Monday’s PHI-NYM game postponed due to inclement weather
The matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets on Monday night has been postponed due to inclement weather. The two teams have already announced that today’s game will be rescheduled for July 9th as part of a single-admission doubleheader with the first game beginning at 4:15 pm EST.

When choosing which team to stack it’s not just important that the team you stack scores runs (duh) but it’s also important how the team scores those runs. When stacking we’re looking for big events that get you the most points possible, like home runs and stolen bases. The Astros are a great team to stack because not only do they score runs but they do so by hitting HRs and stealing bases. Chris Tillman was beyond terrible in 2017 and possibly more importantly is the fact that he has been equally as bad versus righties (.336 wOBA, 4.52 xFIP) as he has lefties (.326 wOBA, 4.54 xFIP) over the course of his career.

Schebler has been scratched from the Cincinnati Reds original confirmed lineup and will not play in Monday’s matchup with the Chicago Cubs due right elbow soreness. He’ll be replaced in the batting order by Adam Duvall, who will slot directly into Schebler’s sixth spot in the order but will play left field, sliding Jesse Winker over to right. However, the remainder of the Reds lineup stays intact as they face off with Tyler Chatwood this afternoon.

There are “better” stacks out there on Monday night but the Dodgers have one thing going for them that those other stacks don’t: leverage on a chalk pitcher. Monday’s pitching options are slim, making the otherwise GPP only Taijuan Walker a likely popular choice. That means a couple of things – 1) Dodgers hitters could have an ownership discount 2) Dodgers success means Walker’s failure – i.e. if Dodgers bats do go off, you’ll eliminate 30% (?) of the field that rostered Walker in the meantime. Add in Walker’s HR problems (career 13.1% HR to flyball ratio) and the Dodgers come out as one of my favorite GPP stacks of the night, humidor be darned.

People don’t like playing guys hitting down in the order, and it’s always nice getting hitters low owned in good spots. Ahmed should hit six or seventh tonight, and draws a matchup against Ryu. In 53 at bats against lefties since the start of last season, he has a 1.173 OPS with a .283 ISO. It’s a small sample size, but it’s not worth overlooking at this price. Ryu had a 1.33 HR/9 against right-handed hitters last season, and allowed a high 37.3% hard contact rate. He’s not a bad pitcher, but he tends to struggle with the long ball.
Low Owned Value Option
I love looking for low owned value options, and Preston Tucker is the guy I’m looking at tonight. He’s been off and on in the Major Leagues since 2015. He spent the entire 2017 season in AAA for the Astros, and now has a chance to do some damage with the Braves. He had a .215 ISO in AAA last season and has a career ISO over .200 against righties in the Majors. He’s five for ten to start the season and has a good matchup against Roark. Roark had a 1.63 WHIP with a .356 wOBA against left-handed hitters last season.
Cheaper Option In An Elite Stack
Boston is a top two offense for me on tonight’s slate and Devers is cheap. He’s been a really tough hitter to figure out, but he’s an extremely talented young player. Since being called up last season, Devers posted a .193 ISO with a 35% hard contact rate against right-handed pitching. Trevor Richards will be making his Major League debut tonight, and this will be his first appearance above double A. He’s an unproven young pitcher, and I’m taking advantage of the Red Sox bats.
Massive Upside At This DraftKings Price
Smoak is coming off a big game yesterday and draws another great matchup tonight. In a small sample size last season, Lopez allowed a .338 wOBA with a 10.8% strikeout rate against left-handed hitters. He allowed six home runs in 23 innings against left-handed hitters. His Minor League numbers suggest he’s more of a fly ball pitcher as well. Since the start of 2017, Smoak has posted a .276 ISO with a 40.5% hard contact rate against right-handed pitching. He has a lot of upside at this price, and I’m considering him in all formats on DraftKings tonight.
Take Advantage On FanDuel
People often overlook someone when they play on both sites, and the player is a lot more expensive on one of the sites. Davidson is 4k on DraftKings, but he’s only 3k on FanDuel tonight. Since the start of 2017, Davidson has a .252 ISO with a 35.4% hard contact rate against left-handed pitching. Garcia allowed a .333 wOBA against right-handed hitters last season, and a 31.8% hard contact rate with a .175 ISO.
Huge Power Against Low K Pitcher
There will be very few days when a hitter like Olson, with his high strikeout risk qualifies as a Core Play. But with Bartolo Colon back on the mound, this is the ideal matchup for a hitter like Olson. Colon struck out just 13.3% of lefties last season while allowing 1.83 HR/9 on 41% hard hits. Olson’s .434 ISO against righties shows his immense upside. I still don’t love Olson in cash games, but recommend high GPP exposure here.
High On Base Floor with Plenty of Upside
As bad as Tillman was against right-handed batters, it got even worse against lefties with an absurd 10.8% K rate and 19.2% walks which led to an eye-popping 7.12 xFIP against lefties. With Josh Reddick already carrying elite on base skills, his floor is extremely high tonight and he has plenty of upside if he sees a pitch to hit. This salary is way too low for the matchup.
Load Up Against This Pitcher
Baltimore’s Chris Tillman was awful in 2017, and has a long history of allowing right-handed power. This Houston team should be all over the scoreboard tonight. I’ll start with Jose Altuve, who has no weakness in his game. He makes contact, he hits for power, he has speed, and contributes in every category. In 2017, he posted a .408 OBP and .403 wOBA against right-handed pitching.
The Only Trustable Pitcher Tonight
This is an ugly night for pitching. There are some long shots worth a dart throw, but Morton is the only guy who qualifies as a Core Play. It’s not an ideal matchup for upside, but with high ground balls and soft contact to right-handed batters, he should be able to find some easy outs tonight. And when he faces a lefty, Morton sees his strikeout rate rise to 32.8%. Morton is the only pitcher on this slate who had a SIERA under 4.00 last season, and the first guy I’ll plug into my lineups.
Monday’s TB-NYY game postponed due to inclement weather
The matchup between the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees on Monday afternoon has been postponed due to inclement weather. The two teams have already announced that today’s game will be rescheduled for Tuesday at 4:00 pm ET.
As reported by: Bruce Beck via TwitterRain/snow in WSH-CIN the main concern in updated MLB weather forecast
In Kevin Roth’s updated MLB weather forecast, the game with the highest delay and possible postponement risks comes is in Cincinnati for the matchup between the Nationals and Reds, where it is currently classified as YELLOW/ORANGE due to the increasing chances of rain and snow as the game progresses. There has already been one postponement for today’s slate of games, as the matchup between the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals was called prior to first-pitch and has been rescheduled for later in the month as part of a day-night doubleheader. That being said, be sure to check out the full updated forecast on the MLB Weather page linked below for all your weather-based daily fantasy needs.
