NHL GPP Plays: Tuesday, October 27th

Every Tuesday and Thursday I am going to give you my top tournament plays for all Daily Fantasy Hockey GPPs (guaranteed prize pool). GPPs are a general term used across the industry for your big money tournaments.

GPPs are very different from your cash games and you use a different strategy with them. In our GPPs we are not interested in safe plays, since GPPs are all about UPSIDE. We want players who can explode, as all-or-nothing type players can become GPP gold, and your value players are just as important as your star players. You need your players to have huge nights in order to take down these big tournaments.

My goal is to provide players who will be under-owned and have that big game upside you are looking for. I will also try to find as much value as I possibly can. Now, let’s get to the FanDuel NHL GPP plays!

GOALTENDERS

Make sure to check the RotoGrinders Starting Goalies Page to confirm that the goalies listed below are starting prior to game time.

Carey Price, Montréal Canadiens – If the season ended today, Carey Price would once again take home both the Vezina and the Hart trophy. He has posted phenomenal numbers (1.29 GAA, .961 SV% 2 SO), leading the Habs to a 9-0 start this season. The Vancouver Canucks have a solid offense, averaging 31.3 shots per game. Price will likely need to make 30 plus saves to win this game and he is certainly capable of that. Despite his terrific play, Price should be highly under-owned in tournaments due to his high salary.

Other Goalies To Target – Jake Allen, Jonathan Quick, Antti Niemi

CENTERS

david-krejci-300x200

David Krejci, Boston Bruins – Because they lack a superstar and their scoring is usually spread out amongst the top three lines, the Boston Bruins offense tends to get ignored in tournament play. This will work out nicely tonight as we can expect all of the Bruins key players to be low-percentage owned. David Krejci has very quietly put up fantastic numbers (5 G, 12 PTS in 7 GP) this year and he has multi-point upside in this game.

Other Centers To Target – Adam Henrique, Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid, Ryan Getzlaf

WINGERS

Michael Cammalleri, New Jersey Devils – Until the Columbus Blue jackets fix their issues on the back end, they are a team I will continue to pick on. The Blue Jackets have allowed the most goals per game (4.44) in the NHL this season. Cammalleri has been on tear recently, generating seven points and 17 shots on goal in his last three games. Cammalleri is an underrated sniper and I love his potential in this matchup.

wayne-simmonds-300x200

Wayne Simmonds and Michael Raffl, Philadelphia Flyers – With all the attention on Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek, look for Simmonds and Raffl to fly under the radar in GPPs tonight. The Flyers should light up the Sabres tonight and that means plenty of scoring to go around. If you want the higher upside player, go with Simmonds. However, if you are looking for value or cheap exposure to the top line, Raffl is your guy.

Max Domi, Arizona Coyotes – I knew Domi was talented, but I did not expect him to be this good, this fast. Domi is the Desert Dogs’ best player night in and night out. He has four goals, 10 points and 20 shots on goals in nine games this season. The Boston Bruins and Tuukka Rask have struggled to keep the puck out of their net and there is no reason why Domi can’t stay hot in this matchup.

Other Wingers To Target – Brad Marchand, Brandon Saad, Gabriel Landeskog, Brendan Gallagher

DEFENSE

Colton Parayko, St Louis Blues – The talented 22-year-old blueliner is now leading the charge on the Blues’ number one power play unit. Parayko is coming off a huge game (1 G, 2 PTS, 6 SOG) against the New York Islanders and he oozes offensive upside. The matchup versus the Tampa Bay Lightning is not ideal, but with his low salary across the industry, he is worth the roll of the dice.

Other Defensemen To Target – Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Brian Campbell, Rasmus Ristolainen, Justin Schultz
