Analysis: Happ is one of the many pitchers that is far off of my radar tonight. He has pitched well recently, but the Cardinals are a formidable opponent, even though their numbers against southpaws this season aren’t great. Happ is cheap, but he is a sizable underdog tonight on the road. He is a tournament play at best tonight.
Pitcher Rating: 58.0
Carlos Martinez : FD: $9,900 — DK: $10,100

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.318 (Rank: 19) — Strikeout Rate: 20.3% (Rank: 17)
Pitches per PA: 3.80 (Rank: 18)
Analysis: Martinez has pitched well over the last month of play, posting a 3.20 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.0%. He draws a favorable matchup tonight against the Pirates, who are ranked 16th in team wOBA and 20th in strikeout rate. If he can pitch around the left-handed bats of Gregory Polanco and Neil Walker, he should be in for another quality outing tonight. Martinez doesn’t have the highest upside on the board, but he is certainly playable at home.

Analysis: Perez has pitched well over the last month of play, posting a 3.25 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 15.8%. The problem is that he doesn’t strikeout enough hitters to warrant fantasy consideration. He can safely be avoided tonight against the Angels, who have the fifth-lowest strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season.

He draws a tough matchup tonight against the Rangers, but at least he gets to face them at home. While I won’t be targeting Richards in cash games, he is an appealing tournament play because he can have those huge outings and his price is more than reasonable on both FanDuel and DraftKings.

The Rangers are a team that is easy to avoid on the road, especially when they are playing in pitcher-friendly ballparks. Mike Bolsinger : FD: $6,300 — DK: $8,100
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 141.1 — SIERA: 3.63 — ERA: 3.82 — K%: 20.9% — BB%: 8.0% — HR/9: 0.6
San Diego Padres Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.300 (Rank: 26) — Strikeout Rate: 21.4% (Rank: 23)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.333 (Rank: 9) — Strikeout Rate: 19.3% (Rank: 12)
Pitches per PA: 3.83 (Rank: 13)
Analysis: Bolsinger will be making his first start in over a month, as he was optioned to Triple-A. The Dodgers have called him up to start tonight’s game against the Padres, who have been much better offensively over the last few weeks. While Bolsinger does see a favorable ballpark boost in Petco Park, he isn’t really on my radar tonight. I would only consider him an SP2 and he’s a little too expensive on DraftKings.
Pitcher Rating: 60.2
James Shields : FD: $8,800 — DK: $8,700
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 398.1 — SIERA: 3.54 — ERA: 3.46 — K%: 21.9% — BB%: 6.3% — HR/9: 1.1
Last 30 Days: IP: 37.2 — SIERA: 3.92 — ERA: 3.82 — K%: 22.4% — BB%: 8.7% — HR/9: 1.2
Los Angeles Dodgers Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.322 (Rank: 3) — Strikeout Rate: 20.5% (Rank: 19)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.260 (Rank: 30) — Strikeout Rate: 23.5% (Rank: 23)
Pitches per PA: 3.89 (Rank: 5)
Analysis: Shields has been in good form recently, posting a 3.92 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.4% over the last month of play. While he does offer good upside at the price, I’m not sold on his matchup against the Dodgers. On the season, Los Angeles is ranked third in team wOBA against right-handed pitching.
Pitcher Rating: 72.6

LA Dodgers
The Dodgers draw a mediocre matchup tonight against James Shields. While I don’t like any of their bats as elite plays, Adrian Gonzalez is worth a look at his depressed price point. Shields has given up a .334 wOBA to left-handed hitters over the last two seasons.

San Diego
The Padres’ offense has been better recently, but they are still the Padres. They draw a mediocre matchup tonight against Mike Bolsinger, who has given up a .343 wOBA to left-handed hitters. Cory Spangenberg is the only option on my radar in this one.
