Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.295 (Rank: 19) — Strikeout Rate: 16.7% (Rank: 3)
Pitchers per PA: 3.73 (Rank: 24)
Analysis: Bauer is a pitcher that I rarely consider in cash games, unless the matchup is too good to pass up. He has too many of those bad outings where he gives up 4-5 runs. He draws a decent matchup tonight against the Reds, but they actually have the sixth-lowest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Daily fantasy sports are all about options and there are better options at Bauer’s price point tonight.
Pitcher Rating:56.4
Mike Leake : FD: $6,100 — DK: $6,500
Pitching Stats:

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.289 (Rank: 21) — Strikeout Rate: 20.8% (Rank: 16)
Pitchers per PA: 3.93 (Rank: 3)
Analysis: Leake pitched well before the All-Star break, posting a 3.03 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 21.2%. He draws a decent matchup tonight against the Indians, who have really dropped off the map offensively. They are now ranked 22nd in wOBA (.303) against right-handed pitching on the season. The issue with the Indians is that they don’t strikeout often and they have taken the third-most pitches of any team. Leake is cheap, but he’s a tournament play at best tonight.
Pitcher Rating:55.9

Cleveland
The Indians actually have a decent matchup tonight, as Mike Leake has given up a .344 wOBA to left-handed hitters over the last two seasons. Cleveland’s lineup is chock-full of left-handed bats and it also helps that they are playing in the home run-friendly Great American Ballpark.

Cincinnati
The Reds draw a decent matchup against Trevor Bauer, who has given up a .305+ wOBA to hitters from both sides of the plate over the last two seasons. Todd Frazier is fresh off of a Home Run Derby championship. It’s a good spot for another home run tonight, as Bauer is an extreme fly-ball pitcher.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.306 (Rank: 17) — Strikeout Rate: 19.5% (Rank: 11)
Pitchers per PA: 3.77 (Rank: 20)
Analysis: Hendricks continues to post quality starts for the Cubs and no one seems to have noticed. Over the last month of play, he has a 3.32 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 19.7%. He draws a favorable matchup tonight against the Braves, who are ranked 20th in wOBA (.307) against right-handed pitching this season. Hendricks will have a low ownership level again tonight, making him an intriguing tournament play.

Pitchers per PA: 3.98 (Rank: 1)
Analysis: For whatever reason, Teheran is a much better pitcher at home than he is on the road. His SIERA and walk rate are both lower at home, while his strikeout rate is markedly higher. He draws a plus-matchup tonight against the Cubs, who are ranked 23rd in wOBA (.299) and 29th in strikeout rate (24.5%) against right-handed pitching this season. He’s worth a look as an under-the-radar play tonight.

The Braves draw a tough matchup against Kyle Hendricks, who has held left and right-handed hitters under a .300 wOBA over the last two seasons. Their lineup really lacks power with Freddie Freeman out. Kelly Johnson is worth a look, but he’s a better tournament play than a cash game play.

Analysis: Young will start the second-half of the double-header for the Royals. He has been one of the worst starters in baseball, posting a 5.10 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 15.8% since the start of the 2014 season. Even in favorable matchup against the White Sox, he should be avoided in all league formats.

Analysis: Danks is one of those pitchers that opponents routinely use for batting practice. Since the start of last season, he has given up a .366 wOBA to right-handed hitters. Add in a matchup against a Royals’ team that has the lowest strikeout of any team against left-handed pitching and he becomes one of the lease appealing pitching options on the board tonight.

The Royals hit left-handed pitching well as a team. They should be able to feast on John Danks tonight, who as mentioned above, is downright awful against hitters from the right side of the plate. Analysis: Morton is a low-strikeout pitcher with below-average command. That’s not exactly what we are looking for in a pitcher. He does produce a high ground-ball rate which helps him get out of jams, but the upside isn’t there tonight. He draws a tough matchup against the Brewers, who are ranked third in wOBA (.370) over the last 14 days of play.

Analysis: Fiers has not pitched well recently, posting a 5.08 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 15.0%. You may see the 24.7% strikeout rate over the last two seasons and think that he is a good pitching option, but his strikeouts have taken a huge dip this year. He should continue to be avoided tonight against a Pirates’ offense that was surging right before the All-Star break.

Martin Perez : FD: $5,600 — DK: N/A
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 51.1 — SIERA: 4.10 — K%: 16.9% — BB%: 9.2% — FB Rate: 24.7% — HR/FB: 8.1%
Houston Astros Offense (2015)

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.295 (Rank: 19) — Strikeout Rate: 23.0% (Rank: 27)
Pitchers per PA: 3.85 (Rank: 9)
Analysis: Perez will make his first start of the season, after missing the last year or so after having Tommy John surgery. He is coming off of a 2014 campaign where he posted a 4.10 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 16.9%. I typically like to give pitchers a couple of starts when they are coming back from injury, especially when they are facing an opponent the caliber of the Astros.
Pitcher Rating:45.5
Collin McHugh : FD: $8,400 — DK: $7,700

Texas Rangers Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.320 (Rank: 9) — Strikeout Rate: 20.0% (Rank: 19)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.310 (Rank: 15) — Strikeout Rate: 17.0% (Rank: 5)
Pitchers per PA: 3.80 (Rank: 13)
Analysis: McHugh is hoping that the All-Star break can kickstart his 2015 campaign. He draws a difficult matchup tonight against the Rangers though, as they are ranked ninth in wOBA (.320) against right-handed pitching this season. The strikeout potential is there, but Texas is a very tough opponent now that they are fully healthy.

Texas
The Rangers draw a tough matchup against Collin McHugh, who has held left and right-handed hitters under a .305 wOBA over the last two seasons. Prince Fielder, Adrian Beltre, and Shin-Soo Choo are all in play in the hitter-friendly Minute Maid Park, but they are all secondary options at their respective positions.

Houston
The Astros have a lot of right-handed power bats in their lineup, which should bode well for their matchup against Martin Perez, who has given up a .334 wOBA to right-handed hitters in his career. Don’t be afraid to load up on Astros’ bats tonight at home.
