A Nice GPP QB Despite The Price
The current market price on Andy Dalton certainly feels elevated, but I hope that serves to lower his ownership, and that certainly might happen after Cincinnati’s disastrous game on Sunday night against the Chiefs. However, this is a great bounce-back spot at home against a dreadful Tampa Bay defense that has allowed a league-worst 328 passing yards per game. Expect a big performance here, and Dalton is one of my favorite GPP targets of the week.
Ready to Take Over
Marlon Mack was eased back into the mix in his first game of the season two weeks ago, but he quickly affirmed his status as the running back to target on this Indianapolis team moving forward with a solid 19/126/1 line against Buffalo while also adding a touchdown in the passing game. He played on 63% of the offensive snaps if you exclude the final drive when the game was out of hand, and that might even rise moving forward. Fire him up as a great value against a feeble Oakland squad that has already given up on this season.
The Pivot Off Gurley?
This might be another week where we see heavy ownership on a few running backs, but it’s hard to endorse going underweight on both Barkley and Gurley. What Barkley has done is perhaps even more impressive than Gurley, given the fact that Barkley plays in an offense that often appears to be operating in quick sand. Despite a down game on the ground a week ago, Barkley showed off his ridiculous floor with nine catches for 51 yards, and that will likely continue with the Giants trailing in most games. He actually ranks 6th in the NFL in receptions on the year, ahead of names like DeAndre Hopkins and Tyreek Hill. His electric play-making ability also gives him upside, and he’s really the only reason to watch the Giants these days. Fire him up in all formats in Week 8.
Last Man Standing?
I certainly don’t LOVE the 2018 version of Jordy Nelson, but what else do the Raiders have to turn to offensively? Marshawn Lynch is out. Amari Cooper has been traded. There’s just not much left in the cupboard for Jon Gruden. Nelson is going to get a ton of volume in the passing game, and the Colts are by no means an elite defense. This is simply a buy-low value proposition.
Rising To The Top Despite Being the WR #2 On His Team
It might not be long before we are calling Smith-Schuster the #1A to Antonio Brown in this Pittsburgh passing game. In two career games against the Browns, JuJu has gone for 5/119 and 9/143/1. He is still cheaper than Brown on all the DFS sites, and the upside is comparable at this point. Give me all the JuJu in GPP formats in Week 8 against a Cleveland defense that — despite solid DVOA metrics — has still allowed the fifth most passing yards per game in the NFL this year. Some of that is due to all their overtime games, but I’ll still side with the Steelers’ offense at home.
Dolphins expected to place Albert Wilson (hip) on IR
Not only has Wilson been ruled out for the Dolphins Thursday night contest with the Texans, but it sounds like the severity of his hip injury is going to land the wide receiver on IR. In his absence, expect for Jakeem Grant and Danny Amendola to pick up additional targets, especially this Thursday night with fellow WR Kenny Stills inactive as well.
WR Albert Wilson (hip) ruled out Thursday night
Fellow wideout Kenny Stills has also been ruled out so Jakeem Grant and DeVante Parker will be the Dolphins’ new starting outside receivers while Danny Amendola continues to man the slot. Grant probably has the most upside of the group and Parker has yet to play with current starting QB Brock Osweiler this season.
As reported by: Cameron WolfeWR Rishard Matthews signs with Jets
Expect the former Titans wideout to immediately see action in 3-WR sets while Quincy Enunwa remains out, though this shouldn’t equate to much fantasy relevance on one of the lowest volume passing attacks in the league.
As reported by: Adam SchefterRandall Cobb and Geronimo Allison Practicing
Randall Cobb, Geronimo Allison and Jaire Alexander all will practice today, coach Mike McCarthy said. This is a good sign for Cobb and Allison being ready to play this weekend. It would put a damper on the value WR plays for Green Bay that have paid off in recent weeks. We will know for certain closer to game time.
As reported by: Rob Demovsky TwitterMarshawn Lynch (groin) placed on IR
The Raiders have placed Marshawn Lynch (groin) on IR. This news combined with the trading of Amari Cooper today shows we will have a significantly different looking Raiders offense moving forward, with Doug Martin and Jalen Richard splitting carries out of the backfield in Lynch’s absence.
Cowboys release WR Brice Butler
Cowboys have released WR Brice Butler in correspondence with their trading for Amari Cooper. Cooper will step in as the primary receiving option for the Cowboys.
Jaguars release RB Jamaal Charles
The Jaguars have released RB Jamaal Charles in correspondence with their trading for Carlos Hyde. It appears Hyde and T.J. Yeldon will lead the Jaguars backfield until Leonard Fournette is able to return from his hamstring injury.
Jaguars confirm Blake Bortles will start in Week 8
Despite being benched in favor of Cody Kessler during week 7 due to poor play against the Texans, the Jaguars have confirmed that Blake Bortles will start for the team Week 8. Bortles will look to bounce back in London against the Eagles, who have been much stronger against the run than the pass thus far this season.
Dolphins believe Albert Wilson (hip) may be out for the season
The Dolphins believe that Albert Wilson may be out for the season due to the hip injury he sustained during week 7. It is safe to say he won’t be suiting up this Thursday night against the Texans, and we may soon see him placed on IR once the severity of the injury is officially determined. Look for Jakeem Grant to see more usage in the Dolphins passing game as a result, especially this Thursday night with Kenny Stills out as well.
Josh Allen (elbow) ruled out for Week 8, Derek Anderson to start for the Bills
No surprise here, but Josh Allen has officially been ruled out for Week 8 due to his elbow injury, and Derek Anderson has been confirmed as the starter for the Bills. Anderson will square off against the Patriots on Monday Night football, and will probably be tasked with throwing and throwing often as the Patriots figure to have a sizable lead for most of the game.
