Robbie Ray : FD: $7,000 — DK: $7,500
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 106.1 — SIERA: 4.02 — ERA: 4.49 — K%: 19.7% — BB%: 7.0% — HR/9: 0.9

Atlanta Braves Offense (2015)
vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.281 (Rank: 28) — Strikeout Rate: 21.1% (Rank: 15)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.303 (Rank: 20) — Strikeout Rate: 16.4% (Rank: 2)
Pitchers per PA: 3.77 (Rank: 22)
Analysis: Ray has pitched well recently, posting a 3.17 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 27.1% over the last month of play. He draws a nice matchup tonight against the Braves and he gets to face them in the pitcher-friendly Turner Field. On the season, Atlanta is ranked 28th in team wOBA and 15th in strikeout rate against left-handed pitching. Ray may be a little too volatile to target in cash games, but he makes a fine contrarian play for tournaments.
Pitcher Rating: 65.2
Julio Teheran : FD: $8,100 — DK: $7,000
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 359.0 — SIERA: 3.86 — ERA: 3.53 — K%: 20.5% — BB%: 6.9% — HR/9: 1.0

Arizona Diamondbacks Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.320 (Rank: 9) — Strikeout Rate: 20.6% (Rank: 21)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.350 (Rank: 2) — Strikeout Rate: 19.6% (Rank: 7)
Pitchers per PA: 3.71 (Rank: 29)
Analysis: Guess who pitches well at home? In his career, Teheran has a 3.51 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 23.3% at Turner Field. Everyone will likely be off of him tonight because he has to face a red-hot Diamondbacks’ offense, but I like his chances to quiet this lineup. Arizona strikes out at a high rate and Teheran’s price is discounted thanks to his struggles on the road. I like Teheran as a tournament play and even as a borderline SP2 on multi-pitcher sites.
Pitcher Rating: 63.4

Arizona
The Diamondbacks are small favorites tonight, but again, Julio Teheran has pitched well at home throughout his career. Teheran has given up a .327 wOBA to left-handed hitters over the last two seasons, though, which puts Jake Lamb and Ender Inciarte in play as viable punt options tonight.

Atlanta
I have been avoiding the Braves offense for weeks now and a matchup against Robbie Ray is not going to change that. Ray has pitched well recently and the Braves are one of the worst hitting teams against left-handed pitching. Adonis Garcia is a viable punt play in the outfield, but the rest of the Braves can be avoided tonight.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.338 (Rank: 6) — Strikeout Rate: 19.3% (Rank: 6)
Pitchers per PA: 3.80 (Rank: 15)
Analysis: Karns comes into tonight’s start in great form, posting a 3.42 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 25.6% over the last month of play. He draws a difficult matchup against the Rangers though, and he has to face them in the hitter-friendly Globe Life Park. This game has a high run total and both offenses are expected to fare well in this one. Karns can safely be avoided in all league formats.

Pitchers per PA: 3.85 (Rank: 10)
Analysis: Perezy is an easy pitcher to avoid in daily fantasy. He has a low strikeout rate and he is pitching in a hitter’s park against a Rays’ offense that is ranked fifth in team wOBA against left-handed pitching. There is more risk than potential reward with Perez tonight.
Pitcher Rating: 51.3

Tampa Bay
The Rays have the highest team wOBA over the last 14 days and they are one of the best offenses in baseball against left-handed pitching. They draw a favorable matchup against Martin Perez, who has given up a .341 wOBA to right-handed hitters over the last two seasons. There is a lot of value in this Rays’ lineup tonight.

The Rangers may not have a great matchup against Nate Karns, but they do get to face him at home. They have a high team total and they have plenty of left-handed bats to throw at Karns. Mitch Moreland hit his 17th home run of the season yesterday. He is an elite play at his price point, while the other lefties are better secondary options.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.291 (Rank: 26) — Strikeout Rate: 23.0% (Rank: 27)
Pitchers per PA: 3.80 (Rank: 16)
Analysis: Kluber is coming off of a complete game against this same Twins’ offense. He struck out ten batters in that start, while only giving up a single run. The game was played in Cleveland, but he should have plenty of confidence heading into tonight’s start. Kluber has as much upside as any pitcher on the mound tonight, as the Twins have the eighth-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. He is too cheap on DraftKings and should be a lock in your cash games.
Pitcher Rating: 96.1
Trevor May : FD: $6,000 — DK: $5,800

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.316 (Rank: 13) — Strikeout Rate: 21.6% (Rank: 22)
Pitchers per PA: 3.91 (Rank: 3)
Analysis: May is one of those pitchers whose ERA has never caught up with his SIERA. The difference suggests some positive regression is going to come his way, but we haven’t really seen it yet. He has good strikeout potential, but a bad matchup against the Indians, who are ranked 13th in team wOBA and sixth in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. May is a deep tournament play at best tonight at home.

The Indians draw a favorable matchup tonight against Trevor May, who has given up a .342+ wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters over the last two seasons. I’m not going to go overboard with the Indians tonight, but Michael Brantley and Francisco Lindor are both on my radar.

Analysis: Morgan has not fared well in his short stint in the majors, posting a 5.20 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 13.2%. While the Brewers are one of the worst offenses against left-handed pitching, that’s not enough to overcome the fact that he is still Adam Morgan. Analysis: Peralta has not been sharp recently, posting a 5.38 SIERA with a strikeout rate of only 9.9%. We typically like to avoid pitchers in bad form, especially when they are facing a team that doesn’t strikeout very often. The Phillies have been much better offensively over the last two weeks, as they are ranked eighth in team wOBA. Peralta is not the worst play on DraftKings ($5,000), but in anything other than a tournament.

The Phillies draw a favorable matchup against Wily Peralta, who has not pitched well recently. Since the start of the 2014 season, Peralta has given up a .362 wOBA. He also has a bad habit of giving up too many home runs, which bodes well for the Phillies in the hitter-friendly Miller Park.

Analysis: Duffy is an anomaly. His entire career, we have been waiting for regression to set in, but it appears that we may be waiting forever. Even with 241 innings over the last two seasons, he still has a full run and a half difference between his ERA and his SIERA. While he does get to pitch at home tonight, his strikeout potential is limited. He’s not a high-strikeout pitcher to begin with and the Angels have the sixth-lowest strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season.

LA Angels
The Angels draw a decent matchup tonight against Danny Duffy, who has given up a .318 wOBA to right-handed hitters over the last two seasons. I hesitate to list the Angels as elite plays though, as they are playing in the pitcher-friendly Kaufmann Stadium.

Kansas City
The Royals draw an intriguing matchup tonight against Jered Weaver, who is only making his second start back from injury. Not only is rust a potential issue, but Weaver’s strikeout numbers are down this season. The left-handed bats have the edge in this matchup, but I also like the red-hot Lorenzo Cain, who has a .373 wOBA over the last month of play.
