Wei-Yin Chen

Chen is making the start tonight for the Orioles and has been in poor form recently. Over the last month, Chen has 4.35 SIERA with a low 14% strikeout rate. He has a tough matchup against the Rays who are much better against left-handed pitching. He is an easy avoid tonight. Rating = 5

Erasmo Ramirez

Erasmo pitched great in his last start, and has a SIERA of 3.59 over the last month. Yet, he does not exactly put up the numbers needed to be a fantasy starter for fantasy, especially in a tough matchup against the Orioles who are ranked fourth in the league against right-handed pitching (.323 team wOBA). The upside here is the Orioles do strikeout at a high 22.2% rate, which could put Ramirez in play, but a risky one tonight. Rating = 6

Ramirez has shut down lefties this year (.245 wOBA), yet has really struggled against righties (.340 wOBA). Adam Jones and Manny Machado are elite plays, while Chris Davis is still a great play at the first base position.

Volquez has had a solid season as he comes into this game with a 3.85 SIERA. Yet, he lacks the upside tonight as he also has a 17.6% strikeout rate on the year and faces a tough Detroit squad. He is an avoid tonight. Rating = 5

Boyd is an easy player to avoid as he brings his 8+ ERA into this matchup with the Royals who are tough on DFS pitchers. Keep looking for a different starter in all formats. Rating = 3.5

Boyd has been crushed by batters from both sides of the plate (.396 wOBA + from both sides). This Royals offense is a nice one to target as their team total sits at 4.46 in this matchup. Check the status on Cain tonight as he has sat the last two games without any apparent injury.

Rodon has had a much better season recently.. Over the last 30 days (four starts), Rodon has a 3.80 SIERA and a solid 23.8% strikeout rate. He does have a difficult matchup against the Indians who are ranked 11th in team wOBA against lefties. Also, run support will be difficult against Carrasco, which makes Rodon a tournament play only with a bit of risk attached. Rating = 5

Carlos Carrasco

Carrasco struggled in his first start back from injury, but rebounded well in his last start. He will look to keep the momentum going against a White Sox squad that is ranked 23rd in the league against righties. Carrasco has been a great fantasy pitcher as he comes into this game with a season long 2.86 SIERA and high 28.2% strikeout rate. He makes for a solid play tonight under the top play Kershaw. Rating = 8
