This center has had an offensive coming-out-party this season
Tomas Hertl is second on the San Jose Sharks in goals (32) and second on the team in points (64), despite missing 5 games. He’s expected to centre the second line with Evander Kane and Joonas Donskoi on his wings. The Sharks have been hit with injuries and a bout of the flu which has taken some of their key players out of the mix. It is uncertain which players will be in the lineup tonight so be sure to follow closely. If this line remains in-tact, they make for a great line stack against an Anaheim Ducks team that has struggled all season long.

It is a two game slate, so that is why we have any consideration for the Anaheim Ducks. The “second” line is probably the one that is of a bit of interest with Devin Shore centering Rickard Rakell and Jakob Silfverberg. Silfverberg has 6 goals and 10 points in 11 March games for the Ducks, both of which lead the team. The Ducks are hosting the San Jose Sharks tonight — a team that is on the tail-end of a back to back and has been hit with a mixture of injuries and flu-bugs. Both Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski missed last nights game, along with Erik Karlsson. All of these missing players plus the fact that it’s a back to back means the Ducks could be able to actually put up some goals.

Nicklas Backstrom was centering Alex Ovechkin and Tom Wilson by the end of last game and it seems like they’ll be together again tonight. Washington has been great as of late as their 56.41 CF% ranks third over the last month and their 62.63 CF/60 ranks fifth. Tonight they host a Minnesota Wild team that is fighting for a playoff birth. This makes for a great line stack with Ovechkin and Backstrom as an intriguing two-man stack as they play on the top power play unit together with Wilson playing on the second unit.

Carl Hagelin has 8 points (3G, 5A) in just 13 games for the Capitals which matches his total in 38 games between the Penguins and Kings earlier this season. Washington’s third line of Lars Eller, Brett Connolly and Hagelin have shown strong chemistry this month. Last time out, Hagelin buried a goal and an assist against Andrei Vasilevskiy and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Hagelin does not see power play time, but at just $2,800 on DraftKings on a two game slate with Brent Burns and Alex Ovechkin, Hagelin makes a lot of sense.
Netminder has massive upside against slumping team
The Sharks have dropped four straight as they have struggled to overcome injuries to Erik Karlsson. Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture are the latest who have missed action. Last night the Sharks were upset by the Kings 4-2 as Los Angeles’ top line sparked a third period rally. Gibson checks in at $7,100 on DraftKings and should see a good number of shots in this favorable spot as the Sharks are averaging the fourth-most shots on goal per game (33.4 GF/G). Gibson is a strong pivot from Holtby in tournaments.
This winger is healthy again and in a premium matchup
Despite missing 16 games this season, David Pastrnak is tied for the team lead in goals with 31. The Boston Bruins are one of the best possession teams in the NHL and their top line is arguably the best line in the NHL. Pastrnak plays with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand and the three also play on the top power play unit together. This gives them elite upside as they have full-game correlation. The Bruins possession numbers are dominant with a 56.39 CF% over the last month — second best in the league.

Obviously Nikita Kucherov has been dominant this season, but it is Aleksander Barkov that has put up the most points in the last month. His 25 points in 15 games is the most among all players in the last month, though it is not the most points per game — second to Connor McDavid. The Florida Panthers are hosting an Arizona Coyotes team that continues to find ways to win despite their possession numbers being subpar at best. The Coyotes have had a 45.49 CF% over the last month which ranks 25th and a 63.88 CA/60 which is the 3rd-worst in the NHL. Barkov centres Jonathan Huberdeau and Evgenii Dadonov on the Panthers top line and they should be able to take advantage of the poor possession Coyotes on home ice. The trio play on the top power play unit together giving them full-game correlation and elite upside.

Matthew Tkachuk is having a fantastic season but it has often been overlooked by the fact that Johnny Gaudreau has been one of the best offensive players in the NHL. However, Tkachuk has 33 goals, 41 assists and 74 points in 73 games — all of which are career highs. His 9 goals in the last month are tied for second among all NHLers and he has done his damage away from the teams top players, as he has been situation on the second line — albeit the top power play unit — for the majority of the season. A home matchup against the Ottawa Senators who are on the tail-end of a back to back and have allowed 34 goals in their last 10 games seems like a great spot to continue his goal-scoring ways. Unfortunately, neither of his linemates — Mikael Backlund and Michael Frolik — play on the power play with him, but he’s still a great play and the line stack is in an elite matchup.

