Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.371 (Rank: 2) — Strikeout Rate: 24.6% (Rank: 29)
Pitchers per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 21)
Analysis: Hopefully this pitching duel lives up to the hype. Two of the best pitchers in baseball square off tonight in Chicago. Archer will be on the mound for the Rays and he comes into tonight’s game in great form, posting a 2.75 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 30.1% over the last month of play. While the White Sox have been scoring runs in bunches recently, they are still only ranked 20th in team wOBA and 19th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. The only concern with Archer tonight is run support. He’s a small underdog with Chris Sale pitching opposite him.
Pitcher Rating:85.4
Chris Sale : FD: $11,500 — DK: $12,000
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 311.2 — SIERA: 2.48 — ERA: 2.63 — K%: 31.1% — BB%: 5.2% — HR/9: 0.7

Tampa Bay Rays Offense (2015)
vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.321 (Rank: 6) — Strikeout Rate: 21.7% (Rank: 17)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.327 (Rank: 10) — Strikeout Rate: 21.8% (Rank: 19)
Pitchers per PA: 3.85 (Rank: 10)
Analysis: Sale has given up a few runs in his recent starts, which has actually brought his price down a bit on both FanDuel adn DraftKings. Don’t let those runs fool you though, as his indicators still look great. Over the last month of play, he has a 2.83 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 24.7%. The Rays may hit left-handed pitching well as a team, but they haven’t faced many southpaws that are as talented as Sale. Sale is right there with Max Scherzer as the top pitching option on the board, although Scherzer does have a better chance of picking up the win.
Pitcher Rating:97.6

Chris Sale has held left and right-handed hitters under a .275 wOBA and he strikes out nearly a third of the batters that he faces. The Rays’ offense can be avoided tonight.

This game is expected to be a pitcher’s duel and with a game in Coors Field, there is no reason to target any White Sox hitters tonight. Chris Archer has held left and right-handed hitters under a .285 wOBA over the last two seasons.

Analysis: Cashner has not been sharp in his recent outings, posting a 4.54 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 15.4% over the last month of play. He draws a decent matchup tonight against the Brewers, but he has to face them in Miller Park. This game has a low run total, but neither pitcher really stands out as a viable fantasy option. There are better plays for both cash games and tournaments.

Analysis: Nelson has pitched well at home in his career, posting a 3.61 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 21.7%. He draws a nice matchup tonight against the Padres, who are ranked 26th in both team wOBA and strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Nelson’s price has come up a bit across the industry, but he’s a viable tournament play and even a borderline SP2 tonight on multi-pitcher sites.

The Padres put up a big outing last night, but they are the Padres and they are still one of the worst offenses in baseball. If you are targeting any hitters in their lineup tonight, target the ones that can hit from the left side of the plate. Analysis: Carrasco may have a 4.50 ERA over the last month of play, but his SIERA is nearly two full runs lower than that during that stretch. He has good upside at his price point and he draws a decent matchup against the Angels, who are ranked right around the major league average in both team wOBA and strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Carrasco will fly under the radar tonight, making him an intriguing tournament option.

Analysis: Shoemaker has pitched well recently, posting a 3.45 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 25.3% over the last month of play. He draws a decent matchup against the Indians, who have not hit the ball well recently. Additionally, he would see a small boost if Jason Kipnis is forced to miss another game. Shoemaker is cheap, he has decent strikeout potential, and he is a small favorite in a game that has a low run total. He’s not a bad play for the price.

Analysis: Bassitt has actually pitched pretty well recently, posting a 3.24 ERA (4.14 SIERA) with a strikeout rate of 16.5% over the last month of play. He draws a mediocre matchup tonight against the Orioles, who hit right-handed pitching well, but also strikeout at a high clip. Bassitt isn’t the worst play dollar for dollar, but he’s not a pitcher that is on my radar tonight. He can be avoided in all league formats.

Baltimore
The Orioles draw an average matchup tonight against Chris Bassitt, who has held left and right-handed hitters under a .315 wOBA over the last two seasons. The Orioles are in play here, but they are secondary fantasy options at their respective positions.

Oakland
The A’s are ranked dead last in team wOBA over the last 14 days of play. There has been little to no fantasy production coming out of this lineup. At this point, they should be considered secondary options at best tonight, as they face Miguel Gonzalez at home.
