Analysis: Burnett has had an excellent season for the Pirates, but he draws a terrible matchup tonight against the Royals, who strike out fewer than any other team in baseball. Chris Sale performance against the Royals yesterday is a perfect example of why we don’t want to target pitchers against Kansas City. They make great contact and can kill you with singles. There are better options at his price point.

Analysis: Ventura is only making his second start in over a month tonight, as he takes on the Pirates at home. He does have the advantage of a big ballpark behind him, but I’d like to see a couple of quality starts before targeting him in any daily leagues. He draws a tough matchup against a surging Pirates’ offense that is ranked sixth in wOBA (.326) over the last 14 days.

The Pirates draw a decent matchup against Yordano Ventura, but they have to face him in the pitcher-friendly Kaufmann Stadium. This game has a low run total and the hitters in this lineup should be considered secondary fantasy options.

Kansas City
The Royals are one of the best offenses in all of baseball. Why you ask? Because they put the ball in play and give themselves a chance to reach base. Their matchup tonight against A.J. Burnett may not be ideal, but they are still in play. Eric Hosmer continues to be underpriced on FanDuel ($2,500) and he is one of the best values tonight at first base.

The Rangers see a major ballpark boost tonight playing in the hitter’s paradise that is Coors Field. They have one of the highest team totals on the board and they should be targeted in both cash games and tournaments. Chris Rusin has given up a .323+ wOBA to left and right-handed hitters, so batters from both sides of the plate are in play here.

The Rockies have the highest team total on the board tonight and for good reason. Analysis: Phelps will draw the start for the Marlins tonight. He has been a serviceable starter over the last two seasons, posting a 4.21 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 17.5%. He draws a tough matchup tonight against the Diamondbacks, who own a very potent offense. Phelps also has to face them in Chase Field, which yields more offensive production than Marlins Park. Analysis: De La Rosa has had a very nice season for the Diamondbacks. He has been in good form in his recent starts, posting a 3.96 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 17.6%. Even though he is playing in Chase Field, he draws a favorable matchup against the Marlins, who are ranked 27th in wOBA (.292) and 21st in strikeout rate (20.4%) against right-handed pitching this season. The price is appealing and given the matchup, he may be the top value at pitcher tonight.

Even though I like Rubby De La Rosa as a cheap pitching option, that doesn’t mean that we have to avoid hitters against him. The Diamondbacks draw a favorable matchup against David Phelps, who isn’t particularly effective against hitters from either side of the plate. The issue here is how expensive Paul Goldschmidt, A.J. Pitchers per PA: 3.97 (Rank: 2)
Analysis: Heaney has really pitched well over the last month of play, posting a 3.26 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.6%. He is one of the biggest favorites on the schedule tonight and as mentioned earlier, he is considerably cheaper than Matt Harvey. His matchup against the Red Sox may appear daunting, but as a team, they are only ranked 21st in wOBA (.296) against southpaws this season. Heaney is in play in both cash games and tournaments tonight.

Boston
The Red Sox draw a tough matchup against Andrew Heaney, who has really pitched well for the Angels this season. Boston has a low team total and even though their lineup has some powerful right-handed bats to throw at the left-hander, they are secondary fantasy options tonight.

LA Angels
The Angels draw an average matchup against Steven Wright, but given the way that they have been hitting the ball recently, don’t be surprised to see another offensive outburst here. Mike Trout may be the hottest hitter in baseball right now. He remains an elite play tonight, while Kole Calhoun and Albert Pujols are also in play.

Analysis: Hudson has pitched well over the last two seasons, but his low strikeout rate really limits his upside in daily fantasy. He has struck out less than 15% of the batters that he has faced since the start of last season. He sees a positive ballpark boost playing in Petco Park, but I’d rather pay a bit more at pitcher and target Rubby De La Rosa if you are looking for value.

Pitchers per PA: 3.73 (Rank: 25)
Analysis: Kennedy may not be in the best of form recently, but he sees a major ballpark boost tonight playing at home in the pitcher-friendly Petco Park. He draws a fairly difficult matchup against the Giants, but he has only given up two earned runs in three starts against them this season. The strikeout potential may not be great, but he could be worth a look as a contrarian tournament play.

The Giants draw a difficult matchup against Ian Kennedy in the worst hitter’s park in all of baseball. This game has a very low total and it may be wise to avoid both offenses in this one. Buster Posey and Angel Pagan are decent options, but neither players stands out as a must start at their respective positions.

San Diego
The Padres have been one of the worst offenses in baseball all season. They draw a fairly difficult matchup against Tim Hudson, who has a SIERA under 4.00 in the last two seasons. Matt Kemp is really the only fantasy option of note here. He has been red-hot over the last two weeks, posting a .480 wOBA and a .361 ISO.