With Torey Krug injured, Charlie McAvoy is in a prime spot to flourish. McAvoy was already logging heavy minutes for Boston, but now he has the advantage of taking Torey Krug’s spot on the top power play. With David Pastrnak back in the mix, Boston’s power play should see their production skyrocket. A matchup with New Jersey tonight is one to exploit, even though they’re on the road. McAvoy checks in at under $5,000 on both DraftKings and FanDuel which gives him appeal in all formats as Charlie has picked up six points over his last seven games.
All aboard the Wayne Train
Wayne Simmonds picked up his first goal as a Nashville Predator last time out, and it could be a sign of things to come for the long time Flyer, who will take on a familiar foe in the Pittsburgh Penguins. Simmonds checks in under $4,000 on both DraftKings and FanDuel and though he is not the scorer he once was, rolling out Wayne as a one-off in tournaments seems worthwhile in this plus matchup on home ice. Nashville is playing solid hockey at the moment and Wayne’s goal last time out should give him confidence tonight against a Penguins’ team that is average at best away from home.
Cold snap offers buy-low opportunity on top line center
Columbus’ top line has not put up some of the gaudy games we saw from them earlier in the season, but tonight is a good night to take a shot. Dubois’ price ($4,300) on DraftKings really stands out in a plus matchup against an Edmonton team which has allowed 21 goals over their last four games. Dubois has been productive after the All-Star break overall, even with the arrival of Matt Duchene, as he has 26 points (10G, 16A) in 33 games while logging over 17 minutes of ice time. However, Pierre has really been quiet this month, going pointless in 10 games. He is a fine tournament target alongside Artemi Panarin, whose price has come down having not scored a goal yet this month.
Rookie blue liner draws one of the best matchup for defensemen
Rasmus Dahlin ended his March woes by picking up a point last time out. It ended an eight game scoreless streak for the talented youngster. Dahlin is seeing north of 20 minutes of ice time as well as time on the top power play time. With Toronto back to back and really struggling defensively lately, the Sabres have a lot of upside tonight at reasonable price tags. Toronto in general bleeds points to defensemen which gives Dahlin a reasonable baseline in this plus matchup on home ice.
Cheap winger gets exposure to one of the top lines of the night
Josh Leivo continues to log consistent minutes and though the gaudy point totals quite haven’t been there, Leivo is a cheap way to gain exposure to Vancouver’s explosive line with Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson. Ottawa has been obliterated on the road (3.64 GA/G) all season long and Vancouver’s second line figures to get the Senators’ weaker depth lines. Leivo and company are a great target in all formats.
Back to the well with top liner
J.T. Miller was one of the few Tampa Bay lightning in their top-six to get involved last time out as he assisted on Steven Stamkos’ first period goal. Miller’s price across the industry is attractive given his role on the team’s top power play against a Washington team which has been short-handed the second most number of times in the National Hockey League. Though the Lightning have locked up the President’s Trophy, there is no doubt this game has a little extra importance to them as the Capitals ousted them in seven games during last season’s playoffs. Miller is a cheap way to gain exposure to the best team in the league.
This winger has an elite matchup against a tired team
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been struggling mightily over the last 10 days. They have allowed 26 goals over their last 5 games, being outscored 26-15 which is a nightmare. Tonight is not necessarily even a guarantee that the Leafs can turn things around against the Buffalo Sabres. The Leafs played better last night in a low-event game, but they’ll be tired tonight. The top line for the Buffalo Sabres is stacked and is really their only good line. Jeff Skinner, Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart make up the top line and it remains in tact on the Sabres top power play unit. While neither the Sabres power play nor the Leafs penalty kill stand out one way or another, having the full-game correlation is an elite upside play for this line.
