Tonight’s matchup against the Pirates is a decent one, but he is a bit overpriced for the strikeout potential that he brings to the table. There are better pitching options to target in both cash games and tournaments.

The ballpark isn’t exactly a great one for offensive production, but their matchup against Edinson Volquez isn’t terrible. Volquez is a hittable pitcher that doesn’t strike out a ton of batters.

The Astros also take a lot of pitches, which drives up their opponent’s pitch count.

Tonight’s matchup against the Red Sox may appear tough on paper, but Boston actually has the lowest wOBA (.248) of any team over the last 14 days of play. He’s not the safest pitching option on the board, but he could be a great contrarian play in tournaments.

Analysis: While Lance Lynn is a strong pitching option tonight, Fernandez takes the cake as the top overall play at the position. The ballpark isn’t ideal, but I’ll take my chances with the strikeout upside of Fernandez. He is the top rated pitcher on the board tonight.

The Marlins hit left-handed pitching well as a team, but those numbers are skewed thanks to Giancarlo Stanton numbers against southpaws.

Oakland has the third-lowest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching (.272) and they average the sixth-most pitches per plate appearance.

While he doesn’t have to face them at the Rogers Centre, this is still a tough matchup. Toronto is ranked fifth in wOBA (.327) against right-handed pitching this season. At his price point, he’s an easy pitcher to avoid tonight.
