Kansas City Royals Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.321 (Rank: 7) — Strikeout Rate: 16.2% (Rank: 1)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.307 (Rank: 14) — Strikeout Rate: 17.7% (Rank: 5)
Pitchers per PA: 3.66 (Rank: 30)
Analysis: Estrada sees a ballpark boost tonight playing in the massive Kaufmann Stadium, but that’s about all that he has in his favor tonight. He is an extreme fly-ball pitcher with an above-average HR/FB rate and he draws a bad matchup against the Royals, who are ranked seventh in wOBA (.321) and first in strikeout rate (16.2%) against right-handed pitching this season.
Pitcher Rating:55.0
Danny Duffy : FD: $6,800 — DK: $6,000

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.333 (Rank: 5) — Strikeout Rate: 16.5% (Rank: 3)
Pitchers per PA: 3.79 (Rank: 14)
Analysis: Duffy is one of those pitchers that you never really target, but you never really take a lot of hitters against him either. He is an easy pitcher to avoid tonight, as he squares off against the Blue Jays, who basically lead every offensive category against left-handed pitching this season.
Pitcher Rating:36.4

Toronto
The Blue Jays are going to be very popular tonight, as they are the best offense in baseball against left-handed pitching. I will likely have limited exposure to them in cash games though, as they are very expensive and they are playing in a very tough park to hit home runs in. I’m on board for tournaments, but will be avoiding the Blue Jays in cash games.

The Royals’ offense is starting to put up runs in bunches again, which is bad news for whichever opposing pitcher they are facing that night. Tonight’s unlucky victim is Marco Estrada, who has given up a .325 wOBA to right-handed hitters over the last two seasons.

Atlanta
The Braves’ offense was fairly quiet in last night’s loss to the Rockies, but they should bounce back nicely tonight in Coors Field. As of right now, the Rockies have yet to decide on who will start tonight’s game. If anything, it will likely be a bullpen start, so the Braves could end up seeing a number of different pitchers. Regardless of who starts, hitters from both sides of the plate are in play.

Analysis: Santiago may have a below-average HR/FB rate, but when you have a fly-ball rate over 50%, you are going to give up a lot of home runs. I’m not a big fan of targeting pitchers that struggle to keep it in the park. Santiago should be avoided tonight against the Mariners, whose offense has been better in recent weeks.

Analysis: Montgomery is having a decent rookie season for the Mariners, posting a 4.28 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 16.1%. He is a small favorite tonight, but he is not a recommended fantasy option. The Angels’ offense has been terrific over the last two weeks. I’d rather target Mike Bolsinger at this price point.

He is a large favorite tonight at home against a Brewers’ offense that is ranked below the major league average in both wOBA and strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. For just over $6,000, I’ll take my chances with Bolsinger tonight.

Pitchers per PA: 3.72 (Rank: 26)
Analysis: This should be a fun game to watch. It’s a battle between two of the best pitchers in baseball. Hamels has been dominant over the last month, posting a 2.65 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 25.7%. He is not a great cash game play tonight, given his matchup and the fact that he is a sizable underdog, but he makes a terrific tournament play. He has as much upside as any pitcher on the board and he will likely have a very low ownership level.

Philadelphia Phillies Offense (2015)
vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.308 (Rank: 15) — Strikeout Rate: 20.5% (Rank: 12)

Analysis: Bumgarner will be the chalk play in cash games tonight. He has been terrific over the last month of play, posting a 2.62 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 30.0%. The one issue that he could run into is run support. Even if he holds the Phillies scoreless, a win is not guaranteed with Cole Hamels pitching opposite him. For that reason, I will take a hard look at Gerrit Cole as my number one option on single pitcher sites. That said, fading the best pitcher on the board against the Phillies is a scary proposition in cash games.

San Francisco
This game has the lowest run total on the board tonight. It is expected to be a pitcher’s duel. With games in Fenway, Coors, and Globe Life Park, there is no reason to target any Giants’ hitters.
