Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.301 (Rank: 25) — Strikeout Rate: 22.2% (Rank: 22)
Pitches per PA: 3.77 (Rank: 23)
Analysis: Anderson’s strikeouts have disappeared and with it, so has his fantasy appeal. Over the last month of play, he has a strikeout rate of only 12.3%. He draws a difficult matchup tonight against the Reds, who are ranked seventh in team wOBA and ninth in strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season. He can safely be avoided tonight in the hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark.
Pitcher Rating: 64.9
David Holmberg : FD: $5,200 — DK: $4,200

Pitches per PA: 3.88 (Rank: 5)
Analysis: Holmberg is one of my favorite pitchers to pick on. He has a 5.49 SIERA, a low strikeout rate, and he gives up a high wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters. He should be avoided tonight against the Dodgers, who are ranked sixth in team wOBA against left-handed pitching this season.
Pitcher Rating: 27.3

The Dodgers hit left-handed pitching well as a team and they draw a favorable matchup against David Holmberg in the hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark. Holmberg has given up a .367+ wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters. Load up on the Dodgers in both cash games and tournaments.

The Reds draw a mediocre matchup tonight against Brett Anderson. While he has been tough on hitters from both sides of the plate, but he hasn’t been in great form recently and the Reds do get to face him at home. Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.314 (Rank: 15) — Strikeout Rate: 19.1% (Rank: 8)
Pitches per PA: 3.92 (Rank: 3)
Analysis: Nelson has pitched well recently, posting a 3.46 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.9% over the last month of play. He hasn’t been nearly as effective on the road as he has at home though, which is a concern for tonight’s start against the Indians. It also doesn’t help that the Indians lineup is loaded with left-handed hitters, which has been Nelson’s biggest weakness over the last two seasons.
Pitcher Rating: 56.3
Cody Anderson : FD: $6,600 — DK: $5,000

Analysis: Carlos Carrasco was scratched from his start, so the Indians will start rookie Cody Anderson tonight against the Brewers. He has been a serviceable starter for Cleveland this season, but he has one of the lowest strikeout rates of any starter in baseball. Even though the matchup against the Brewers is a favorable one, Anderson’s upside is limited.
Pitcher Rating: 49.1

Analysis: Duffey is making his fourth career major league start tonight. He is coming off of his best start, as he struck out eight batters against the Orioles in Baltimore. He would typically be a nice tournament play in this spot, but with Chris Archer pitching opposite him, he is going to have a tough time picking up the win.

Pitches per PA: 3.81 (Rank: 16)
Analysis: Archer has been terrific in his recent outings, posting a 2.65 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 31.9% over the last month of play. He has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season and there is no reason to think that it won’t continue tonight against the Twins, who are ranked 24th in team wOBA and 23rd in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Archer is right there with Chris Sale as the top pitching option on the board tonight.

The Twins draw one of the worst matchups on the board tonight. Since the start of last season, Chris Archer has held both left and right-handed hitters under a .285 wOBA. The Twins should be avoided in all league formats tonight, and yes that includes Miguel “I hit home runs for a living” Sano.

He draws an interesting matchup tonight against the Rockies. Not only are they a different offense away from Coors Field, but they may be without their hottest hitter, Carlos Gonzalez. Miller is expensive, but he is a viable SP2 tonight at home.

Analysis: Narveson hasn’t been in a starting rotation since the 2011 season. He has made spot starts here and there, but injuries have plagued him the last few seasons. He is a large underdog tonight at home against the Pirates, who have been very good offensively. They are now ranked 13th in team wOBA against left-handed pitching and they have the seventh-highest team wOBA over the last two weeks of play.
Pitcher Rating: 55.8

Pittsburgh
Chris Narveson has only pitched in 11 innings over the last two seasons, so it’s hard to trust his splits with such a small sample. Instead, let’s take a look at his career splits. He has been tough on left-handed hitters, but has given up a career .336 wOBA to hitters from the right side of the plate.

Miami
The Marlins may not have a ton of firepower in their lineup, but they hit right-handed pitching well as a team. They draw a favorable matchup tonight against Jeff Locke, who has given up a .307+ wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters over the last two seasons.
