Pulock To Shine Against Slumping Oilers
Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of defensemen on tonight’s slate that have a huge upside if you want to pay up for them. Brent Burns and Morgan Rielly would be at the top of this list as they each have averaged at least a point-per-game this season. Pulock comes into this one playing some solid defense as the Islanders get to host an Edmonton team that is not only giving up a ton of goals of late (27 in the last seven games), but come into this one fresh off a 3-1 loss in Carolina last night. This should bode well not only for Pulock, who has registered seven of his 26 points over the last eight games, but for the whole team as well as they sit atop the Metropolitan Division.
Breadman To Fire Up the Oven This Evening
The Blue Jackets will look to the top line to try and get things done this evening. This means that Artemi Panarin should be the focal point this evening as not only does he lead the team with 42 assists and 64 points, he also leads the team with 14 points when the team has the extra attacker as well. This is important because Chicago, who happens to be the team that traded him away two years ago, has given up eight goals over the last 26 times they have tried to kill a penalty. Columbus has shuffled up their lines a bit over the past few weeks so sticking with the team’s best player makes the most sense here.
This aging winger has turned back the clock this season.
At 34 years old, Zach Parise has turned back the clock a bit and is on pace for his best offensive season since 2014-2015 in goals, assists and points. He’s going to be playing on the top line this evening with Mikael Granlund and Charlie Coyle as the Minnesota Wild host the New Jersey Devils. Over the last month, the Devils have been horrible with a league-worst possession at 43.31 CF%. On the flip side, the Wild have the third-best CF% at 54.24 which could end up being quite a mis-match tonight. Parise and Granlund also play on the top power play unit together which gives them more upside and perhaps a good play as a two-man mini stack.

Several weeks ago, Minnesota sent Nino Niederreiter to Carolina in exchange for Victor Rask. At the time, the trade left many Wild fans scratching their heads. The trade has looked even worse by the day for Minnesota, as Nino has been excellent for his new team. He’s playing between 18 to 20 minutes a night on the number one line at even strength and the power play. Tonight, he’ll face an Edmonton team leaking in goals at an alarming rate. Lock and load.
Young Winger Enjoying Line Promotion
The loss of David Pastrnak due to injury has led to a promotion to the first line for Danton Heinen. Heinen has taken advantage of the opportunity, with six points in his last four games, including a three-point effort in his last outing. He’s skating with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand, which will create plenty of opportunities for the youngster. The Bruins will be facing the Ducks, who are arguably one of the worst three teams in the NHL. Heinen’s price has risen on DraftKings, but is a steal on FanDuel at just $4100.

Jeff Skinner has been incredible for the Buffalo Sabres this season and seems to returned to early-career form as an elite sniper. At just 26 years old, he has really benefited from playing with Jack Eichel and if Buffalo doesn’t pay him, somebody else will. His concussion issues seem to be a thing of the past and he has turned into one of the best goal-scorers in the game. He continues to play alongside Eichel tonight with Jason Pominville on the other wing. The Sabres host the New York Rangers tonight who will have Alexandar Georgiev between the pipes. Georgiev has struggled this season with a 3.11 goals against average and .905 save percentage.

Danton Heinen replaced David Pastrnak on the Boston Bruins top line last game and will continue to do so for the time being. Heinen picked up one goal and two assists in 14:28 of ice-time as the Bruins doubled up the Chicago Blackhawks 6-3. Unfortunately, Heinen didn’t join them on the top power play unit but the line is clearly effective enough at even strength that it doesn’t matter. Tonight the Bruins have another solid matchup as the take on the Anaheim Ducks. Goaltender Kevin Boyle had a shutout in his first career NHL start last game against the Vancouver Canucks, but there is no reason to believe he won’t get shelled tonight.

