Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.273 (Rank: 29) — Strikeout Rate: 18.5% (Rank: 10)
Pitchers per PA: 3.96 (Rank: 2)
Analysis: Quintana has been very sharp in his recent outings, posting a 2.52 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 24.1% over the last month of play. His matchup against the Red Sox may seem a bit scary, but it’s actually a lot better than you would think. Boston is ranked 22nd in team wOBA against right-handed pitching and 29th in team wOBA over the last 14 days of play. I won’t be using Quintana in cash games, but he makes a nice contrarian play in tournaments.
Pitcher Rating:63.3

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.321 (Rank: 13) — Strikeout Rate: 24.4% (Rank: 26)
Pitchers per PA: 3.76 (Rank: 21)
Analysis: The White Sox offense has had their way with the Red Sox pitching staff in this series and I’m not sure Porcello is going to be the one that bucks the trend. He has been an average pitcher over the last two seasons, posting a 3.88 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 16.5%. He may be a small favorite here, but there is little fantasy appeal. He can be avoided in all league formats.

Chicago White Sox
The White Sox draw another favorable matchup tonight against Rick Porcello in the hitter-friendly Fenway Park. Porcello hasn’t been particularly effective against hitters from either side of the plate. Jose Abreu and Tyler Saladino are both strong plays at their respective positions, while Melky Cabrera and Adam Eaton also deserve a look.

Boston
The Red Sox draw a fairly difficult matchup tonight against Jose Quintana, who has really pitched well recently. You may look at the high team total and think that they are a good team to target tonight, but the splits aren’t as favorable as the Vegas line. Quintana has held left and right-handed hitters under a .310 wOBA over the last two seasons.

Analysis: Now that Clayton Kershaw has been scratched, Tanaka steps in as the highest rated pitcher on the board tonight. He has been good, but not great recently with a 3.24 SIERA and a strikeout rate of 23.1% over the last month of play. He draws a tough matchup against the Rangers in Globe Life Park, but it’s hard to argue against the play, as there are very few pitching options that stand out tonight.

Analysis: The Yankees are fresh off of a 21-run performance last night. At this point, we shouldn’t even consider taking a pitcher against them, especially since this game is being played in a hitter-friendly ballpark. Lewis has been one of the most hittable pitchers in baseball over the last few seasons and he should be avoided in all league formats.

NY Yankees
The Yankees are one of the best offensive teams against right-handed pitching in baseball. They have talent up and down their lineup. They should be one of the top offenses on your radar tonight, as Colby Lewis has given up a .331+ wOBA to left and right-handed hitters over the last two seasons.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.348 (Rank: 4) — Strikeout Rate: 16.5% (Rank: 3)
Pitchers per PA: 3.86 (Rank: 9)
Analysis: Richards has pitched well recently, but he has yet to regain that elite strikeout rate that he had last season. He draws an interesting matchup tonight against the Astros. On the one hand, Houston strikes out at a higher rate than any other team in baseball against right-handed. On the other hand, they are ranked ninth in team wOBA against righties. The upside is there, but so is the risk. For that reason, he is a better target for tournaments than he is for cash games.

Pitchers per PA: 3.77 (Rank: 20)
Analysis: McCullers has pitched well in his rookie season, posting a 3.47 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 25.5%. He still walks a few too many batters, but the high strikeout rate more than makes up for it. The biggest question tonight is whether or not Mike Trout is going to be in the lineup. If he is, then we can avoid McCullers. If he is out, McCullers is worth a look in tournaments.

The Reds don’t strikeout at a high rate, but Lackey should have plenty of run support tonight with Anthony Desclafani pitching opposite him. He may not have a ton of upside, but he has a high floor, which can be said about very few pitchers tonight.

The Reds draw a fairly tough matchup against John Lackey, who has held left and right-handed hitters under a .315 wOBA over the last two seasons. Analysis: I was really hoping to have Clayton Kershaw on the mound tonight, but his hip has been bothering him, so he will not start tonight’s game. Bolsinger will get the nod for the Dodgers. He has been a very solid pitcher over the last two seasons, posting a 3.47 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 21.3%. He draws a tough matchup against the A’s though, who have the third-lowest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. He has a good chance to pick up the win, but like John Lackey, his upside is a bit limited in his matchup.

Oakland
The A’s are a difficult team to strikeout, but their offense has been ice cold recently. They are ranked 27th in team wOBA over the last 14 days. Mike Bolsinger has had his struggles with left-handed hitters though, making Josh Reddick and Stephen Vogt decent secondary plays.

LA Dodgers
The Dodgers are large favorites tonight at home, as they square off against Jesse Chavez. Chavez has given up a much higher wOBA to left-handed hitters than he has to right-handed hitters. Adrian Gonzalez, Yasmani Grandal, and Joc Pederson are all in play.
