Noah Syndergaard

Tampa Bay Rays vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.296 (Rank: 27)
Strikeout Rate: 22.2% (Rank: 28)

Syndergaard has been another solid cog in this Mets rotation. He has been great recently as he has not allowed more than two earned runs in his last seven starts, which has led to a SIERA of 2.84 during this span with a strikeout rate at a very high level of 27.7%. Noah gets a great matchup against the Rays who are in the bottom third of the league in strikeout rate and team wOBA against righties. Syndergaard is a top option if playable on your early slates today. Rating = 9

Salaries: $10,800 FD, $11,500 DK

Nate Karns

New York Mets vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.297 (Rank: 26)
Strikeout Rate: 20.3% (Rank: 19)

Karns has pitched well recently, posting a SIERA of 3.31 and a strikeout rate of 25% since the start of July. Karns has really improved his changeup this year, which has started to give him these big strikeout results. He has a great matchup against the Mets who have struggled against right-handed pitching all year long. Run support may be non-existent tonight, which does bring his win probability down, but he could be a good contrarian option. Rating = 6.5

Karns has pitched well this season and has held lefties and righties to a wOBA of .292. The Mets do have a couple lefties that have fared well this year, but are just secondary plays this afternoon.

Eddie Butler

Washington Nationals vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.310 (Rank:16)
Strikeout Rate: 21.2% (Rank: 20)

Butler is one of the worst starters going any time he takes the mound. He has a SIERA of over 5, a low strikeout rate of 11.8% and gives up home runs at a 1.56 HR/9 rate. Avoid him tonight. Rating = 3

Salaries: $4,700 FD, $4,300 DK

Stephen Strasburg

Colorado Rockies vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.345 (Rank: 1)
Strikeout Rate: 19.7% (Rank: 15)

Strasburg is coming off the DL after six weeks of sitting out with an oblique injury. Strasburg is a very tough pitcher to judge as he was all over the place in the games he has started this season. He now has to face a Rockies offense that is first in the league against right-handed pitching. He is safe to ignore tonight, until we see him pitch a game or two. Rating = 5

Salaries: $8,700 FD, $10,100 DK

Batter Grind Down

Hard to predict a Strasburg performance tonight, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him give up a few runs in his first game back.

Wade Miley

Detroit Tigers vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.339 (Rank: 2)
Strikeout Rate: 22.5% (Rank: 23)

Miley has continued to be an average pitcher for the Red Sox this season. He holds a SIERA of 4.40 with a below average strikeout rate of 16.9%. He has been susceptible to giving up some big outings and has a tough matchup against the Tigers who are ranked second in the league against lefties. Miley is safe to ignore against one of the top offenses on the slate. Rating = 4.5

Salaries: $7,400 FD, $6,300 DK

Alfredo Simon

Boston Red Sox vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.313 (Rank: 13)
Strikeout Rate: 16.7% (Rank: 2)

Simon has really struggled over the last two months. During this eight-game stretch, Simon has posted a SIERA of 4.98 while allowing eight home runs. He has a very tough assignment tonight against the Red Sox tonight and should be avoided in all formats. Rating = 3.5

Salaries: $7,400 FD, $6,400 DK

Simon has given up a lot of runs lately and this Boston lineup can still put them up in a hurry. Lefties have crushed Simon for a wOBA of .388 on the year, which puts Ortiz as a clear elite play.

Jeff Samardzija

Chicago White Sox vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.305 (Rank: 19)
Strikeout Rate: 20.5% (Rank: 20)

The Shark was hit hard in his last start against the Yankees when he allowed eight earned runs. He will look to bounce back in a tough matchup against the Royals, who he has a 6.23 ERA against in two starts this year. Samardzija is an average play tonight in this matchup. Rating = 5

Salaries: $9,200 FD, $8,600 DK

Jeremy Guthrie

Kansas City Royals vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.317 (Rank: 10)
Strikeout Rate: 16.0% (Rank: 1)

Guthrie is not in consideration in any type of daily fantasy format. He has a well below-average SIERA (5.04) on the year to go along with one of the lowest strikeout rates of any starter in baseball (11.6%). Avoid him today against the White Sox. Rating = 3.5

Salaries: $5,400 FD, $4,900 DK

Batter Grind Down

Chicago White Sox

At this point, you know the drill, attack lefties against Guthrie who has allowed a wOBA of .406 to left-handed bats on the year. All the bats are in play, but guys like Eaton and Cabrera make great plays tonight. Make sure to check lineups tonight as Eaton did leave last night’s game with a jammed shoulder.

Jaime Garcia

Milwaukee Brewers vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.284 (Rank: 26)
Strikeout Rate: 20.3% (Rank: 13)

Garcia has pitched well for the Cardinals after getting a late start to the season. After nine starts, Garcia comes into this game with a SIERA of 3.13 and an 18.6% strikeout rate. This Brewers squad has lost a big right-handed bat in Gomez and they have really not hit lefties well at all this year as they have a team wOBA of .284. Garcia is in play tonight in this matchup. Rating = 7

Salaries: $8,000 FD, $10,000 DK

Wily Peralta

St. Louis Cardinals vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.315 (Rank: 12)
Strikeout Rate: 19.0% (Rank: 9)

Peralta really struggled in his last start as he allowed six earned runs against the Padres. Peralta’s problem continues to be the long ball as he has a HR/9 of 1.28 this season. Add that to the fact that he is not a huge strikeout pitcher (14.6%) and we can safely avoid Peralta against the Cards who have a team wOBA of .315. Rating = 4

Salaries: $6,400 FD, $5,300 DK

Batter Grind Down

St. Louis

As touched on above, the long ball has been a bit of a problem for Peralta, which could lead to a nice stack of the Cardinals tonight who do have some guys that can take him deep. Peralta has allowed a wOBA of over .348 from both sides of the plate, putting a few of the Cardinals in play.