Early in the season we saw how productive Buffalo’s top line of Jack Eichel, Jeff Skinner and Jason Pominville were, but after some time, Pominville slid down the depth chart. He is back on the top line and has found his game again in February with three goals in six games. While Pominville does not skate on the team’s top power play unit, the Sabres’ top line should get their fair share of chances against a Rangers’ squad (46.31 CF%) who trails only the Ottawa Senators league-worst Corsi For (44.76 CF%).
Young Wild forward has three multi-point games in five contests this month
If you are looking for a low-owned option, even on this four game slate, have a look at Luke Kunin who has collected three goals and four assists in just five February games. Luke Kunin is dirt-cheap across the industry and has really flashed value and upside recently as he is averaging nearly 17 minutes of ice time after the All-Star Break. Kunin sees power play time on the second unit and draws a great matchup against the disastrous Devils who continue to get pounded on the road. Take a chance on Kunin in tournaments.
Shot-blocking specialist eyes big night on the road
While Kris Russell does not do much offensively, his chances for a big night defensively are high tonight against the shot-happy Hurricanes. Kris Russell is averaging 2.65 blocks per game and the matchup does not get any better as Carolina leads the National Hockey League in shot attempts (585). Kris Russell is cheap across the industry and makes for a low-owned flyer in tournaments as he looks to pile up the blocks and perhaps run into an assist.
This could be a sneaky-good underowned option for tonight.
Dylan Larkin has had a solid start of 2019, with 7 goals and 14 goals in 15 games so far. The Detroit Red Wings have stacked their top line with what little talent they have as Larkin will be centering Anthony Mantha and Gustav Nyquist. This line also remains together on the top power play unit which gives them full-game correlation. Additionally, the opposing Ottawa Senators have been terrible. Over the last month, they are dead last allowing a 66.83 CA/60 which should give this line plenty of opportunities.

Vladimir Tarasenko has been on a tear since the calendar changed to 2019. He has put up 11 goals and 22 points in 17 games since January 1st and has really removed any doubts that many were having. In reality, it was really just a horrific December that was causing his season totals to be way down. His 2 points in 13 December games were abysmal, but outside of that month he has put up 42 points in 41 games which is on par with what we have come to expect out of Tank. Tonight the St. Louis Blues visit the Arizona Coyotes — a team that as mentioned above, has barely hung on to their playoff hopes. However, over the last month, Arizona has struggled with a 65.82 CA/60 which ranks 28th and a 46.56 CF% which ranks 27th.
Other tagged players: Brayden Schenn, Ryan O'ReillyIn 2019, this has been the best offensive player.
No player has been better than Patrick Kane since 2018 ended. In his 16 games in 2019, Kane has an unbelievable 11 goals and 32 points in just 16 games. Averaging two points per game over a stretch of 20 percent of the season is a long time and very impressive. When you consider how poorly the Chicago Blackhawks had been playing this season, Kane hasn’t missed a beat. Although they have played a bit better as of late, they are still just 8-5-3 in 2019 which is good for 19 points. Blackhawks host the New Jersey Devils tonight Cory Schneider continues to look for a win. He has struggled once again this season with a 4.12 goals against average and a .868 save percentage — both of which are horrific.

The Richmond Hill, Ontario native has lead the surging St. Louis Blues with a 10-1-1 record, 1.82 GAA and .927 SV%. As a team, the Blues have won seven consecutive contests as Vladimir Tarasenko has really stepped up his game alongside two-way stud Ryan O’Reilly. Binnington is just a modest $8,000 on FanDuel and a mid-range option on DraftKings ($7,800) on a typical night where there is no must-have netminder. Arizona is averaging just 2.69 goals per game on home ice and will find it challenging to crack a confident St. Louis team. Binnington is a great option in all formats.
Fast-paced environment bodes well for top liner
Reilly Smith is well off his pace from a season ago, but he has also suffered from a poor shooting percentage (7.4%). With the fast-paced Toronto Maple Leafs making a visit to Sin City, Reilly has a good chance to produce, and his price tag is not prohibitive. The Golden Knights disappointed big time against the Coyotes last time out which should keep ownership in check. Prior to that game, Reilly picked up three assists in two games. Last season, Smith averaged more than a point per game on home ice. Look for Vegas to bounce back tonight.
