handed hitters over the last two seasons. Cleveland’s lineup is chock-full of left-handed bats and it also helps that they are playing in the home run-friendly Great American Ballpark.

He draws a favorable matchup tonight against the Braves, who are ranked 20th in wOBA (.307) against right-handed pitching this season. Hendricks will have a low ownership level again tonight, making him an intriguing tournament play.

Analysis: For whatever reason, Teheran is a much better pitcher at home than he is on the road. His SIERA and walk rate are both lower at home, while his strikeout rate is markedly higher. He draws a plus-matchup tonight against the Cubs, who are ranked 23rd in wOBA (.299) and 29th in strikeout rate (24.5%) against right-handed pitching this season. He’s worth a look as an under-the-radar play tonight.

They draw a fairly difficult matchup tonight against Julio Teheran, who has really pitched well at home throughout his career. Anthony Rizzo and Chris Coghlan are both secondary options.

He has been one of the worst starters in baseball, posting a 5.10 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 15.8% since the start of the 2014 season. Even in favorable matchup against the White Sox, he should be avoided in all league formats.

Analysis: Danks is one of those pitchers that opponents routinely use for batting practice. Since the start of last season, he has given up a .366 wOBA to right-handed hitters. Add in a matchup against a Royals’ team that has the lowest strikeout of any team against left-handed pitching and he becomes one of the lease appealing pitching options on the board tonight.

He should continue to be avoided tonight against a Pirates’ offense that was surging right before the All-Star break.

I typically like to give pitchers a couple of starts when they are coming back from injury, especially when they are facing an opponent the caliber of the Astros.
