Sophomore Swede is shining for New Jersey in February
Jesper Bratt checks in at under $4,000 on both DraftKings and FanDuel which puts him into the conversation for both cash games and tournaments. It is hard to overlook what Bratt has done in February as the 20 year old has picked up a pair of goals and six assists in nine contests. Additionally, Bratt has picked up a power play point in three consecutive games. While a matchup with the Pittsburgh Penguins is not the most exploitable (like the Chicago-Ottawa contest last night), the Devils have dominated the Penguins this season, winning all three games and outscoring Pittsburgh 15-6. Bratt is a strong play tonight.
This winger is benefiting from his first line promotion
With the injury to David Pastrnak, Danton Heinen has filled in on the top line alongside Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand. The trio started their first game off incredibly with three points for Heinen but the two since have been goose eggs. Tonight as they visit the San Jose Sharks will not be an easy matchup but the Sharks goaltending has struggled this season with Martin Jones putting up just a .899 SV%.

Patrick Kane has 37 points in 18 games in 2019 and is showing no signs of slowing down. His line with Jonathan Toews and Drake Caggiula has been great at even strength, though 12 of those 37 points have come with the man advantage. A home game vs. the Ottawa Senators is a premium matchup for Kane and the Blackhawks.

With an absurd 13 points in his last 4 games, Nikita Kucherov and the Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Columbus Blue Jackets. This surge comes after Kucherov had just 6 points in his previous 10 games, though he still remained the NHL points leader through the slump. Kucherov is playing with Brayden Point and Yanni Gourde on the 1b line of the Lightning. Point and Kucherov play on the same PP unit which gives the two man stack a bit more appeal.

A creative way to approach the Patrick Kane chalk tonight is to go with a power play stack and Dylan Strome is a pivotal piece of that. After rotting in the desert for his first several seasons, Strome is shining in Chicago. The 6’ 3” center has 32 points (11G, 21A) in 35 games as his confidence continues to soar. The Ottawa Senators continue to allow an alarming rate of chances per 60 minutes at 5-on-5 (66.40 CA/60) which adds to Strome’s value at even-strength alongside Alex DeBrincat and Dominik Kahun – a trio that has shown considerable chemistry for the Blackhawks. Strome is an excellent target in tournaments.
Rookie forward is averaging four shots on goal per game after All-Star break
While most will gravitate toward the other side of this game, particularly Patrick Kane (and for good reason), do not sleep on the Ottawa Senators. A game stack makes a lot of sense here as both teams are leaky defensively. Enter Brady Tkachuk who averages around 15 minutes of ice time per game. Brady has not had a multi-point game since the end of December, but he continues to fire the puck on net, collecting 15 shots over his last three games. In a game that should feature plenty of goals, Brady Tkachuk is a nice source of salary relief.
Goalie seeks his 29th win of the season
Martin Jones sits second in the league in wins (28), trailing only Marc-Andre Fleury (29). While Boston has a solid team, they are still without David Pastrnak who is such a weapon with the man-advantage. Additionally, the Boston Bruins are averaging just 2.36 goals per game on the road this season which is by far the worst number in the Eastern Conference. The Sharks have lost in regulation on home ice just four times in 28 contests, so at the very least, Jones should have a good chance of picking up another win. He makes sense in all formats on a slate with no stand out netminder.
Five-game scoreless streak offers buy-low opportunity on captain
Oliver Ekman-Larsson is down to $3,800 on DraftKings which stands out as a nice value given OEL’s skill set. The Coyotes’ captain is averaging nearly 24 minutes per game and does get top power play minutes. While a matchup with the Leafs does not stand out on the surface, the Leafs’ play at such a fast pace which provides opposing defensemen with a good chance to pick up blocked shots which provides OEL a bit more value. Last time these two teams met, the Coyotes won 4-2 in Toronto and Oliver picked up an assist. Defensemen in this price range with a reasonable floor and upside like Ekman-Larsosn are hard to find, so he makes sense in all formats if not spending up.
Metropolitan forward takes on team that traded him away for peanuts
It is plausible that Jordan Eberle would love to do nothing more than stick it to the Oilers. Much is talked about the Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson trade (debacle?), but the Ryan Strome for Jordan Eberle trade is not that far behind it. Though Eberle has not really produced much this season as he is averaging under 0.50 points per game, a matchup with Edmonton’s porous penalty kill is mouth-watering. Furthermore, the Oilers played last night and this is not a team with much depth. The Islanders’ scoring is relatively spread out, but Eberle sees top power play minutes and has the narrative working in his favor. The best part is he does not cost an arm and a leg. He’s an excellent target in tournaments.
Cheap price tag gives young Jet viability in all formats
Though the Senators smashed the Jets just a week ago, it will be hard for them to duplicate that result, especially on the road with the Jets coming off a poor effort. With Patrik Laine unable to find his game, Jack Roslovic has been getting top power play minutes with Winnipeg’s first line and Dustin Byfuglien. Ottawa’s 3.65 goals allowed per game on the road is the worst mark in the National Hockey League. Roslovic is a core cash game play at his price tag given the matchup.
This line should dominate from puck drop
Ottawa has been one of the worst defensive teams all season long. They own a league worst GA/60 at 3.18, and CA/60 of 66.66. Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, and Kyle Connor all play together on the team’s top power-play unit and should have no problem finding the back of the net tonight against this porous Ottawa team. Dustin Byfuglien is an elite play in all formats and correlates on the top power-play unit with all three forwards.

Evander Kane has five goals and two assists in his last four games. Including two goals against the Canucks on Monday where we seen San Jose put up seven goals. San Jose currently has the second highest xGF/60 in the NHL. Kane, Tomas Hertl, and Joonas Donskoi all play together on the second line. With last change, I expect this line stack to avoid the talented first line of Vancouver. On the blue line I would try to add Brent Burns to the stack. While only correlating with Hertl on the top power-play unit, Burns has been logging huge minutes with Erik Karlsson being sidelined due to injury.

Artemi Panarin, Cam Atkinson, and Pierre-Luc Dubois will travel to Chicago to face the rejuvenated Blackhawks tonight. While Chicago has been hot and popular in DFS, I am looking at both teams in this one. Columbus may go under owned in a great spot. Despite the probability of facing Chicago’s top line, the Blue Jacket’s top line has multi goal upside. We know Chicago has not been stellar in defense/goaltending this year. In the past 30 days Chicago owns the highest HDCA/60 at 14.87. Expect Panarin and company to see convert on some of these chances. Adding Zach Werenski to the stack gives you a full power-play stack as well.

There are a few decent plays if you are looking for a late hammer to put you over the top in the wee hours of the morning. Elias Pettersen and Brock Boeser could be in play on the road against San Jose or maybe you think that the Boston top line will do some damage in Los Angeles after coming up empty in a 3-0 win in Anaheim last night. Either line of thinking is fine here but I think the best bet lies within the top line of the Nashville Predators. Viktor Arvidsson skates with Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg skate on that top line that has seen Arvidsson score a team leading 26 goals in just 36 games. Normally we’d like to stay away from anyone playing in Vegas but the Golden Knights haven’t been playing well in front of the home crowd as they have dropped five straight when playing in the desert.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will look to improve on their Atlantic Division leading record of 43-11-4 in front of the home fans tonight. Speaking of home ice advantage, the Lightning have only loss five games all season when they play in their own building so look for that trend to continue as well. Point makes for a decent play here as he comes into this one with 33 goals and 41 points while skating with Nikita Kucherov on the team’s top line. As we all know Kucherov leads the league with 92 points but we can’t discount Point here as he comes in ranked as the leagues seventh best scorer.
