Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.310 (Rank: 16) — Strikeout Rate: 20.2% (Rank: 17)
Pitchers per PA: 3.72 (Rank: 27)
Analysis: Martinez has been the ace of the Cardinals’ pitching staff this season. He has pitched well over the last month with a 3.10 SIERA and an impressive strikeout rate of 26.4%. He does struggle with his command at times, but the high strikeout rate more than makes up for it. He draws a favorable matchup tonight against the Marlins, who are ranked 27th in wOBA (.291) and 23rd in strikeout rate (20.6%) against right-handed pitching this season. Martinez has as much upside as the other aces on the mound tonight and he is considerably cheaper.
Pitcher Rating:80.3
Jose Urena : FD: $5,200 — DK: $4,200

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.348 (Rank: 6) — Strikeout Rate: 20.4% (Rank: 19)
Pitchers per PA: 3.77 (Rank: 19)
Analysis: Urena has struggled in his first season in the majors. He has a 4.75 SIERA with a very low strikeout rate of 9.8%. He draws a difficult matchup against the Cardinals, who are ranked 5th in wOBA (.328) and 7th in strikeout rate (18.8%) against right-handed pitching this season. Urena should be avoided in all league formats tonight.

Last 14 Days: PA: 46 — wOBA: 0.336 — ISO: 0.167 — wRC+: 115
Analysis: The sample size is still small, but Jose Urena has had some serious reverse-splits this season. He has given up a .352 wOBA to right-handed hitters, while holding left-handed hitters to a .301 wOBA. Peralta’s price is a little more expensive than I’d like to pay for him at shortstop, but he’s in a great spot tonight and the options at his position are fairly limited.

Carlos Martinez is incredibly effective against right-handed hitters, but he has struggled with those that hit from the left side of the plate. The left-handed bats from the Marlins are not elite plays, but they do deserve consideration as secondary options tonight at home.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.358 (Rank: 4) — Strikeout Rate: 16.0% (Rank: 3)
Pitchers per PA: 3.96 (Rank: 2)
Analysis: Jimenez has kept his high strikeout rate in recent starts, but he has given up a few more runs. Over the last month of play, he has a 3.64 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 23.2%. The big issue here is his matchup. The Red Sox are ranked 6th in wOBA (.324) and 1st in strikeout rate (15.9%) against right-handed pitching this season. There is more risk than potential reward with Jimenez tonight.

Analysis: After a great start to the season, Kelly has come crashing back down to Earth. Over the last month of play, he has a 4.30 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 15.9%. He draws a difficult matchup tonight against the Orioles, who are ranked 9th in wOBA (.322) against right-handed pitching and 1st in wOBA (.366) over the last 14 days. Now that the Orioles’ offense is healthy, we should avoid taking pitchers against them whenever possible.

Analysis: Machado may be the hottest hitter in baseball right now. Over the last 14 days, he has a .554 wOBA with a .340 ISO. He will look to continue that hot streak tonight against the struggling Joe Kelly in the hitter-friendly Fenway Park. This game is expected to be one of the highest scoring games of the night and the batters in this one it should be heavily targeted.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.333 (Rank: 11) — Strikeout Rate: 22.7% (Rank: 26)
Pitchers per PA: 3.99 (Rank: 1)
Analysis: Greinke is one of the most underrated pitchers in baseball thanks to Clayton Kershaw. Greinke would be the ace on a lot of other teams, but he doesn’t seem to mind being the second starter behind Kershaw. He has a 2.97 SIERA and a strikeout rate of 24.4% since the start of last season. He draws a plus-matchup against the Cubs, who are ranked 29th in strikeout rate (25.1%) against right-handed pitching this season. Greinke is in play tonight, but he’s a very small favorite, as Jason Hammel takes the mound for the Cubbies.

Pitchers per PA: 3.89 (Rank: 5)
Analysis: Speaking of underrated pitchers, Jason Hammel is another name that comes to mind. He comes into tonight’s start in great form, posting a 2.95 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 29.1% over the last month of play. Hammel is expected to pitch well here, but the matchup is less than ideal. The Dodgers are ranked 1st in wOBA (.347) against right-handed pitching and they average the 5th-most pitches per plate appearance this season. Run support could also be an issue, as Zack Greinke is pitching opposite him.

These two teams failed to score many runs with the wind blowing out to center field last night at Wrigley. Chicago Cubs
Zack Greinke pitches better at home than he does on the road, but he is still not a pitcher that we want to target hitters against. Since the start of last season, he has held left and right-handed hitters under a .285 wOBA. The Cubs have one of the lowest team totals on the board and they can be avoided in all league formats.

Analysis: Chavez has pitched well recently, posting a 3.36 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.0% over the last month of play. He doesn’t walk many batters and he doesn’t give up many home runs. I’m still waiting for regression to catch up to Chi Chi Gonzalez and I expect that to happen tonight against a tough A’s lineup. If that’s the case, Chavez should see plenty of run support. Chavez is a bit too expensive on FanDuel, but he’s at a very playable $6,600 on DraftKings.

While Gonzalez has a 0.90 ERA, his SIERA is at 5.50. Add in one of the lowest strikeout rates and one of the toughest matchups in all of baseball and we have ourselves a recipe for a breakdown. Eventually, the numbers are going to win out here.

Over the last month of play, he has a 3.32 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 21.3%. He appears to be rounding into form and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him have an excellent season from here on out. He draws a favorable matchup tonight against the Twins, who are ranked 24th in wOBA (.293) and 22nd in strikeout rate (20.5%) against right-handed pitching this season. No one is going to target him tonight, making him one of my favorite pitchers to use in tournaments.

vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.294 (Rank: 23) — Strikeout Rate: 19.2% (Rank: 12)

Analysis: Pelfrey has been a serviceable pitcher for the Twins this season, but he is still a low strikeout pitcher that typically gives up a couple of runs in each start. Even in a favorable matchup against the White Sox, Pelfrey can be avoided in all league formats. He doesn’t provide enough upside at a position that we rely on for a large portion of our fantasy production.

Jose Abreu : FD: $3,400 — DK: $4,800
Position Eligibility: FD: 1B — DK: 1B
2014-15 vs. RH Pitching: PA: 677 — wOBA: 0.387 — ISO: 0.238 — wRC+: 148
Last 14 Days: PA: 53 — wOBA: 0.409 — ISO: 0.216 — wRC+: 163
Analysis: Abreu continues to be very affordable on FanDuel. If you are looking for a consistent source of production at first base, Abreu is a great option. He has good numbers against right-handed pitching and he draws a favorable matchup against Mike Pelfrey, who has given up a .358 wOBA to right-handed hitters over the past two seasons. There aren’t many affordable options in daily fantasy that have both a high floor and a high ceiling, but Abreu is one of them.

Minnesota
The Twins are an easy offense to avoid tonight. They are a below-average offense against right-handed pitching and they draw a difficult matchup against Jeff Samardzija, who has held right-handed hitters to a .292 wOBA over the past two seasons.
