Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.282 (Rank: 25) — Strikeout Rate: 23.1% (Rank: 25)
Pitchers per PA: 3.83 (Rank: 12)
Analysis: Try as he might, Wood has not been able to recover his 2014 form this season. He has struggled over the last month of play, posting a 4.08 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 18.6%. He draws a difficult matchup tonight against the Orioles in Camden Yards. While the Orioles may not have the best offensive numbers against southpaws, but they have a lot of power in their lineup and they are a good hitting team at home. Even though starting pitching is a joke tonight, Wood is still an easy one to avoid in all league formats.
Pitcher Rating:61.1
Kevin Gausman : FD: $6,000 — DK: $4,300
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 146.1 — SIERA: 4.06 — ERA: 3.94 — K%: 18.9% — BB%: 7.9% — HR/9: 0.7

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.259 (Rank: 29) — Strikeout Rate: 22.8% (Rank: 23)
Pitchers per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 18)
Analysis: Gausman is a very interesting value pitcher tonight. There aren’t any clear choices at the position, which leaves us with a number of different routes that we can take. His ERA may suggest another story, but Gausman has pitched well recently with a 3.77 SIERA and a strikeout rate of 21.1%. He is one of the biggest favorites on the board tonight, as he faces a Braves’ offense that is ranked 22nd in team wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. At his price, he could be an extremely cheap source to pick up a win.

Atlanta
Freddie Freeman is back in the Braves’ lineup, which should help bolster their offense immediately. While Atlanta fans have to be happy about that, he’s really the only threat in their lineup right now. He deserves a look tonight against Kevin Gausman, who has given up a .323 wOBA to left-handed hitters over the last two seasons. The rest of the Braves’ offense can be avoided.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.265 (Rank: 28) — Strikeout Rate: 22.7% (Rank: 22)
Pitchers per PA: 3.85 (Rank: 10)
Analysis: Sanchez has not been sharp recently, posting a 4.42 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 18.8% and a walk rate of 9.7%. He has the right matchup to get back on track tonight though, as the Rays are ranked 29th in team wOBA and 26th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. The biggest issue here is his salary. He is over $10,000 on DraftKings, which is too expensive for a pitcher that has been struggling to find his form. There are better and safer pitching options tonight.
Pitcher Rating:66.0
Nate Karns : FD: $7,600 — DK: $8,700

Pitchers per PA: 3.84 (Rank: 11)
Analysis: Karns has pitched well over the last two seasons with a 3.73 SIERA and a strikeout rate of 22.9%. The good news is that he doesn’t have to face Miguel Cabrera tonight. The bad news is that he has to face the rest of the Tigers’ offense. On the season, Detroit is ranked third in team wOBA and 12th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. The price point is more appealing than that of his pitching counterpart, but I’m not sure that I will have any exposure to Karns tonight.

Detroit
The Tigers are one of the best hitting teams against right-handed pitching this season, but they draw a mediocre matchup against Nate Karns in the pitcher-friendly Tropicana Field. Since the start of the 2014 season, Karns has held left and right-handed hitters under a .305 wOBA. The Tigers should be considered secondary fantasy options tonight.

The Rays are small favorites tonight at home, but the total for the game is set at only 7.0 runs. They draw a decent matchup against Anibal Sanchez, who has really struggled over the last month of play. Analysis: Danks has thrown shutouts in three of his last four starts. They weren’t complete game shutouts, but that’s still impressive coming from one of our favorite pitchers to stack against. Even though he has been better recently, his indicators suggest that he has basically been the same pitcher, as he has a 4.40 SIERA and a strikeout rate of 18.4% over the last month of play. He draws a tough matchup tonight against the Red Sox, who strikeout at a low rate and take a lot of pitches. Give the edge to Boston in this matchup.

Analysis: Kelly has been an average pitcher over the last two seasons, posting a 4.26 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 17.1%. While he does draw a favorable matchup against the White Sox, he is not on my radar tonight. He doesn’t provide the type of strikeout potential that I’m looking for and he has to pitch in the hitter-friendly Fenway Park. I’d rather take my chances with Kevin Gausman at this price point.

The White Sox see a favorable ballpark shift tonight, as they square off against Joe Kelly in the hitter-friendly Fenway Park. The Red Sox have one of the best matchups on the board tonight. As I mentioned above, we shouldn’t buy into John Danks recent hot stretch, as the indicators suggest that he has been the same pitcher that we have seen all season. Analysis: Volquez is coming off of a terrific outing against the Pirates, where he struck out eight batters over seven and two-third innings. He has a more difficult matchup tonight though, as the Indians strikeout at a low rate and take a lot of pitches. After his recent start, Volquez is a little overpriced for a pitcher with a strikeout rate of 17.6% over the last two seasons. He’s not the worst pitching option on the board, but there are better plays for both cash games and tournaments.

Analysis: I like to compare Anderson to Chi Chi Gonzalez. Both players had terrific starts in their first few outings, but both pitcher’s indicators didn’t exactly bode well for their future. On the season, Anderson’s SIERA is a full two and a half runs higher than his ERA. He also has one of the lowest strikeout rates of any starting pitcher at only 9.6%. Regression is going to hit hard soon and I don’t want to be on the Anderson bandwagon when it happens. He can safely be avoided tonight against the Royals.

The Indians draw a mediocre matchup against Edinson Volquez, who has held left and right-handed hitters under a .300 wOBA over the last two seasons. Chicago Cubs Offense (2015)
vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.312 (Rank: 10) — Strikeout Rate: 23.3% (Rank: 24)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.280 (Rank: 26) — Strikeout Rate: 25.4% (Rank: 28)
Pitchers per PA: 3.99 (Rank: 1)
Analysis: De La Rosa has pitched well recently with a 3.71 SIERA and a strikeout rate of 24.4% over the last month of play. He draws a plus-matchup tonight against the Cubs, who have the seventh-highest strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season. De La Rosa is probably a bit underpriced thanks to the fact that half of his starts are in Coors Field, but it’s hard to justify targeting a pitcher that is such a large underdog. It won’t hurt to fade De La Rosa tonight, but he may be worth a look as a deep tournament play.

Kyle Hendricks : FD: $7,300 — DK: $8,200

Colorado Rockies Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.338 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 19.7% (Rank: 15)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.345 (Rank: 2) — Strikeout Rate: 19.4% (Rank: 10)
Pitchers per PA: 3.75 (Rank: 22)
Analysis: Hendricks has been absolutely terrific in his recent outings, posting a 2.90 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 24.2% over the last month of play. The best part is that his price has not caught up to his recent level of production. He is one of the best values on the board tonight. He does draw a difficult matchup against the Rockies, but they are a different team offensively away from Coors. I see Hendricks as more of an SP2 tonight, but I wouldn’t completely rule him out on single-pitcher sites either.
Pitcher Rating:80.5

Colorado
The Rockies go from the best hitters park in baseball to Wrigley Field, where the wind is blowing in from center field. This is expected to be a low-scoring game and their matchup against Kyle Hendricks is a difficult one. Since the start of the 2014 season, Hendricks has held left and right-handed hitters under a .300 wOBA.

Chicago Cubs
The Cubs draw a decent matchup tonight against Jorge De La Rosa, who has given up a .330 wOBA to right-handed hitters over the last two seasons. De La Rosa has been effective against hitters from the left side of the plate though, so make sure to only target the right-handed bats in the Cubs’ lineup tonight.
